  1. He has been very busy I know mate, I will ask around this end for you. Can't wait to see the beast once you get it home
  2. Can't Dave H do it any earlier Andy ? Helen says hello Dave
  3. Sounds quite normal to me Jim I have had to rent a large grain shed for my increasing collection, when I first moved into my current home I had never had so much room, loads of sheds and land. It soon got filled so I put up three sheds and a garage with a loft, they were soon filled and now I have run out of space in the grain store :undecided:
  4. During my time in HM Forces (Royal Artillery) I drove hundreds of vehicles from tracked to Lightweights, all showed signs of use but none were unroadworthy. First parade servicing involved a visual inspection of tyres, lights washers, wipers etc. All vehicles had dents, scrapes, numerous layers of paint and subtle mods to make life easier for the person actually using them. However we the drivers, like ALL road users were responsible for the vehicle being roadworthy and safe to be on the road, if you weren't happy you reported it and the vehicle was VOR until rectified. In the military scene we see increasing amounts of shiny as new vehicles which bear little resemblance to those vehicles when actually in service. It is all down to the individual, they are the owners after all but it sometimes resembles a classic car show out there. By all means keep it roadworthy and preserve the vehicle but to erase its history to the point of polished wheel nuts is not exactly portraying them as they were. I would much rather see a vehicle showing its past than a sanitised version that bears no resemblance to reality. Each to their own as they say
  5. Welcome along Steve, it's a Jeep there's always something to do
  6. I agree it could be the coil. my Ford GPW had the same symptoms and it was eventually traced to a coil breaking down when hot. However there are a lot of fuel problems arising from the ethanol in modern fuel, the motorcycle press have highlighted this for quite a while, with fuel lines failing, tanks that have had liners breaking up and taps leaking. Ethanol destroyed my WC52 fuel pump diaphragm in two weeks. Any fuel related items I replace now I specify "ethanol resistant". Awful stuff
  7. Our first full weekend at the event, absolutely brilliant already planning for next year. Well done ALL involved.
  8. Welcome to the HMVF Richard, used to drive Mk3 Militants in BAOR, great trucks
  9. Welcome along, one thing with a Jago is the body doesn't rust
  10. Tales From The Front Line - D Day by Jonathan Bastable A cracking read and very thought provoking.
  11. You can also try reversing a bit before trying to select 2wd from 4. It has worked for me.
  12. As an ex squaddie I believe a vehicle should look "right" in other words used, over the years MV's are starting to look like classic car shows everything bulled up and like new. To anyone who has been there this is the opposite of reality, all the vehicles I ever saw looked older than their years and were patched together with anything to keep them serviceable and not VOR. When I see Jeep owners obsessing over "is my Ford ALL F marks" I think wake up, during combat do you really think they worried over the morality of fitting Willys stuff to a Ford ? If a part fitted they fitted it. No one jumped out during a battle and started polishing wheel nuts. Battle scarred does it for me and is how it would have been, look at contemporary photo's from WW2 how many straight Jeeps do you see ?
  13. Not Andy Wilson's mate Andy are you ? Anyway welcome to the HMVF
  14. If it is a genuine replica NOT a deactivated weapon, I wouldn't think paperwork is needed, replica firearms sold today do not come with certificates, at least the ones I have bought new didn't anyway. A deactivated weapon should have the relevant certificates which you should carry with you if attending shows with the weapon on display. I have several replica weapons on my Jeep NONE have certificates, I bought them new and they never had any when purchased.
  15. Flat screens are easy to have cut, our local glass company do loads, however curved individual stuff will be hard to get. Your best bet would to use the internet to either advertise the fact you need X type of screen or to find an Owners Club if one exists. However obscure an item the www. will flush one out. There will be companies that will make one offs but they will be expensive due to the set up costs involved. Good luck.
  16. I enjoy the programme, like all TV it is made to appeal to all not just us hardened "green" freaks as such it has to be scripted and simple to follow. However anything that promotes our hobby and shows it in a positive light is good surely ? Bruce and his team are characters and the world needs characters Good luck to them and if Bruce reads this, any chance of a guided tour of your collection ?
