Two supports/packers under a cylindrical section and one at each corner on a square section? :undecided:

Alec.

Ingenious Alec but nope.

Only one corner is marked red & in a consignment of identical items only one packing case would be so marked.

OK, thinking logically, Red means Danger,
Not in this instance Robert.

something to do with Live ammunition or explosives?
It is possible on occasions that it could be & that is indicated by the green disc.

Words are written in the red bars, then the bars are bent to fit inside the green circle, and this is how the templates for Blackpool rock are made...

Bernard I suspect that seaside romanticism is getting the better of your normally shrewd judgement. :-D

In summary:

We have a green disc that has no writing. It could indicate explosive things that have been focussed on but there are other things that could also be indicated by this.

We have two red bars that have writing on them but they say little about product indicated by the green disc.

I just bought a pamphlet on SAA, put it safe, AND now can't find it!! But I'm pretty certain that is markings on a Small Arms Ammunition box.

Tony yes GRP V includes that, but these marking combinations are for other items.

The red corner on the one case would be where all the shipping paperwork was to be found, maybe?

Well done Gordon it is indeed!

What remains now is to identify the meaning of the green disc. So far there is a focus on explosives, which indeed may be carried but there is a wide range of other items identified by a green disc.

Also the purpose of the two red bars with writing has not been identified.

Is the green disc to mark the method of dispatch (Thinking you could be off on railways again) the red lines would have the routing and handaling information., or! Hedging bets the green dic can't go next to red disc , but can go nextto say a blue disc, a'la hazardous packing triangles.
