  1. I am fairly sure that amongst the stuff that my dad won't be getting to use up that he collected over the years are some sheets of Birmabright. He was planning to use it to skin a camper van he was going to make on an Austin Champ chassis. I remember us making a diversion on the way back from holiday to pick the sheets up from Birmingham, and we came back with them on the roof of another camper van he had made, on an Austin LD IIRC. The background was that he had been there with his job to fix their rolling mill, and managed to persuade them to give him some as a "special". I don't know what condition they are in after 40 years leaned against the wall in the garage, nor do I recall how many they are. But the sheets are at least 8'x4' and at least 6 of them. I don't know the grade, there may be markings. Is this likely to be of use to the Land Rover chaps?
  2. Dear All As a result of a financial setback my Defender 90 is now on e-Bay as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182919490301 If the successful buyer mentions finding it via HMVF I will of course make a contribution to the forum running costs! Happy Bidding Iain
  3. Popped along to this small show today as I'd never heard of it until this morning. Nice setting of an old furnace next to a canal & surrounded by woodland. Plenty of smart steam & traction engines, tractors, cars & a few MVs as below. My take the Militant along next year.
  4. My latest project is the above mentioned vehicle. Most parts I have , something very usefull still required are workshop manuals, parts manuals, drawings, diagrams etc. A few bits missing that I need are drivers seat mount (rhd), windscreen including glass or advice of a substitute. Hopefully as I progress the restoration when time permits ,I shall post on the forum pictures etc and pass on info . If anybody can assist with info or parts I would be deeply indebted. many thanks
  5. Hello folks, a serving RAF officer has contacted our MVT group. He is looking for our help to locate an RAF Blue Landrover. ‘My fiancé and I are looking for an RAF Blue Landrover for use as our wedding vehicle when we get married near Malmesbury, Wilts on 23 April this year. If anyone owns or knows of any such vehicle, we would be very grateful if you would get in touch.’ If anyone can help, this is a fantastic and very practical way to support our service personnel. You can PM me on this forum or contact Ian directly [ian.david.hall@gmail.com]. cheers, Jeremy
  6. Hi Please can anyone tell me the purpose of the small black pipe that goes from the Turbo to the top of the Cambelt housing on a land rover defender 90 wolf 300tdi engine. Thanks.
  7. Hi to All HMVF Members & Seasons Greetings I am Al from Staffordshire, I have owned a Landrover defender 90 for several years and have enjoyed off roading and greenlaning. Last year my partner and i fancied a change so we purchased a Wolf 90 and this year we are looking forward to going to military shows and events. Happy and prosperous New Year to All Would you have any idea what is the purpose of the small black pipe coming from the turbo to the top of the timing belt cover on a 300TDI wolf. Many thanks Al
  8. Hi, Anyone out there have any experience in removing the gearbox from a Snatch Land Rover? I'm in the process of stripping out the seat base, on the basis that in a standard Landy you can remove the floor to access the gearbox. But the more I remove, look and prod, the less it looks like the floor will come out. Do I have to remove the gearbox from underneath? Is it possible to remove all the bolts holding the bellhousing to the engine? Or do I need to remove engine and gearbox together. Any and all advice gratefully recieved. Cheers, Julian
  9. Hi folks. Went to work in my Landi. t'day. On the way home noticed the charging light not fully out and head lights starting to dim . But after a mile, light out and headlights up.:-) This happened the first two winters I had it, first time fitted a new used gen. panel. Second winter swopped a couple of wires in the shunt box. Why is this happening only in very cold weather, is it possible the wind chill is causing contacts to stick in gen. panel? May the prob. sort it's self out warmer weather? I know from the past when panel goes wrong you are stuck, batteries flatten very quick. Thanks. Andy.
