  2. FV105 Sultan is a British Army command and control vehicle based on the CVR(T) platform. It has a higher roof than the APC variants, providing a more comfortable "office space" inside. This contains a large vertical map board and desk along one side, with a bench seat for three people facing it. Forward of this are positions for the radio operator with provision for four radios and vehicle commander, whose seat can be raised which also gave his access to the pintle mounted G.P.M.G. 17. Hi everyone, Does anyone have any suggestions where I can rent some storage space for a CVRT in North Yorkshire? Any leads greatly appreciated. Edit: I have just about enough space at home, but I doubt the neighbours will appreciate its presence, can't think why... ) Thanks, Mike
  18. Well, just when you think you know a thing or two life shows you otherwise! I found this on evil bay today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alvis-Streaker-Military-Excavator-Manufacturers-Specification-Sheet-/300659515867?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item4600b421db#ht_2870wt_944 I'm wondering did it ever get past the drawing board stage? Wouldn't that be a blast at Beltring and around home. How could the missus deny you owning an MV that was also useful for something? Robin (not "Rob" fyi)
  19. While working on our Sabre last night, I suddenly realised that I was unaware that our Sabre has extra protection under the hull for the driver and turret areas. As we dont have a Scimitar or Scorpion I can't compare them. I know our Spartans don't have it. Was this an upgrade when the vehicle was re roled into a Sabre? Regards R
  20. I went in to work yesterday to sort out a piece of agricultural kit for my principle as he wanted to use it. I noticed that the Stormer was out of it's bay, he had wanted to take some of the guests for a ride so presumed he was doing that. About 25 minutes later as I was finishing up my work, he turned up but not in the Stormer which didn't bode well. Long story short we visited the stricken vehicle. Hats off to him that he heard something was wrong and stopped it where it was. The pictures show the basic problem, I believe I know what the fault is, and that is that the bearings in the idler / tensioner wheel are shot. The recovery will be interesting. I will have this to deal with on Monday morning. R
  21. Can I please draw the attention of CVRT operators to page 20 of issue 74 of KIT! magazine from 2010 Here is a link if you have not already found it on the web. http://dev1.acms.mod.uk/armysafety/kit_mag.htm R
  22. Striker.... now with correct headlamps - at last ! Photographed 29th August, Bromsgrove
  23. Major rebuild over last 14 months. Ex Witham J60 fitted - which appeared to run fine before it was fitted into vehicle. Most engine ancillaries are new... HT Leads, Coil, distributor etc. Had new carb... which i have replaced with another new carb... to eliminate fuel issues. New fuel pump, lines and filter. See video on youtube taken today. Goes quite well considering its probably running on 5 cyls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95w0ka97dnw I'm thinking sticking/dropped valve... so compression test next. Any ideas guys....:nut:
