  2. Can anyone tell me what this bracket is for please, there is one each side just above the locker. I wondered if a stiffener might go up to the headboard when no sides are fitted, but this is just a guess

  4. Just a reminder of this event. Vehicles of any size welcome not as in MVT greensheet. Any body can come along with or without vehicle. Just north of Milton Keynes on A508 near A5 roundabout look for MVT signs or call me on 07976556791. Gordon

  6. Looks like a Coles crane as fitted to Thornycroft Amazon ect
  7. Looks well made except you could burn yourself on the exhaust pipe when you get out the cab. Did Mack make RHD or would this be a British thing?
  8. It is possable but a lot of work. You have to remove the gearbox, clutch, rear engine mounts, clutch housing, loosen exhaust at manifold, remove top hose then lower rear of engine. you can then do it. Or remove engine . When the core plugs are removed use a peice of stiff wire and loosen of all the sediment from around the rear cylinder liner then flush out with a hose pipe. All in all best to remove engine and do the job properly
  9. If it needs shrinking alternatly place in hot and cold water for a few mins each then put it on your head and mould to shape needed then wear it untill dry, it should then stay in shape. The ribbon at the back is not worn in a bow as the french do but tied in a knot and the ends pushed bach up the hem out of sight.

  12. Reg spent many evenings at the south east midlands MVT meetings, telling his war memories. He was made a honoury member. He was recorded telling his stories by one of our members. He will be missed but remembered.
  13. seen many at steam rallies but used for agriculture mainly on smallholdings. Never heard of military use but could be wrong.
  14. it is not good removing rubber from the bead. when I fit these I use an angle grinder to polish the rim as much as I can then i use a press to push one bead about half way on the inside rim then fit tube and flap inside tyre. Smother everything in soap I use the original swarfega as a lubricant, then fit the other half of the rim and bolt up making sure the flap is not pinched. inflate and it will all slip together. If you have access to a deep lathe you can remove about a sixteenth off the rim and the tyre will drop on nicely. this is the best long term solution.
  15. Easy to fit alternator if you can find a pulley to fit this size belt. I have spare dynamo and solid state regulator if you cannot find the right aternator/pulley
  16. I would advise all goddess owners that will not be pumping for long periods to bypass the sump cooler. This is very simple just locate the 2 hoses that run from intercooler to sump, fit 1 hose between the two intercooler unions and the other between the two sump unions. I have seen a goddess engine fill with water untill it hydraulics, not good.
  17. Looks short wheel base to me so perhaps Bedford OX water tanker
  18. If you can get them to ampthill near bedford then i can get them stripped off the rims for a small charge, we use a machine that will strip off any wheel including earthmovers. split rims are no problem if you know what you ae doing, including reassembly. just pm me.
  19. Have you tried hitchcock motorcycles . Best for royal enfield spares including ww2
  20. you can access the clutch from underneath, just remove the panel held on by about 4 small bolts. then you can release the clutch by undoing the bolts holding the cover to flywheel and levering the friction plate away from flywheel, or it may release by starting the engine and running untill warm, then turn off put into gear and start in gear. make sure nothing is in front. or jack up rear wheel and start in gear. Contact me if you want my phone no and I can give you plenty of advise on bedfords .
  21. convert to electronic ignition, condensers very unreliable cannot buy newly made ones, even 'new' are old stock and they deteriate in storage.
  22. A small railway locomotive ? it looks to have a large air compressor on the right hand side.
  23. you could also bolt the wheel backwards on to the hub so the split ring faces in , if anything goes wrong the bits will not go far. also make sure you clean all rust ect. off all parts.
