  1. I have found out it spent its early years in Milan then moved to the UK, again with the American forces. I was told by the person who first discovered it, it was released in the late 60's early 70s. The original bumpers were wooden as there was a steel shortage after WW2 so Cadillac sent the cars out with wooden bumpers and a chit for replacements as steel became more readily available, however these were never fitted and were rumoured to have been mounted on the walls of the mess at Mildenhall ?? The ones fitted were imported from the States a few years back.
  2. Welcome, love 2CV's had four unfortunately no longer got one but never say never :-D
  3. Thanks both, yes awesome car, been going round it this morning and found evidence it was in Milan just after the war (two paper stickers). It has 44,000 on the clock and still got paint on the manifolds. Going to go through it then MOT to be safe but amazing underneath NO rust at all :-D
  4. Here is my latest project, an ex AAF Mildenhall Staff Car 1946 Cadillac Sedan. Runs and drives. Been kept taxed but not driven for years.
  5. Welcome to the HMVF, nice bikes I'm after one myself :-D
  6. There is only the outer circle visible to be honest although I haven't cleaned the rust off to look properly. If the swastika had been visible it would have been a good clue to its origin but it could be there just under a layer of grime. Thanks for the picture it gives me an idea where to look closer.
  7. I stand corrected. Globe.
  8. Thank you both for the info, since OP I have looked at it with a jewellers loop and have found the small eagle looking like on top of a globe ? Also the following B Z L C 23 there is also an H below the C 23. So quite a nice gift as you say :-D
  9. This may be a stupid question, but I have just been given this ammo box but I know nothing about it apart from the chaps father got it towards the end of WW2 and they have had it ever since. He thought it may be American but other than that knows nothing about it. I have not yet cleaned it, there appears to be something stamped near the handle but I cannot decipher what it says. Does anyone here recognise it please ?
  10. You do indeed :-D Sorry mate no luck regards transport although have you thought of Phil Woods ? He always seems to be able to shift stuff.
  11. A friend did just that, they turned out brilliantly most people don't notice they are homemade
  12. Thanks Tony, it certainly works, I can vouch for that
  13. I just wondered if anyone else uses this type of product ? I, like quite a few people had concerns over the temperature my Ford GPW ran at, at the height of summer. I have also heard on several forums that if your radiator has been re-cored as mine has that the capacity is somewhat reduced. Some people stating by as much as two litres ! This cannot help in keeping the temperature down surely ? Anyway a few years back I started using Water Wetter in my Jeep and it really does work. Last back end I drained my coolant and replaced it ready for winter. This summer I noticed my Jeep running 20 degrees hotter than before. I flushed the rad and block and tried again, same result higher than normal temperature. It never got to boiling point but it was concerning. I was sat discussing it with my wife when she said " Did you use that Wetter stuff " ? That was it, I had not replaced the Water Wetter on draining and changing the anti freeze. I immediately did just that and hey presto normality restored. At least 20 degrees cooler whatever the weather and a much happier driver To all those who think their vehicles temperature is a little high by all means check the obvious stuff liked blocked rad etc but if all is good try this product it really does work. By the way I don't sell the stuff I am just an impressed user of it.
  14. Welcome along, sounds like a rare and interesting vehicle, any pictures ?
