broken arrow
In 1946 40 Spitfire mk 21s were sent to Shoeburyness, allmost every aircraft had only approxamitly 5 or 6hrs of recorded flight time, doe"s anyone have any info on what happend to these aircraft, photos of them or remember seeing them there. Have looked on google earth all over the ranges nothing showing not to say there is nothing there, can see some tanks and other AFVs near the buildings and have seen a couple of tanks being taken in through the gates last September when we were over visiting our sons 2012. plus the ammo train every Tuesday morning. Pzkpfw-e
Well, here's a Lightning in a 1995 photo. So I think we can guess what shape any Spitfires would have been in!

There was something about these Spitfires in an Aircraft magazine about 12 months ago - must have been Flypast or Airplane. I seem to remember that a chap had recovered a couple and was making a cockpit and engine from them. Sorry, can't be any more help.
