1. When I first met my wife she only knew a little about my interests and I had learnt from previous experiences that I would need to slowly interduce her to all of what I did. Started slowly with the more comon then moved onto the less . Before she knew it it was to late as she was now fully imersed in my world and enjoyed the days and wekends away. This started with just haveing an excuse to go away for the weekend and see different shops. My interests go from aircraft, shooting,AFV's and steam engines. Over the years she has shown more and more interest, but at times have realised that she was now starting to think the way I do, scary thought though it is. She has made 2 very obvious coments to show this. The first when we where out driving I i noted a Rolls Royce for sale, I comented that we had passed a "roller" for sale. This caused her to coment, was it a Fowler, Burrel or Garrett. These being all makes of Steam rollers. She was more than a little shocked when I comented that it was only a car. She said at the time that she was official to far gone! Another time was when choosing a Tracked AFV, I had looked at Sabre's, scorpion 432,433 and evan the AMX13. This time she passed the coment that still to this days makes me smile. "Get the Sabre its the most practical" MY question to you is at what point did your other half know that they where lost and what did they say or do which let you know or make them realise them had become as Normal as the rest of us!!!!:cool2:

5. Hello a year ago i purchased my willys jeep, and were just starting to restore it. it seems to be turning out a lot more Original than it was (i knew it had Original body chassis and engine, but more and more Original details seem te be appearing...) but THE most intriguing detail seems to lie under 2 coats of paint..the last owner had converted it in to a canadian unit jeep (with matching green brown colour)
beneath that is is a dark (NOT nato ) green,
and beneath that on the red is the Original olove drag HOWEVER on the hood an Original hood number has appeared, but on the front bumper an 82 AB marking has appeared..<so my question is : are there any sources that list which jeeps where assigned to unit? ie how can i find out if this is Originalmy second question is: did Original ignitions (ie where the keys go in) have numbers below are some pics

10. My Saracen is currently having problems with the electrics; When attempting to turn the headlights on, the 30A breaker is tripping. This seems to be happening when I move the light switch at all, even a little bit, which would be switching on the side and tail lights only. I suspect that the switch panel may be shorting internally, but the vehicle has been repainted in the not too distant past, which involved removing all of the external lights and wings, so there could be a short in one of those. Can anyone give any suggestions? How hard is it to rebuild the switch panel, or find a replacement? Cheers, Terry
11. A longshot, but do we have any WW1 era vehicle owners in the Kent/Essex/E Sussex area? If so, could you drop me a line, please? A friend is trying to organise something for the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War, next year. Many thanks, in advance.
12. Am I dreaming or do I recall from country fairs or maybe the Royal Tournament from days of old that there was a race between two teams and specially prepared Land Rovers that drove into the arena and then came apart into major sub assemblies in a few minutes and then back together and drove out again? Can we put any images and recollections on this subject into the public domain?
13. Hi all. Anyone any idea what a set of original F marked Jeep seats are worth. I have a set (2 fronts, one rear) that I could do with selling. It's a shame for them to just sit in my garage if someone can use them. I sold my Ford Jeep a few years ago after putting repro seats in it. The two fronts are in useable condition, just need a bit of tlc. The rear has some rot in it so needs repair. I also have a Ford pintle hook but again I have no idea of value. Hope someone out there has some idea because I don't. Nige.

15. Hello all, my Leyland Martian steering tank states OM13 mineral oil is to be used but someone prior to my ownership has marked on it that OM33 oil is to be used, now are either of these oil types suitable for use with a more modern power steering pump - namely from a 1993 Cummins C series engine or will the more modern seals in the pump not like it ? Cheers Chris

20. Why is it that, over the past few months, each post I view has every photograph displayed twice??? Do I have a settings problem? Robert
21. Hi All, Quick question, but not strictly military LR related? On the bulkhead behind the seats on 90, 110 and possibly series are two oval holes blanked off with plates and gaskets. I have never seen these removed or anything in their place. So, what are they for, why go to the expense of making the holes and then plating them up with gaskets? Over to you!
22. Hi, we have a newly acquired 88 mm Flak gun with the three-piece barrel. We are attempting to unscrew the locking collar, shown below, from the barrel. A TM we found says this lock collar is left hand thread, but it's putting up a helluva fight. A YouTube video we just found shows a museum somewhere in Europe also attempting to remove the collar based on it being a left hand thread, and then they show the collar coming off by screwing it CCW, i.e it has a right hand thread. Can anyone clarify? Left hand or right hand thread? Thanks, Malcolm
23. Hi ...not directly miliitary but looking to the groups expertise....can anyone remind me why a 4 stroke petrol engine would "hunt" ( rev up and die down of its own accord) when ticking over. Fuel problem ? Electrical/distributor ?Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks Andy
24. I have found out the numbers of my type of vehicle are fewer than previously loan, i have spoken to my insurance company and they are not sure how to proceed. Does anyone know of a specialist insurance valurer for military vehicles hopefully in Scotland
25. My QL fire tender is finally ready for the road, I am having trouble getting the engine to behave. It is fitted with a 40RZFAIPO instead of the 35RZFAIPO and the distributor is a Lucas DVXH6A not the Lucas DVZ6A. The DVXH6A is listed for jaguar, humber, lagonda, rover and a few others but not a Bedford. The bob weights look very different to the DVZ6A according to the book of words. Anybody any ideas?
