Pzkpfw-e
Took the chance to call in yesterday, just in time for one of their Lancaster taxi runs. Bloody great to be so close to it, that the wingtip passes virtually over my head, as it trundles by and you can feel the vibrations from its Merlins! Photos taken with a crappy camera on my phone! Can't remember what it is! Jeep Bedford with Queen Mary trailer. QM's got wooden bench seats, so must be used for airfield "tours"' The various bits of wreckage, come from a Spitfire MkV (IIRC), excavated from a Lincolnshire crash site, a Hampden, from a Swedish mountainside - the cockpit & forward fuselage is being restored, plus a Wellington from a remote Scottish moor. The bombs are a 12,000lb "Tallboy", with an 8,000lb lightcase bomb behind it. Can't caption the bigger pictures, but I reckon you can all recognise a Lancaster & link the above info to the right photos! Plenty other artifacts of all sizes, from more wrecks (P38/F5 Lightnings, He111 etc) Edited May 10, 2012 by Pzkpfw-e
Smithy
Thanks for posting the pictures up. Great to see that thevehicles inside the hanger are now easier to see as last time I went (justchecked and it was in 2006 - can't believe it was that long ago!) they weresomewhat difficult to see in their positions. “The Camel” has also been painted in a new colour scheme.
