  1. 1968 Series IIA 109 I wish I'd never sold, my 101 and a 1984 factory registered 110 military demonstrator I sold a couple of years ago.
  2. Nice to see the WLFs lifting something heavier than a 109!
  3. Shame there aren't more about preserved along with other plant. Aren't they based on Bedford axles etc.
  4. Not long got home after one of the best weekends I've had in a while. 101 didn't miss a beat even in the deep water, look forward to seeing the piccies later. Thanks to David, Tony and crew for organising a brilliant weekend. I'll try and post up the routes we took off my GPS, we did around 50 miles over the 2 days, most of it off road. Thanks also to Clive for lending me the sleeping bag, mine was destroyed along with most of my clothes when my spare battery fell over on them on the way there, that and Sunday's hangover were the only minor problems on a great weekend!
  5. Quit with them negative waves man, it going to be a glorious weekend! Of to bed in a mo, up at 5.30 to get 8.45 ferry, hope to be on site around 5-6. Fridge full of emergency Guinness supplies and spare brekkie stuff.
  6. Consult Clive Elliots 24V articles and get hold of a decent wiring diagram. The way the instruments etc work is mostly the same 12 or 24V. Sounds like you have Generator or generator panel problems coupled with mis-matched batteries going by your posts elsewhere. Either follow the 24V articles carefully or get someone who REALLY knows their 24V stuff to look at it.
  7. david ives x1 109 landrover Chris godward x 1 Champ Sean Ryan x1 101GS and reload trailer
  8. I was in a fantasy barn somewhere in Sussex a few years back looking at a 101 for a buyer. Guy opened one of his barns and it was full of fully restored kit. Chefitain, Abbot, MK, Gainsborough Tractor (absolutely mint!), Morris Comercial plus a load of other post war British stuff. I didn't get to see his other barn but I was gobsmacked by what I did see.
  9. No, sorry I haven't. Maybe someone else can help, strange that civvy owners dumped the blinds but kept the heaters! :-D
  10. Posted on EMLRA but may as well add them here as well. Don't know how front blind would be fixed to a softtop, on a hardtop it's bolted through just above the windscreen. Some blinds are just weighted, others secured with popper. Not sure what the original fixings for the blinds were, they had mostly been replaced with large headed coach bolts. There are no blinds for the rear quarter windows as these are lined on the inside and painted over externally. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRblinds.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_1.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_2.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_3.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_4.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_5.jpg[/img] http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f264/101sean/FFRBlindpictures_6.jpg[/img]
  11. I measured and photographed all the blinds and fixings on that 109 last week and will post up shortly on the EMLRA forum
  12. The method Paul used won't work with one of those bodies. Most of my books are still stashed away after my move so can't help with piccies. There must be a matching squaddie proof tie down system to go with the body. Maybe Clive can help with an EMER or two.
  13. Yes, really looking forward to this. My insurance with Irish Vintage Society covers me for public liability at shows in both Ireland and UK.
  14. Waaaaaay too much information! :eek2:
  15. When in the UK I tended to wear DPM at shows unless it was in a military establishment where I wore civvy stuff. The only exception was Army 2002 when we were in the living history. Found myself explaining Rapier to an high ranking officer and a foreign visitor despite a real Rapier unit being just down the way! :dunno: The only guys in the MMVG who rarely wear military kit are ex RN and did their time in the 60-80's (when we still had a decent amount of war canoes! Think they had enough of uniforms then! The first couple of shows here in Ireland I wore plain green gear not knowing what would be acceptable until I was specifically asked to wear British DPM which I've been doing ever since. Many MV enthusiasts here have served in the Irish Army or reserves and assume I must have been in and are surprised when I always put them straight.
  16. They even resorted to hammer and chisel in places, god knows what sort of paint it was, especially on the hard top. There was white in there as well.
  17. There is an almost identical thread ongoing on the EMLRA forum where I have posted more pics of what used to be Tony's motor. It's getting a bare metal respray at the moment and I've been asked for detailed pics which I hope to take when back in UK in early Jan. The vehicle's current owner doesn't frequent the various forums. The blinds provide both blackout and stop unwanted reflections.
  18. There are several of those out there, I've seen at least 3 in the flesh or on various web sites. Definitely a bit different and look good if well done (there is one in BRG)
  19. Ireland has a fairly good military vehicle scene with two groups in the Republic (I won't go in to the politics of why). The IMVG has around 40 vehicles including a fair bit of armour ( 2 chieftains, ferrets, fox, Panhards). There are good few other owners out there not aligned with any group. At a guess I'd reckon on 100 or so south of the border. Not a lot of Irish Army stuff as it's all supposedly destroyed, a few ACMATS seemed to have escaped. The IMVGs Panhard 90 came from Spain as they couldn't get a local one! The wearing of current uniforms is also not allowed. I was surprised when I did my first local vintage show to find that a guy in the next village had a DAF YA and we've been convoying to shows together all summer. The re-enactment scene here is also strong from Napolionic to modern with for example The Connaught Rangers doing WW1 and 1800s
  20. You can download the map symbols from Tom Mouat's site (he's our Hon El Presidente, webmaster and all round Loggie Tech genius) http://www.mapsymbs.com/
  21. The first picture is an Oshkosh (forerunner of the current HETs) towing a Nimrod fuselage (out of Withams?) As to the others, no idea without seeing front view
  22. I was just regarded as very sad (having other interests of an anoraky nature besides MVs didn't help :dunno:) Different story around show time though when they wanted to get in free and let the kids over the vehicles!
  23. I took part in my 101 in something today that would have been unthinkable 10 years ago, a Remembrance parade in Newmarket on Fergus in Co Clare, Ireland. It was organised by the the Wild Geese, a group of veterens of both Britsh Army and Irish Defence Forces and remembered Irish soldiers who died in any conflict. A poppy wreath was laid and the names of 15 local men who died in the Somme was read out followed by the names of those who died in the war of Independance. The standard bearers were flanked by WW1 re-enactors and the names read by a WW1 officer and a Volunteer officer. Whole thing was very moving and was filmed by RTE. There were re-enactors of all periods representing 'Irish' British Army regiments as well as local units, Americans etc. A number of poppies were to be seen in lapels.
  24. It's ABRO that are doing the the Project Tithonus rebuilds AFAIK, Hobsons had a more comprehensive rebuild at DVD this year. Wouldn't be suprised if they are supplying ABRO with bits anyway. Read an article in one of the LR comics about Hobsons when they first set up years ago. Was done with sanction of LR and and at that time as well they were breaking all of LRs pre-production and test vehicles.
