Gun Collection

Recommended Posts

It's funny how in another report a few weeks back they stated that the firearms were deactivated yet now this reporter states many were live and loaded. Load of crap!!!

Looking at the photo, depending on the spec of some of the SMGs like the Thompson 1928A1, there could be a lot of money in that lot. The relatives should be given the opportunity to sell the items and not pushed into having them destroyed.

Seems every third person I meet here in the states has at least that many guns in their collection. One guy even had his house built around his walk in gun safe.....like a mini armory.

What a joke,

It would appear this guy has been found guilty before trial.

'An armoury of more than 40 deadly firearms and weapons' Who says? The shells I see look like base ejecting illum rounds or inert.

'Officers then raided his home and Greater Manchester Police say over 40 prohibited weapons were recovered'. Allegedly prohibited!

'However, officers have warned that there could have been serious consequences if the weapons, including shells, missiles, guns and ammunition, had fallen into the wrong hands'

Anything could have serious consequences in the wrong hands.

Got to take my hat off to the idiots who wrote this article and the Police for not checking things out before releasing news to the press. The items should have been checked and returned with no further action, only if something was wrong should they have considered releasing the news.

During the amnesty there will also be a change in legislation which will make it illegal for certain people to hold weapons such as antique firearms.

Anyone heard about this?

There was something on BOCN about it, can't seem to find it with a quick shufti.

the ammo box in one of the pictures says it all.. Inert, you have to love the quality journalism nothing like repeating scant facts and padding it out with words like FEAR, FELL INTO WRONG HANDS,

Well it's up to the usual standard of tabloid journalism isn't it ?:) ...

Lets face it ...if you so wished to , you could buy a different type of axe every other day from all the hardware stores and outlets in your district. After a few years you could easily amass a collection of maybe 200 / 300 different ones....Then one day, you're coming out of your local store with another fine purchase and someone just decides that you are a bit 'weird' because his mate who's mum worked in the shop told him "that old bloke is always buying axes!" ?...

So......around come the police for a looksee......

the local paper rings the Police up every few days looking for stories and....Wahay ! ..here's a good one !!

"Local man found with massive axe collection! Police say they could have been very dangerous in the wrong hands!" etc etc ..then the national press pick it up and run like a headless chicken with the headlines getting ever more lurid in the telling ......

The fella is thereafter known as 'that nutter who had all those axes!' and for ever after, everyone in the district regards him as a proper wierdo even though he was doing absolutely nothing wrong apart from indulging in a bit of a strange hobby and meanwhile....... the Press moves on regardless......

It's pathetic journalism at the very least but is up to what the standard seems to be these days :( What always upsets me is , these compilations of absolute drivel sell in their millions every single day :(

It will be interesting to see, once the dust settles and if he's found innocent, whether anyone will print a retraction. That includes the police, if they have been correctly reported.

Its a wonder the reporter didn't elude to the likelihood of it being the work of a terrorist sleeper cell or the center of an illicit black market gun racket! The reporter could have done so much more with the story. haha
