  5. Hi Does anyone know best Amp Hours for a 12v (jeep converted from 6v) jeep battery and any suppliers they find best? Gary
  6. Yep most wore parkas and heavier combat trousers etc due to cold conditions, incessant prevailing wind and rather moist conditions etc. All as already said re insignia and rank chevrons etc. Para smock was used as dry kit /spare kit as well Gary
  7. A couple of years ago got a 37 officers pattern BD set and it was orange (I kid you not) I ended up putting it in a large bath with some khaki and other coloured dyes about 4 times and now not so orange but more KIWI or indian army BD colours leaning towards the brown and nothing near GB colours etc. Steer well away from them

    A photo.

Actually it is a photo of Captain James Smith, Tank Commander, showing off the germent he wear at weekends as an active cross dresser. look carefully and you can see the nylon wig and stubble. Goes by name of Jemima I believe.:nut::shocked::kiss:
  10. pe_battery_charger.pdf found the booklet for it, can pm it if anybody wants a pdf of it
  11. Hi, sadly this went to a good home some two years ago and is now in a museum I believe. will keep an eye out if another comes along. seen about 6 since that first posting in 2009 gary
  12. Read this with interest and wondered if it was made a reality. If you have now mastered the last post surely your next task is to do the 'reveille' as the full symbolism for remembrance is the last post - closing the day for the fallen, the 2 minute silence to reflect and remember and reveille to open the new day and the future. Good luck gary
  13. Not forgetting Ralph Bagnold (founder of LRP/LRDG) who used the Model T in his exploration of the sahara and western desert in the 30s whilst a young R Sigs officer.
  14. browsing through this film near the end at 6.00 minutes is a brief few frames of a local RE TA unit driving bedford RL tippers and LWT etc with number plate visible that might be of use to people who might have similar vehicles
  15. sad to hear that, unfortunately too many out there, it is like a minefield. and so many from west africa it seems, I pity any decent trader or customer from there as people tend to tar all with same brush and shy away.
  16. Agreed hence the TFIC (Tongue Firmly in Cheek) what I need now is someone in Scunthorpe who lives near that address to see what is /who lives at that address, the property register has it as a house over 650K. The realistic mailing alone is about double his asking price without an engine lol might string him along for a while to tie up his resources and save someone else from getting pestered by him/her/it. Gary
  17. On my seemingly endless search for a 216 engine for our CMP C60L wrecker (one day we will get one and finally get it on road but it has been 3 years and still nothing) I recently placed an ad on milweb looking for same and received a reply, copied below, which sounds just a wee bit too good to be true hehe (TFIC) a 216 engine for $300 including shipping and a very short delivery time. my question is has anyone else had a promise like this from same person ( goes by name of Jon) and john g partss is email address but although it would be great and sounds too good to be true, and in $'s from UK ??? I wonder if anyone has been caught up in similar promise etc Also I have never ever written to same person although his email says otherwise....I think that some poor vulnerable and unaware people might succumb to his promise, caveat emptor chaps! If it is genuine and he is known I apologise profusely. Gary Hello, Thanks for writing, I still have a Chevrolet 216 engine for sale in excellent condition and decent shape. I have already made shipping inquires and will take a $300 USD shipped. Asking price includes shipping via UPS or FedEx which ever you prefer on a 3 - 4 days delivery, and l'll accept payment via Western union or Moneygram. What's your complete shipping address? Thanks, John Also another mail from same person (John to Jon this time) Jon jon.g.partss@gmail.com Address: 113 Digby St Scunthorpe, Dn15 7LU UK, England
  18. Yep same one I was issued in 74 until we changed over to dpm in late 78 (groan) there were stores full of them to be backloaded and cut up with machete before going for rags, criminal act indeed.
  19. Thanks guys will give them all a go and see what quotes are best etc Gary
  20. hi, I am trying to send an engine from Fife to Reading, it is a 6 cyl chevrolet engine but no idea of weight, approx dimensions 1m x 1m x 600mm. Am wondering if anyone has a courier or carrier they could recommend, would prob need a taillift as it must be over 100 to 150kg. gary
  21. seen one like this which was an instrument repairers tool roll with small srewdrivers and similar- watch and compass etc Gary
  22. yep ancil bag strap, the gpmg one is a lot heavier and stronger made with different comfort pad
  23. Just renewed my jeep insurance today....Footman James (my previous insurer) £177 whilst Adrian flux £108 for same comprehensive cover/deal + a 14 day deal if I find even cheaper they will refund difference.
  24. Not cynical but you will need a motor vehicle mortgage and a seperate income with shares in a Saudi oilfield to run a vehicle - as fewer vehicles on road = less accidents, road wear etc and to make petrol a luxury item and 10x affordable price they will still make money off those who can afford it lol
