Rare Vehicles

I read the recent thread about Lloyd Carriers and there being 22 in the world. I was thinking about other vehicles and the numbers that survive, so the question is 'Do you know own a vehicle where less than 10 survive in the world?'

I will start this thread off with my vehicle, a Ford WOA2. I know of only 6 in the world :-

4 in UK (One of these is a WOA2A model, the only one I know of)

1 in Australia

1 in Czechoslovakia

So, do you own a rare vehicle, one of less that 10 in the world? Can we get a list of rarities?

My Scammell Explorer is one of six supplied to the FVRDE under contract no 9870 in 1953, and possibly the last one to be sold off in 1993...unless someone knows of one cast later.

It has many small features not found on other Explorers, I think two others confirmed and another possible still exist.

Austin K5, I have been told by several people that there are only about 7 complete/ restored and no more than 20 in total ?

I would love to know how many realy do exist and where they are ?

Its extremely hard to determin how rare a particular vehicle is,apart from museum examples and vehicles on the show circuit there is so many locked away in sheds and private collections that are unkown. just in the UK alone there are quite a few large private collection that are reclusive.

I've looked at this a few times, and the survival rate for WW2 US vehicles seems to be 2 to 5% if produced in quantity, but strangely some of the low-quantity oddball stuff produced in small quantities seems to have a proportionally higher survival rate...

3 of 36 T-36 Snow tractors

30+ of 291 M7 / T-26E4 Snow tractors

3 of 25 VC 6 Dodge Carryalls

I can only think of a couple of vehicle types ( apart from prototypes and the like ) which have only single survivors; Rick Jones VK62B RAF crewbus, and our very own Ashby families WK60 breakdown, both three ton Dodges.

...hmmm, not sure how many are left, but my saracen is one of only 1850 that were made by Alvis,.... what with people cutting them up, left right and centre, surely the numbers are dwindling!....:nut:

(Hi i own an m4 high speed tractor it would be good to find out how many are left i know of 3 others in various states in the uk)

Hi, I know of at least 6 - 8 of M4 HSTs in the UK, 3 of which is going to Armour and Embarkation next year.

My Grandad owns 4 2.5 tonne Autocar tractor units which are the only 4 to be known to exist in Europe.

When I was searching for a Morris-Commercial C9/B SP Bofors for our museum I found three - Cobbaton, Firepower, Isle of Wight - then ours turned up in private hands.

Another one, heavily modified as a crane truck, came up for sale last year. I don't know what happened to it but it was missing most of its specialised kit - the jacks etc - which would have made it very expensive to restore. That's 5 survivors out of about 1700 built.
