  5. Hi HMVF, Can anyone please advise me on the points gap for my K9 lorry. Also tyre pressure. And are some small Tyre side wall cracks OK for the road. I also need to know what type of oil goes in the gearbox, axles etc please, Thank you, Colin
  6. Hello HMVF, I notice you have an introduction thread on here so I would like to introduce myself. I have been in engineering most of my working career. And still employed for the next 6 years in the Nuclear -power industry. I have been curious and hands on mechanical everything since my very early years. I have a private pilots license, and have flown for around 250 hours as P1. My other hobbies have been steam engineering. I have my own website: www.bailey-steam.com and have been making models and recently full size rail and road steam engines. I have previously owned a TS Commer 2 stroke lorry for a while, and have always wanted a four wheel drive military lorry. I now have an Austin K9 radio truck as my first vehicle. I also have a series 3 land rover. I have extensive workshop facilities at home and they include Automatic gear cutting, boring, milling, turning, slotting etc. So that is useful too. I have attached a photo of my last creation for information. It is a full size Steam Tractor called WARRIOR. I plan to attend the War in the Vale Event. So I hope to meet up with some of you there, Kind Regards Colin Dix
  7. May i ask if anyone know what oils the gearbox, transfer box axles use please? thank you, Colin
  8. thanks Sean for the information. I realise now that fitting the remote is nearly a waste of time as I have fitted it. The hole in the small tube fitting is only 1/8 of an inch, so nearly no flow. I wish I had seen this post earlier. I would have done as you suggest.
  9. I have the brakes sticking on with the Austin. i have stripped one rear wheel and find the axle oil seal just starting to leak. And the wheel cylinder actuator stuck up. I haver removed the cylinder and freed off all the parts, they look in good enough condition to tun again. So can anyone please help me where to get spare cylinder rubbers and the Axle oil seal please? I want to put it right while I have it apart. Kind Regards Colin
  10. I just figured I can disconnect the pipes, and then crank the engine to see which is the feed. Duh, stupid me!
  11. Does anyome know what pipe is the feed an outlet? Small = feed? Any ideas please? Thanks Colin
  12. Sean, That's what I have at present. I have ordered a Fram HPK2 filter base from Ebay and will make a bracket to attach it to the engine with the fittings rotated 90 degrees to allow me to use the existing pipes. I hope top remove the fittings from the top of the old unit and then make some 1/2" NPT adapters by either threading some existing parts to take the new. I can post the detail and some images on here. It may help others in the future. I plan to use a Peugeot 2L HDI diesel filter, if it can deal with a high power turbo diesel, it shoul easily take the flow from these small tubes. I hope the bracket turns up in the post this weekend! Thanks Colin http://www.bailey-steam.com
  13. Thank you everyone for the good discussion. I plan to buy and change the oil this weekend. Also fit a new spin on remote filter unit. I guess the original one is so old! Kind Regards Colin
