Neil, Unless you have agreed with the insurance company's valuation already, you can negotiate for a higher value if you can't buy a similar aged and condition Range Rover for the money they are giving you. From your post, it wasn't your fault, so your insurance company should claim back your excess from the other driver's insurance.
