  2. Hi all. Just to make you aware of a local WW2 event in East Sussex, that I have now been placed in charge of (well, vehicles and WW2). Last year the show was a great success, with a beautiful backdrop of Mitchelham Priory, and I hope that this year it can grow; it is taking place June 17th and 18th, which is a Saturday and Sunday, although Vehicles may arrive Friday evening. https://sussexpast.co.uk/event/world-war-ii-day Please see link. I am looking forward to vehicle bookings from you all. I have a list of last years exhibitors who I shall be contacting, but all new faces are welcome. It is free to exhibit and camping is available with your vehicle overnight (Friday-Sunday), although this has to be respectful due to the nature of the property, etc. Unfortunately it is strictly WW2 and Allied themed ( Please email reference Axis bookings) even my own Land Rover will have to live in the car park, but we are welcoming- Living History groups. Displays. Home front displays 1940's displays and of course as many vehicles as we can take. The only current stipulation for vehicles is they must be less than 3x3M in width and height, that's 9.8ft in old money. As there are restrictions on the gatehouse entrance. I have been also informed that 10T is the maximum weight limit of the bridge to the entrance. A GMC CCKW 353 will fit through, that was proved last year.   4. Good Evening I am a new member on this site. My name is Ciaran and I am one of the organisers of the Wings & Wheels Car, Bike & Military Vehicle Show. This event takes place on Sunday 16th July at Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Upminster, ESSEX, RM14 2TN. This year we are expanding to now incorporate Military Vehicles! As the Military and Flying machines show decided not to return to Damyns Hall, it was felt that there would be a demand both from the public and the exhibitors to see military vehicles at the airfield again. Wings & Wheels is already a well established event at Damyns Hall, with over 300 cars and bikes on display last year, as well as live music, beer tent, stalls, food vendors, helicopter rides, trial flights and a range of family entertainment. Military vehicles will be able to camp from Friday 14th, 12 noon onwards until Monday 17th, 12 noon. As well as showing your vehicles to the public on Sunday 16th, there will be food, bar and a free live music concert on Saturday evening for exhibitors!   5. Penistone Armed Forces Day 24th June 2017 11am - 5pm. An open Invitation to all military vehicle owners to attend the above event, Sat 24th June. It is the main Armed Forces Day arena event for South Yorkshire, being supported by both Sheffield City Council and Barnsley MBC. Location - Penistone Showground, a rural Pennine market town setting, amidst some fantastic countryside. Any period of military vehicle is welcome and there is plenty of space available to accommodate even the largest. Appropriate period uniform is welcome – except NO Axis SS. Vehicle owners who are part of re-enactment groups who would like their group there to provide a fuller display please contact the organisers to discuss things. All periods are welcome, but please be correctly equipped and attired, and respectful in your representation. This is Armed Forces Day- not a ‘blat fest’. :-) Having said that, it is going to be a fun family day in order to raise funds for charity. Also in attendance, weather and everything else permitting, will be Parachutists, Marching Bands, Military Music, Royal Navy Field Gun Competition, Junior Assault Course, Vehicle Displays, Re-enactments, Demonstrations and a Police Dog Handling display. The Charity being supported in 2017 will be Combat Stress (Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society). Any vehicle owner attending MUST contact the event organiser at least two weeks before the event - there is no booking form. You need to be 'on the list' to gain entry. The usual show rule applies regarding having valid Third Party Insurance Cover. Please be prepared to have to show it. All vehicles to be on site, movement finished, by 10am, thanks.   6. Hi, The latest KVE News is now on our website, www.corowaswim-in.org. The themes will be Year of the International and Year of the Carrier, but all military vehicles are encouraged to attend. As the Carrier theme needs a bit more organising, regarding areas to display their versatilities, etc. We would like owners to make contact with us as soon as possible in order to gauge numbers, etc. Even if you are not sure currently if you can make it, please let us now. If you go to pages 9 and 10, the Carrier co-ordinator, Harvey, has some info for you and a data sheet that he would like completed if possible. Entry form is downloadable from the website. It should be made clear that if you intend bringing your military vehicle, you must complete an entry form and pay the fee otherwise you will not be able to take part in the activities. This is in order that you and your vehicle are covered under the KVE insurance.   8. As the title says, Blind veterans u.k. (formerly St Dunstans) are holding an event to mark Armed forces day 2017 at their Brighton centre. The event will take place on Sunday 25 june and they are looking for vehicles ,re enactors and displays. If you can help please contact Stacey Jones at the centre.   9. On Saturday the 30th September 2017 the Spirit of Normandy Trust and Return to Normandy will be holding the Annual Normandy Veterans Reunion at Castle Field Southsea, between 10am and 5pm. It is hoped that up to 100 D-Day and Normandy Veterans will attend with their families, members of the public are also welcome to event. As part of the day we would like to incorporate as many WW2 Themed displays and Stands as possible, especially Vehicles and Re-Enactors. Anyone displaying a vehicle or attending as a re-enactor will be presented with a special commemorative coin and provided lunch, in addition a trophy will be presented for the best vehicle. Who is going down to the Dig Out at Dallas Autos Newbury this coming Sunday 8th of January 2017 this is like a car boot for anything military it costs a £1.oo or £2.oo to get in and about £8.oo to sell if I remember rightly well worth a visit if nothing else to get a fix of the green stuff Commander
  11. Join us as we mark the anniversary of D Day and the 75th anniversary of the opening of the US ATC. Event aimed at vehicle owners and living history groups. Based at Cobbaton Combat Collection with large road run through Barnstaple and Braunton to the training area, vehicles will the proceed in convoy over the dunes where the US Army trained in 1943/44 to visit the concrete LCT structures where you will form up for a ceremony. After out onto Saunton beach for a blast up and down the beach. Back at Cobbaton will be a BBQ and film, then on the Sunday a chill out etc. Armour already booked plus 30 other vehicles, so dont miss out, this is your chance to drive on the original training areas.   14. hi, Just posting a message from the KVE President regarding current flooding at Corowa, in relation to the Annual Corowa Swim-In & Military Vehicle Gathering in March 2017. The photo attached was taken this week looking from bottom of Sanger St. towards the bridge with Bangerang Park on the left: "G’Day all As most of you may be aware that the southern and western regions of NSW, andareas of Victoria, have been having some severe weather over the last few weeks. This has resulted in a number of townships and communities being flooded. Unfortunately Corowa has also been affected with Flood waters up to the bottom of Sanger Street, including Ball Park Caravan Park and other caravan parks nearby. What this means for us is still too early to determine but our hearts and thoughts go out to the Community. We will be liaising with our Stakeholders at an appropriate time to continue with our planning of the Swim In, but until then we will let the community focus on recovering from these floods. Please be patient and wait for us to release periodical updates on our planning. Some things may need to change and some may be fine to continue, these we cannot answer until we know and understand what condition the Corowa community is in. Our plans are always dependant on the weather and current conditions at the time. Thanks for your patience and Support for the Corowa Community Scott Rough KVE President" We have heard from another of our committee members, Neville Smith who has witnessed many floods in Corowa over the past 60 years and once the water recedes things will return back to normal fairly quickly.   15. Just wanted to make members aware of the grand opening of the new Nissen hut at Bottisham airfield museum in Cambridgeshire on the 24/25th September 2016. We are a new innovative museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the brave men and women of the RAF and USAAF who served at Bottisham during WW2. Any WW2 MV's would be assured of a warm welcome - please let us know if you are planning on coming so we can reserve space. Other attractions will include historic aircraft flyby's, aircraft cockpits, re-enactors, 1940's singer, trade stands and much much more.   16. Lacock at War is happening this weekend, 20th & 21st August, in the historic village of Lacock in Wiltshire (SN15 2LQ). This small, but perfectly formed show will have 23 Re-enactment groups, 75 Military Vehicles, 1940s singer Madeline Brown, Paul Caspers George Formby tribute (you would swear blind he is George reincarnated) BBMF Lancaster flypast at 14:25 on Saturday, Red Arrows flypast at 18:40 Sunday. FREE ENTRY, please park in the National Trust car park (£3.00 per vehicle for the day. If you need any more information please P.M. me.

  18. The Purbeck Rally starts tomorrow (doesn't really get going until Saturday), down in Dorset. A micro Dorset Steam Fair with various machines on show, cars, bikes, lorries, stationary engines and military vehicles too. I'll be there with my Abbot, so if you visit, say hello!

  20. Has anyone been or going to Dunchurch this year. I am thinking of going but would like a little background on the venue as its about 2hrs drive and don't want to get all that way to be disappointed. Had a great long weekend at the YWE show, and made some truly fantastic friends there. Its great to put the faces to the names from this forum. Found some ferret buddy's.
  21. This is the second event being held at Uttoxeter Race Course this weekend it is free admission with a military vehicle or if in full military kit I have been told it starts at 09.00 hrs Sunday till 15.00hrs Commander
