  3. Hello everyone, the Shuttleworth Collection, near Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, are holding a 1940's event with flying display, hangar dance and military vehicle displays on the 18th of June 2016. I am.a volunteer there on the aircraft and vehicles and have been asked to try and source some extra vehicles and displays. Some of the members from here have been before and will hopefully be able to come again to display, the collection is offering free entry to the event for exhibitors and as stated above there will be a hangar dance during the day with dancers and singers. This will be the second show of the new at home formats the Collection is trying which sees the aircraft and vehicles combined with displays on the public side of the fence, it will be a laid back show with flying happening throughout the day and will also have a visit from one of the BBMF spitfires during the afternoon. Please contact me if you are interested and I'll pass your details to the organisers. http://www.shuttleworth.org/events/athome-june/ Cheers Steve
  4. Tomorrow 30th May a classic car show just off the High St in Prestatyn. There is a section for Military vehicles and is well worth a visit for any body in the area, forecast promises a warm sunny day.
  5. Hi all. My old unit is holding a families day on the 30th July between the hours of 1300 - 1600hrs at Bramley training area in between Reading and Basingstoke. In short, Families Day allows family members of serving and ex-serving members to have a fun afternoon and see some on the kit used by the unit. I'd like to get some vehicles to the event and wondered if any forum members would like an afternoon out with their vehicles. It's not paid attendance and children and partners will ask to sit in your pride and joy so if this frightens the pants of you don't offer! Lol Ex Special Forces vehicles, whether vintage of modern would be very welcome but any thing ex military would be nice. It would be great to get maybe 5 - 10 different vehicles there. If anyone can come, please e-mail me on markheliops@aol.com I will need names and vehicle details for security clearance prior to the event. Thanking you in advance. Mark -Heliops
  6. I don't know how many of you know but at one point there were plans to create a National Fire Service Museum at Weedon in Northamptonshire. Anyway for one reason and another it has never been opened to the public, despite this they have collected a vast number of appliances and other items. Many have sat outside for nearly a decade so aren't in the best of conditions, some though have been stored inside, although sadly as stated before many haven't and as such have nearly been lost. Now though it seems that the dream is over as on Saturday 31st August items are being put up for disposal. Viewing and bidding takes place on Saturday with bids being opened on Monday 2nd September. Why am I telling you this? Well there are a number of items which will no doubt be of interest to members on here with there being appliances from the wartime age being put up for disposal. They include: 1. Austin K4 Escape Carrier: Cornwall FB: GXA 725 2. Austin k4 Pump: Cornwall County FB: MCV 917 3. Austin K2 ATV with trailer pump NFS: GXH 962 4. Bedford MW: Specialist Metals Appliance: UKAEA Aldermaston: RMO 273 There are a total of 18 lots for sale as well as other items of interest. Now I have no connection to museum or any of the vehicles in question I just felt that it would be interesting for all on here to take a look at. I have attached a couple of items which should explain things further for those interested. Scott fsnmtviewingday.pdf vehicle_disposal_list_for_leaflet.doc

  13. The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) is steam heritage line which runs from Cheltenham to Winchcombe in the Cotswold's. We have just had our Wartime in the Cotswold's weekend and have enjoyed the pleasure of very favorable feedback from our visitors. For this, the fourth year of the event, we have teamed up with the community in Winchcombe town and have showcased the best that the military reenactors can offer with a military and vintage car convoy with King George VI and Monty attending a ceremony in the town. The WITC event will be held again in April 2017 and we welcome any vehicles to the event. The Centenary of the End of the Great War will be upon us soon, and the railway is considering hosting an event to celebrate that momentous occasion in September. As a precursor to the main centenary in 2018 we would like to invite interested parties to a mini event to be held in September 2016. Please would any vehicle owner who would like to attend and to participate contact myself. David Austin Events Organiser WITC 2017 GWSR.

From what i gather its their main event of the year, when all the runners are given a run out, a bit like Tankfest - correct? Any recommendations wether one particular day is better than another? 17. I just had a look at Dominques website for this event and he has amassed a super collection of vehicles for this event. http://www.100ansvs.org/?page_id=82 Two (I think) owned by posters on here. Interesting to see a picture of a WW1 German Adler which has been restored. Two trucks shown as Packard, one is not, the other does not appear to be running, but maybe it was photographed a while ago. Three Peugeots! Marcel, is that your wagon?
  18. Saturday 2 April 2016 Kent County Showground, Detling Nr Maidstone Kent. They call it the Heritage Transport show, covering anything wheeled including; Buses, Trucks, Tractors, cars, Steam and so on. Given Kent's wealth of Military History, MV's are most welcome too. Being marketed as the season opener for all strands of the vehicle preservation world. Good selection of trade stands as well, flogging everything from new old stock tractor parts to second hand bus tickets and looky-likey designer watches. Good day out, but does get a bit draughty sometimes. Email to: amy@kentshowground.co.uk for an entry form
  19. Is anyone going? Not heard much about it this year...
  20. Hello! I'm one of the volunteers at the Dig For Victory Show down in Somerset. We're currently looking for both military and civilian vehicles to come along to our show! The focus of the event is Britain in the 1940’s and so we accept a wide range of period vehicles to make the scene complete. Although the event is focused on WWII there is a Timeline dedicated to the display of civilian and military post- war vehicles. If you fancy coming and bringing a vehicle, please follow this link and fill in the form: http://digforvictoryshow.com/get-involved/vehicles Here's a video of the 2015 event: It's a nice day out and plenty to see and do including military vehicle demonstrations (seeing a sherman tank powerslide was a personal highlight), music and dancing, talks, loads of displays, and shops too. If you have any questions about it then drop me a line!
