  1. Thanks Chris. I've had a quote via Parcel2Go from YODEL. What would you identify the package as? Luke
  2. TNT only ship business to business. They recommended a residential courier, back to square one.
  3. Thanks for the replies, its going to the Midlands so should be ok. I'll will inform the courier what they are, (deactivated ww2 guns?) Luke
  4. Thanks for the quick reply Tony, Lots of cardboard and duck tape it is, Good to hear TNT are sensible, just a thought, should the package be marked against air travel? Luke
  5. I have some bits to sell, and the chap wants them posted, just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for a courier? Also how should I go about packing them? Its a Bren and an SMLE. Thanks, Luke
  6. Thanks for that, exactly what I was hoping for! Looks like a trip to France may be on the cards. Cheers, Luke
  7. Hello, We have located a Dodge in Normandy for sale at a dealers, its registered in France and is roadworthy, the problem is I can't find any concrete information on possible Import Duty or VAT once entering the UK. Has anyone else done this before and what did you encounter, we are going to ring the DVLA/HMRC and see what they say, but I'm not expecting them to be very helpful. Many Thanks, Luke

Wow! No time wasted there! What sort of state are they in? Any chance of some piccies?
  11. Thanks for the help Tony, I think I'll scrap this idea, and continue collecting deact's instead, much easier and less hassle..... Luke
  12. 23. Section 38 defines a 'realistic imitation firearm' as an imitation firearm which has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable, for all practical purposes, from a real firearm. 'Imitation firearm' is defined in section 57(4) of the Firearms 1968 as 'any thing which has the appearance of being a firearm...whether or not it is capable of discharging any shot, bullet or other missile'. The term 'real firearm' is defined in section 38(7) as either a firearm of an actual make or model of a modern firearm, or a generic modern firearm. The term 'modern firearm' is defined in subsection 8 as a firearm other than one whose appearance would tend to identify it as having a design and mechanism of a sort first dating before 1870. The effect of this definition is that realistic imitations of pre-1870 firearms are not caught by the new offence Source http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/about-us/home-office-circulars/circulars-2007/031-2007/ Thats my interpretation of it anyway........
  13. Hi chaps, I would like to get a replica of the revolver used by Clint Eastwood in 'For a Few Dollars More', after some research I've discovered I'm after a Colt Single Action Army 5 1/2" Artillery model. Ideally I'd like it to have the Scorpion grips as seen in the film. If anyone has any links or knows where I can find one it would be much appreciated. I've also been reading that because the original design of the revolver is pre 1870, the replica can be owned without membership of a reenactment group. Could anyone clarify this? Many Thanks, Luke
  14. The USS Oriskany I believe. http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=23692 At least the structure isn't being cut up in a Chinese scrapyard.
  15. I would sure like to but alas it's not possible, the driver has decided it's Trucks and Troops and as I said before sadly other commitments for Bank Holiday Monday, and I imagine many folks will have packed up and be leaving early on the Monday? Hope you all have a good show. Take lots of piccies..... Perhaps it's time the Overlord gang and the MVT sorted the dates out :-| maybe a show in July or August would be better for the South. It would also save a train fare to Kent to satisfy my MV needs.....
  16. I would like to attend but other commitments rule out going to two shows the coming Bank Holiday Weekend 29-31st May. It is a bit silly IMO to have two fairly large shows within such close proximity on the same weekend. Lots of people cannot dedicate a whole weekend to MV's and so are missing out (me).... Any thoughts.............
  17. We intend to make an appearence probably on the Sunday. No vehicle though :embarrassed:. Any idea what trade stands will be there? Slim pickings last year....
  18. Im fairly sure and judging by the pictures that it was gutted inside. IIRC a very early AS90 and some Cheftain ARRV's were going out on the range. It's seems odd doing this, as in 40 years time, enthusiasts will probably be taking these back off the range and restoring them back to running condition. Surely other objects can be used rather than historically important AFV's.

    Vulcan XH558

It is a shame to see such a large amount of money thrown at a project which never had a long term future. Several family members of mine worked at Cobhams and built parts for Vulcan refueling systems and have themselves donated a packet of money for the project, they 'own' several landing lights and other bits and bobs, done through the sponser a part scheme. The cancellations at Yeovilton and Waddington saddenned them and many others deeply and it got to the case where everyone was getting a bit peeved off they hadn't seen it fly. The first view of XH558 came at RIAT 09, were we all elated to see it. It really was quite an event. The problem is many of the people we spoke to at the show, (other enthusiasts) were fed up with the 'guilt tripping' and emotional plea's which extended to the commentry as the display was ongoing. Million's of pounds have been allocated via the National Lottery and sponsorship/donations, where has it all gone if the airframe has only got three years left to fly, which says to me significant studies were not carried out. Also how has that huge sum of money only lasted until now? What has it been spent on? Admin and bureacracy - I expect so. If the RAF couldn't keep it going, then what hope did the project have? There seems to have been no long term thought gone into this. Personally, I agree with antarmike, they have had there dough and failed to use it properly, they have had alot of money out of me, and its hard to see where it all went. The public will not donate any more to this 'White Elephant' and I don't blame them. Vulcan to the Sky has had it's lot and now must accept the inevitable and secure the airframe's future as a static entity. Sorry for the long rant, just my feelings on the situation.
  20. Thanks Steve, I may have to do some enquiries down at the Bovvie archives, should be easy enough, my Dad built them in the ninties. Can't wait to see this, we will be at A & E for sure, wouldn't miss it for the world:-D All those Shermans, M18's and hopefully this M10c, can't wait! If you see two burkes wearing Tankers jackets and looking very very envious give us a shout:-) Cheers, Luke
  21. Cheers for the reply's Adrian, It seems a shame that the T number and its Bitish Army cannot be sourced, just imagine what it might have seen:shocked: Will the new owners be keeping the same tracks? Cheers, Luke
  22. Wow! Can't believe you managed to convert that in 8 weeks :wow: Great work!
  23. Must be wartime bureacracy then:cool2: Shame there is no history or markings underneath the paint, I guess you have the serial number so you know the US Army number and the British 'T' Number?
  24. Hi Adrian, cheers for posting all the pictures and information, I was wondering why the US Army used M10's with the diesel engines in the ETO after they dismissed the M4A2, due to possible problems with fuel supplies. And also do you know any of the wartime history of the M10? Thanks for an excellent thread, Luke
