  2. Good evening, a short time ago there was a question re mirrors on here. Before I replied I did some "searching"........but did not save......grrrrrrrr Now I am looking for the post war rectangular mirror fitted to GMC's and DODGES......I just cant find where I found them Please does anyone know where i might find them. (feeling pretty stupid now) Thanks in advance
  3. Hi, Does anyone have access to or know where to get dimensions for the Mk1 style of barrel for the 2 pdr anti tank gun ?. I've attached a picture of the tapered and slightly flared end style of barrel. Thanks.
  4. Can anyone help identify this mysterious antenna base? It was found roof mounted on the rear of a post-war (1950s/60s) British Army softskin vehicle? The spring should be vertical. Unfortunately all cabling had already been removed. The curved base looks suspicious. Could this possibly be for an aircraft antenna? Used for ground to air communications perhaps? I'd be grateful for any information. Many thanks. Alan
  5. Hi I have a friend who is restoring an ex Belgian Scorpion. He wants to fit a Clansman harness instead of the Belgian one and needs the pin diagram for the RBJ. It looks as if the 14 pin plugs both into and from the RBJ are dedicated to the Comms but obviously the Clansman cable to the Driver and from the Gunner are 12 core. Has anyone anything that can shed some light on this? Thanks Richard
  6. I recently bought a Racal VRM5080 VHF radio on eBay, which came with an antenna base with built-in 563 AAMTU. When plugged up it makes encouraging TUAAM-like whirring and clunking noises when changing frequency, but with two Clansman antenna sections in it the SWR is appalling. Does anyone know what length whip it's expecting to find? Andy
  7. So, I am interested to know if the same part used on different vehicles while physically being the same did they get a different FV number based on application? Let me give an example, the oil bath air cleaner on a Ferret, a Saracen, a Saladin and a Stalwart, all look the same.
  8. I am doing a parallel build of AFV Club 1/35th scale A.E.C. Dorchester LP and HP. Can anyone help me with any photos or know of any restored vehicles. I do have the drawings pack from The Tank Museum which will be a great help. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Cheers Kevin
  9. Anyone have the retaining chain for the inter-vehicular connector (jumper cable) installed on their M10 ammo trailer? I need closeup shots in order to buy the correct type of chain as mine is missing. I also need to know how/where it attaches to the tongue, and details for the ring that goes around the cable. The pics in the manual aren't detailed enough. Here is the description: CHAIN, weldless, double loop, type 1, S., 0.105 in., 10 1/2 in. long. Thanks all, Tom
  10. Hi all, I'm still in the process of gathering parts to restore my 10cwt stores trailer and I need some more locker door catches, I recently acquired 3 on eBay but I need a few more. does anyone have any stashed away or know a person / location where there may be some? regards Dave
  11. Hello, Can someone tell me how the capping on the very outsides of the tailboard is fitted? From behind most bedfords look like the capping has the full height of the tailboard which would mean that either the capping is behind the top angle iron at the inside of the truck or the capping is shorter at the inside to fit the angle iron properly to the tailboard? I don't know if it is correct at my truck. Thanks, Danny
  12. I am thinking of a new MV, and very much like the look of a DAF YA126. Saw one in action at W&P the other year (with some crazy Dutch guys) and was very impressed. What are people's opinions on these trucks? Are the practical (very subjective...relatively practical is probably a better phrase). Good and bad points. Spares availability? Better to get one from Netherlands and import? Many Thanks Mick
  13. Hi Troops, after the purchase of my AEC Militant MKI 38EP19, I discovered these back rests in the cargo compartment. I don't believe they belong to my Militant and at a recent vehicle show I asked several owners of various vehicles (Champ, Jeep etc.) if they were familiar with this type of backrest. No one up to now has been able to identify them. Any ideas?
  14. Hi Just looking for confirmation that the antenna base bolts (those which pass all the way through to the vehicle mount) are M6. I need to drill out some broken studs in the fixed antenna mount on the turret of a Scorpion and want to make sure that I rethread them to the correct size/pitch. Many thanks Richard
  15. Hi, I have a couple of cracks on the top of the cylinder head and the plug holes fill with water if left standing for a few weeks. Is anyone making new heads ? or where is the best source for a usable replacement, not too fussed for genuine ww2 parts but I'm sure a replacement would be easier than fixing this one.
  16. Hello any inf on the above markings the red squaire with a whith 38 in side and the 7? on the con voy disc I have found out that my landy YOU HAVE TRUCK 1/4 TON 4X4 GENERAL SERVICE ROVER MK3 FROM WAR OFFICE CONTRACT 6/VEH/16223. IT ENTERED SERVICE ON 8 NOVEMBER 1954 UNDER ARMY FORM GENERAL 1033 ISSUE/RECEIPT VOUCHER NUMBER ASC/R/2359 [12TH B VEHICLE DEPOT ASHCHURCH IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE]. IT WAS STRUCK OFF CHARGE AT WD STORAGE AND DISPOSAL DEPOT RUDDINGTON IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ON 28 APRIL 1964. OTHER ROVER MK3 FROM SAME CONTRACT WITH SAME DATE AND RV [8 NOV 54 & ASC/R/2359] WERE: 38 BP 47-S/O BRITISH FORCES ARABIAN PENINSULA 30 NOV 60 38 BP 60-S/O MALTA 31 OCT 65 38 BP 80-S/O KENYA CENSUS RETURN 31 OCT 64 38 BP 92-S/O FAR EAST LAND FORCES CENSUS RETURN 31 OCT 64 39 BP 02-S/O RUDDINGTON 15 MAY 63 39 BP 95-S/O FAR EAST LAND FORCES CENSUS RETURN 30 JUNE 64 41 BP 70-S/O EAST AFRICA CENSUS RETURN 31 MARCH 64 41 BP 91-S/O MALTA CENSUS RETURN 28 FEB 63 42 BP 09-S/O RUDDINGTON 26 AUG 63 THIS INDICATES THAT ALL THESE VEHICLES WERE ALLOCATED TO SAME UNIT ON 8 NOV 54. THE UNIT WAS LATER POSTED OVERSEAS; POSSIBLY MIDDLE EAST LAND FORCES AS YOU HAVE FOUND DESERT COLOUR ON YOUR VEHICLE. AS TIME WENT ON, THE LAND ROVERS WERE TRANSFERRED TO OTHER UNITS AND THEATRES OF OPERATION. YOURS AND TWO OTHERS RETURNED TO THE UK.
  17. Can anybody copy me a wiring diagram for a land rover 110 defender v8 snatch. The additional wiring is not the problem so a normal military v8 diagram would be fine. Toby
  18. Somebody i know is getting a Morris MRA1 truck, in need of a bit of restoration but not too bad overall, he has asked me to keep an eye out for anything MRA1.... So not been entirely sure what an MRA1 is other than its a 1 Ton truck from the same post war era as the mighty Humber 1 Ton truck and its slightly less mighty sibling the Austin K9 1 Ton truck. I found a picture of one, but i couldnt get a copy to put on here, anybody like to fill me in on what its all about, it would seem that they are pretty rare beasts.
  19. Hi , Before I start just wanted to say I know this thread is in the British vehicles section and it is jeep related, but the my question is to do with jeeps used in the British Army The M prefix numbers, how were they distributed to the vehicles ie by regiment or division or applied as they were unpacked, just curious as iv'e tried searching for a bonnet number in pictures relating to a certain Infantry regiment aswell as the Brigade etc so I can paint it on my jeep, cant find any, annoying thing is I have a pic of my Great Uncle in a jeep but the bonnet isn't in the bloody picture:mad: Regards, Scott oh if this thread needs moving to another forum apologies in advance

  21. Hi all, i don't suppose anyone out there has any information on the RBJ for the Mk 3 agent? just started to go through the turret wiring on the IWM's Cent and someone has disconnected everything. Now I don't know whether it's a RBJ that is originally fitted to Mk3's, but the FV No is FV31559 Any help much appreciated Paul
  22. Has anyone ever been able to buy anything off Army Radio Sales Co ? I've tried in a few occasions and never even had a reply.
  23. The steady plates for my ferret were put in a safe place last year, so safe in fact, I have no idea where they are! I'm looking for any for sale or failing that, does anyone have the plans so I can make replacements?
  24. Hi i have a question that i hope hasnt been covered here before The heated windscreen for a landrover in my parts book is listed as part number RRC7310 and i have a relevant wolf electrical diagram ( i acquired ) that shows this connected via a relay and switch etc to the pair of 12v batteries my question is are the RRC7310 screens able to handle 24v ? Its only running off a 15A fuse so i cant see it being 12 v off a dropper has anyone got a genuine winterised wolf that they can measure the voltage at the screen when its running many thanks
  25. I have bought a small gas turbine apu just to run up for giggles but in place of the starter there is a generator. I want to know if I feed this electricity will it turn? I cant remember how to post a photo but there are 4 terminals which are two obvious pairs and the data plate shows Rating-----Ground----------Flight KW---------2.2--------------4.4 volts rms----83--------------115 Phase------single----------single HZ----------192----------220/400 RPM-----min 5760-----6600/12000 Any help much appreciated as the fitting and drive pinion is correct for the turbine. On another point, is the ignitor box critical on polarity? The feed is 24v but I have no way of telling which is pos and which is neg apart from one runs to ground - but I don't know if an aeroplane (HS125) is pos or neg earth and I don't want to blow the box by getting it wrong. Many thanks Dave
