  6. Calling all military vehicles owners - please come and join us at Bottisham Airfield Museum Open Weekend on 30th September and 1st October and you are assured of a warm welcome. Bottisham was the home to many Army Co-operation Command squadrons and the 361st FG, 8th AF, USAAF during WW2 and we are now establishing a museum dedicated to the memory of those who served there. The restoration of the original buildings is an uphill struggle and the Open Weekend generates much needed funds to support this effort. Please come along and support us. Just give us a call on 07791 971799 or email at jasonwebb@bottishamairfieldmuseum.org.uk to let us know you are coming. Thanks. Jason Webb

  8. Guys. Please see below, if interested please contact me and i will link you up. I’m writing from a television production company called World Media Rights and we’re producing a new documentary series called Real Story, which looks at true stories which have inspired feature films – one of which is a documentary about the real story behind Hacksaw Ridge and as part of the show we’ll be shooting some drama reconstruction around London and at a location near Farnham, in Hampshire. I’m trying to find people to play the roles of US soldiers in both training Stateside and combat in Guam, Leyte and Okinawa and I came across your details. We’ll be filming across 2 days in early to mid-September and I was wondering whether you knew of any members based nearby who might be interested in taking part? we’re keen to find people who can accurately portray WWII US soldiers. To give you a bit more information the filming is for a 6 part documentary series called ‘Real Story’ for Reelz channel in the US and ITV Global. The series tells the true stories behind well-known feature films. For this episode we’ll be looking at the story behind Hacksaw Ridge, the 77th Infantry Division in the Pacific and the selflessly heroic actions of Desmond Doss; the first conscientious objector to win the Medal of Honor. It’s an incredible story and one that we’re all very excited to tell.

  14. Hello everyone if anyone is interested in bringing their WW2 or older Military Vehicles along to the Shuttleworth Colection, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire for either their Fly Navy airshow on the 4th of June or the Military Pageant on the 2nd of July could you please contact either myself or the organisers directly at events@shuttleworth.org. We have a few vehicles and Re-enactors already booked in but they have left it a bit late this year to ask me to put this up. In the past several members from here have come along and you guys have really made a fantastic display for the public and it has been really appreciated. The Fly Navy show line up is looking impressive with visiting aircraft such as; Sea Vixen, Seafire 3, Catalina, Westland Wasp (Terry Martin), Westland Wasp, Gazelle, Hawker Nimrod (Historic Aircraft Collection), Hawker Nimrod (The Fighter Collection), Chipmunk, Morane MS317, T6 Texan, Fairey Swordfish, Bristol Scout, Dragon Rapide, Avro 504K Replica, Grumman Wildcat, Grumman Bearcat, Goodyear Corsair, Skyraider, Hawker Fury MK11. and last years show was a highlight of the calendar for many people. The Military Pageant should see the return of the Bristol Blenheim and other visiting aircraft such as Sally B (B17), Westland Scout, Sioux, Chipmunk, Auster AOP 9, Auster AOP 6, Auster T7, Beaver. More details of the airshows available at http://www.shuttleworth.org/whats-on/ Hope to hear from you soon. Steve Panter
  15. Dear All, This is just a little advance notice & hopefully to put the date in your diaries for Tracks to the Trenches #3 at Apedale, Staffordshire, UK. 13-15th July 2018 At the moment we are still shaping the event format - but we hope to build on our successful 2014 and 2016 events & deliver our fitting end to the First World War Centenary. This may be the last "Tracks to the Trenches" event in this format. Please see www.ww1-event.org - this should be updated as we start to progress the event further. At this very early stage we would be keen to establish further contact with interested vehicle owners and exhibitors of other related items/equipment. Best regards, Gareth

  19. Hi all. Just to make you aware of a local WW2 event in East Sussex, that I have now been placed in charge of (well, vehicles and WW2). Last year the show was a great success, with a beautiful backdrop of Mitchelham Priory, and I hope that this year it can grow; it is taking place June 17th and 18th, which is a Saturday and Sunday, although Vehicles may arrive Friday evening. https://sussexpast.co.uk/event/world-war-ii-day Please see link. I am looking forward to vehicle bookings from you all. I have a list of last years exhibitors who I shall be contacting, but all new faces are welcome. It is free to exhibit and camping is available with your vehicle overnight (Friday-Sunday), although this has to be respectful due to the nature of the property, etc. Unfortunately it is strictly WW2 and Allied themed ( Please email reference Axis bookings) even my own Land Rover will have to live in the car park, but we are welcoming- Living History groups. Displays. Home front displays 1940's displays and of course as many vehicles as we can take. The only current stipulation for vehicles is they must be less than 3x3M in width and height, that's 9.8ft in old money. As there are restrictions on the gatehouse entrance. I have been also informed that 10T is the maximum weight limit of the bridge to the entrance. A GMC CCKW 353 will fit through, that was proved last year. If you are interested, please contact me via my email sussexpillbox@gmail.com And I shall do my best to book you all in. Many thanks Paul
  20. Good Evening I am a new member on this site. My name is Ciaran and I am one of the organisers of the Wings & Wheels Car, Bike & Military Vehicle Show. This event takes place on Sunday 16th July at Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Upminster, ESSEX, RM14 2TN. This year we are expanding to now incorporate Military Vehicles! As the Military and Flying machines show decided not to return to Damyns Hall, it was felt that there would be a demand both from the public and the exhibitors to see military vehicles at the airfield again. Wings & Wheels is already a well established event at Damyns Hall, with over 300 cars and bikes on display last year, as well as live music, beer tent, stalls, food vendors, helicopter rides, trial flights and a range of family entertainment. Military vehicles will be able to camp from Friday 14th, 12 noon onwards until Monday 17th, 12 noon. As well as showing your vehicles to the public on Sunday 16th, there will be food, bar and a free live music concert on Saturday evening for exhibitors! For more information or to register your vehicle please visit the website: http://wingsandwheels.haveringmind.org.uk/

  23. Penistone Armed Forces Day 24th June 2017 11am - 5pm. An open Invitation to all military vehicle owners to attend the above event, Sat 24th June. It is the main Armed Forces Day arena event for South Yorkshire, being supported by both Sheffield City Council and Barnsley MBC. Location - Penistone Showground, a rural Pennine market town setting, amidst some fantastic countryside. Any period of military vehicle is welcome and there is plenty of space available to accommodate even the largest. Appropriate period uniform is welcome – except NO Axis SS. Vehicle owners who are part of re-enactment groups who would like their group there to provide a fuller display please contact the organisers to discuss things. All periods are welcome, but please be correctly equipped and attired, and respectful in your representation. This is Armed Forces Day- not a ‘blat fest’. :-) Having said that, it is going to be a fun family day in order to raise funds for charity. Also in attendance, weather and everything else permitting, will be Parachutists, Marching Bands, Military Music, Royal Navy Field Gun Competition, Junior Assault Course, Vehicle Displays, Re-enactments, Demonstrations and a Police Dog Handling display. The Charity being supported in 2017 will be Combat Stress (Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society). Any vehicle owner attending MUST contact the event organiser at least two weeks before the event - there is no booking form. You need to be 'on the list' to gain entry. The usual show rule applies regarding having valid Third Party Insurance Cover. Please be prepared to have to show it. All vehicles to be on site, movement finished, by 10am, thanks. Contact 'penistone.armed.forces.day@gmail.com' (I'm just posting this for them, not part of the team)
