  1. See the same landing craft heading southbound on M1 when I was going north from Harrow to Glasgow. Only posted this when I got home but it was about 12ish Gary
  2. Yep quite agree with R Cubed #14 above. happened on here to me recently, in the classified for sale section where I agreed to buy and got reply with email address and asked for details to send money etc and to arrange pick up by courier THEN nothing not even a reply why it has changed etc. see 216 engine for sale in the classified for full trail. an agreement on here should be honoured as an electronic handshake - maybe we need a walk of shame section to name and shame defaulters lol. gary
  3. soxmis, short for Soviet Mission and did what was explained in previous message
  4. Theres a thread about USMC jeeps on the G503 site, mine came from Camp pendleton, San Diego. Base colour was more greener than OD and the lettering and numbers were yellow etc Gary
  5. Will see what we have got, just backloaded all our complete clansman sets from 349, 350. 351/2 353, 320, 321 etc and we had boxes of the different fuzes all to be skipped, if I can get on time will save them and let you all know gary
  6. Hi David glad you saw this, Al at SMVG mentioned you were on here and might see it Regards gary
  7. Hi I have sent this post content to the committee of the Scottish MVG as they may know who might be up in that area from their membership regards Gary
  8. seen better lying on some demolition ranges, or is that where it came from lol. a lot of work ahead
  9. Thanks for reply, am awaiting the seller replying tomorrow if i can get a courier to uplift then that would be ok but if they don't want to do that then all i need is someone to pick up and let me arrange courier to pick up from your address etc. It is a load of ww2 books in a box. they will give me dimensions and address etc tomorrow. Gary
  10. Hi Just won in an auction a load of wartime war illustrated magazines (255 paper comic style) and was wondering if anyone near Sheffield could collect them off seller and pop in a box and send to me- I can arrange for courier or similar or pay for same - also pay for your petrol. I am in Glasgow and am trying to keep costs down to save me running down to get them, these are for our home front displays but seller can only offer collection only and not posting them off. thanks Gary
  11. Thanks, had a good read through and interesting was the post "The TA will not be getting Bowman, and although the plan was for Clansman to be withdrawn on April 1st (presumably hence the date originally mentioned), this is no longer so. In fact, our safety case is seen as so good that the TA want to use it to back up their continued use of Clansman for the foreseeable future too." Just last night we got the order to backload everything clansman related so this weekend will be clearing shelves and boxing up. We also took delivery of some vehicle and man pack bowman platforms in both HF and VHF, so wipes out the statement above lol
  12. What forum was that? We still have it on the shelves but it will go sometime in future once we get disposal orders, the vehicle mounted 353/321s etc are boxed but our manpacks (350/351/2 and 321s) are still being used Gary
  13. This film might have featured on the forum before and apologies if so. Reclamation, salvaging and recycling on a grand scale US style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUo5VD3DThc
  14. Going by army number, enlisted man (as pilot prob SNCO) and not officer (2425 etc) late 60s early 70s (mine was 2434 during 1974 enlistment) before I went to officer and changed my number.
  15. Would love to get a desert throwover just like yours for our display, anyone seen any for sale anywhere as cannot find same on a google trawl or withams search? Gary
  16. Rum wasn't only issued to the Navy, the army and air force were issued it as well (SRD Stoneware flagons) for use in cold weather, in army it was usually in form of 'gunfire' tea n rum first thing in morning, can only think similar for returning aircrews after a night bombing sortie after freezing their doodahs off at a few thousand feet for a few hours. lol
  17. I have two of these, will look at labels and see numbers etc once I get to my locker, can't wear em now as we are all MTP nowadays
  18. Just a quick note to highlight the SMVG Swap Meet this Sunday as per the poster below Gary
  19. It has exact same zip as the one I got on my smock I was issued with, will need to look at the label on mine but it is very faded, but yes I seem to remember it as smock camouflage.
  20. looks like the one I was issued with in 74, British Airborne and almost same in every way. Still up in wardrobe - but inner pockets plain green (more khaki) but shorter looking than above. Newey studs are silver popper inside and brass (overpainted in green) outside with label on bottom right inside jacket. Could it be another supplier for same contract as zip, cuffs and style same etc
  21. what about this one, Stockade Tracker, live all the time but a bit temperamental although it can be tracked, ring fenced and linked via google maps as to where it is etc and own back up battery if power cut etc. £149 although if member of MVT there was an offer of it for £99 http://www.rbs-propertymarking.co.uk/gps_tracker_50.html
  22. Subdued wings never really caught on until mid to late 80s although Marines were a bit earlier if I remember right. Nice smock, got 2 brand new here, unworn and unused and one worn/used similar condition (1 new still in bag) will probably put them onto Fleabay as DPM no longer vogue now we are onto MTP lol.
  23. ....and now a request from Madame Mimi le Fluer of Rue de la Poisson....any song by the fleeing Boche....oh please bring back my Willie to me, to me.....
  24. thanks will look at these but the problem also include the socket on the battery that fits the plug in the detector etc
