Hi All

Have put the video of the three guns firing on my youtube channel (petesos51) or ( fh70 firing )

I will upload the Original up on my profile page of this truly awesome event.

As you will all see on my youtube channel that i have fired the FH many times some that i have not put on youtube but i must say to see the three guns going off together was awesome.

Thanks again all, for making us so wellcome

boomboom :D:D:D

Awww it was lovely to see you this weekend :-) you made hubby a very happy man by helping him to fire the gun!!!!!!!!! Hes not stopped smiling since!!!!! (oh and thanks to coming to my aid when I tripped over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) It was lovely to meet up with others to-Rambo, LandyAndy, Chevpol, Smithy and others I know I have forgotten!!!!!

We've had a very successful weekend, lots of public through the gates. We nearly ran out of space on Saturday as vehicles were still rolling through the gates. We have been blessed with the weather, forecast looked dodgy for Sunday and Monday but the wind blew it away and left us with the sun shinning. We even managed to get out mobile mansion away before todays rain came! Speaking with many stall holders and exhibitors over the 4 days makes me feel we have got things right, you can always make improvments of course.

I also want to thank every single person who came along either as a volunteer, an exhibitor or a trader- you help add to the atmosphere of the show. I am totally exhausted now, washing machine going ten to the dozen but the pile does not seem to be getting smaller!!!!!!!!!

Roll on Overlord 2013 :D

I really enjoyed the show.

You can't make people stay on site to the end, w+p try it, but never succeed.

Civvie vehciles? Thats a tough one, some shows are stricter than others.

I found all the overlord team very very helpful.

Even had a security van driving around between 6pm/6am keeping an eye on everything, which was a brilliant idea, and yet, someone moaned about it! Can't please everybody, thats for sure.

We all have a different idea of a good show, for me it's= good stalls, good toilets, good staff, and overlord have them all.

@ safariswing;

Lee, whilst I agree with some of your points, exactly the same thing happens at w+p, and yet you defend w+p when it's disscussed on here.

In my experience, some people always pack up on the last morning of every show. The last sunday of w+p people are streaming out of the exit gate and going home.

I've always complained about the civy vehicles that are clearly left on display at W&P & about those that leave early. If you are going to leave early go the night before & don't pack up & go first thing when the public are coming in.

W&P can swallow up the amount of people that leave early & the public still get a full days entertainment.. the thing I don't like is Civy vehilces mixed in with the MV's which the organisers encourage & the fact I'm now being told Monday is a pack up day & we should of visited earlier.. We went there to do a reccy for bringing the MV's down next year.. glad we did as I now know not to waste my time & money.. there are plenty of local county fairs I can take my kit to if I wanted that sort of thing.. ther are those that are happy with that sort of show so Overlord is one for them..

At the Bunker Bash we welcome comments (good or bad) from exhibitors & public, we make changes where required, we don't just brush them aside..

There were others (traders & exhibitors) we spoke to at Overlord who had very similar views to ours but guess they won't speak up & risk getting shot down..

Anyway they are happy with their show & the way they run it so I suppose that's all that matters.. I'm not going to lose sleep over it..

The Double LL show that also was at five heads lane (don't know if it is still going) also had people going home early, it is a bit naughty but some people have large distances to travel and in elderly vehicles this alone is a feat worth allowing plenty of time for.

We enjoy the use of the showers despite them being a bit hot and there was a good turn out of trade stalls and the weather was kind halla bloody loola !! past years have been washouts or blowouts.

Only one point we could make was the beer tent kindly stayed open for us lot staying Monday night but when we went down there after the BarBQue we were the first customers and they had got fed up and were packing up.

One other point that has crossed my mind is why are there no British Army re-enactments fighting German forces ?.

It sound like the kind of show that you would like to go too, laid back, friendly and full up.

Its a hard job trying to please everyone its even harder setting up a show and having the show comeback year on year.

Would it not be better to pass any comments on the shows make up good or bad through you're local MVT Area Secretary? From memory I seem to remember various letters / emails of congratulations being received by the Area Secretary in Manchester thanking him on behalf of the members for the turnout at various shows that members went too. I know the Area Secretary in Manchester asks for feedback so that it can be passed back to organisers, its more likely to be constructive that way.

This event is not run by an MVT area and without becoming political I don't think the MVT C.o.M would want to hear anything about it except that it had folded;)

A lot of people have always attended this show prior to leaving for Normandy so perhaps some of those leaving early had ferries booked on the Sunday and Monday so as to be in Normandy prior to 6th June.

Fantastic weekend, I was only there friday and saturday and it was great...cannot imagine anyone not enjoying the show. Ice cream was great food was great company was great vehicles were great, especially mine..:-D weather was great location was great...cannot think they could do much more to improve it...keep it going boys...I love it and so do all the people I met at the show.

next year I will be taking a load more vehicles, at least 9, as my foden and Tatra will be working and that means I can haul at least 6 vehicles on the DROPS, the Foden and the Tatra, plus the said three makes a total of Nine.

I would like to see a big hill in the arena...maybe a challenge hill...see who can get up or not...not too big just steep...would be a great spectacle and great challenge every day/year...

bet my ural will out climb most anything big out there...except maybe the tatra..

Nice piccys, never saw the Gipsy, but that is what you would expect over a weekend show, vehicle owners can sometimes only make it 1 day etc.

I think we will be back next year, work permitting etc!!!!

A very enjoyable show, plenty to see and do! A real credit to you all

Hi All

Firstly I would like to thank all the show organizers and helpers inc Garry, Richard ,Rosie, Mark Harvey and Ian. In my mind this is the Best Show in Southern England. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful, as soon as I turned up on Thursday I was offered help to unload the howitzer and I was then escorted to my pitch, they also asked if I wanted help on Tuesday to reload the Howitzer. You can't beat that for service. The show is friendly, relaxed and always has a great turn out. I'm a Vehicle owner and a re-enactor, If i want to Re-enact I'll go in the Re-enatment field, If i want to park up and have a beer then i go in the vehicle field, people have a choice. To start upsetting people by laying down to many rules and regs then the show dies on its arse

People need to remember. 1. Any show that can stand alone and compete on a bank holiday and survive deserves credit. 2. Its the Queens Jubilee weekend, people have plans and other comiments like street parties etc etc to go to on the Tuesday. Some people may be going to Normandy and combine going to the show before they go to France. The Essex MVT show use to suffer with the same problem on the bank holiday monday in August, people use to go early, but they could of been at the show since thursday ? I don't like it either but you cant stop them, this isnt the Army, its a hobby

Its funny, when i saw you Lee at the show I wondered what you would report about the show and you havent surprised me at all. Eveything you have said is negative. As a fellow organiser wouldnt it be helpful to give credit where credit is due rather then just comment on the bad stuff ??? I have been to BB twice now and I dont like it that much, it has no Character, stalls are poor, Show field is poor. The Good bit is the re-enactors in the woods and the actual Bunker, I go because i belive in Supporting these shows, because without support they will stop.

There isnt a set format for any show and what the organiser's want / like at one show another show may want something diffrent. It pays to have stalls selling something for the whole family, if its all military the rest of the family will get bored and wont come again. £25 for 3 people isnt bad Pay £20 each at T&T and see less than you saw on the Monday at overlord. As a Show organised why go on the last day, you know its been open since Friday, Its a bit like going to the last day of the sales and then moan theres nothing left to buy ???

Thanks again to the Overlord Team, roll on 2013

Politics pain in the......

First and foremost a show has to entertain if the public is paying those hard earned pennies for entering the show. Secondly the re-enactors and owners have to enjoy the show to keep on coming back for more. Thirdly a wall of green stuff will eventually drive the most patient of partner bonkers so you would be better catering for that rather than not. Lastly no show can stand on its laurels and think that its the best in the world and that it cannot change in some-way for the paying public.

I still think that we have two different ideas on how an event should be staged and short of physically blocking the gate to stop people going home it isn't going to change.

Keep it friendly the MV world is very very small.
