New recovery truck

Recommended Posts

Just built a new recovery truck . mainly for our limos but couldnt help painting it nato as will take some of our light MV's . It was a 18ton Motorway cone truck that got smacked on the rear end . got a second hand 25ft police recovery bed and stretched it to 31ft.

Not weighed the truck yet . its rated 18ton and would take a wild guess the truck now weighs in at 7 to 8 ton

Looks like it will be very usefull mate ! Are those limos as much of a pain to drive around town as they appear ? I saw a limo demo in the centre of London last summer not sure what they where demonstrating against but there was chaos with all those limos trying to move around the packed streets ! Seems to be a demo of one sort or another every week now ! Can't think why !:cool2::-D

They only seem to be a problem for drivers who cant drive but think they can. Plan ahead and your fine . although its been a few years since I have driven one around town .

Yeah right! I get great delight watching a stretched Hummer trying to navigate round our local area.:-D

Nice conversion, and damned useful at that length, as well. Will you need a proper LGV licence to drive it now?

As it's plated at 18 tonnes a LGV licence will be needed.

That looks a lot nicer than when I last saw it, you have clearly been busy over the last few weeks !

Just found this thread, what a great truck, nice conversion. We have a twin deck Daf LF 7.5t at work which is maxed out with two vw caddys on the back & handles like a boat around the slightest of corners. Head office now looking whether to build 12t slide with spec lifts as replacements but this then limits their use to Class 2 only drivers.
