  3. Ihave been topping up my saladin with gas from an Argon bottle used with a mig welder. Check it twice a year and put 500 psi into the accumulatlors as required. I found a recharge set on a dealers stall once, all it is is a regulator, hoses and a special connector for the accumulators. You can get the connector from this company if needed.: The connector no 2755 at the end of the list is the type used. http://www.tyre-equipment.co.uk/acatalog/Tyre_Valve_Connectors___Chucks.html#aS1801 Any suitable regulator will do, as long as you put slightly more in ie. 550 - 600 psi in, then adjust by letting gas out on the schrader valve.
  4. You are definately using the correct oil type. the designation OMD means "oil mineral detergent". the oil filter on the CVRW is a full flow filter. I have been using Morrisons multivis in my Foden and it seems to be a very good oil.
  5. How far down does the gear change pedal go before hitting the spring when you select each gear? This can give you an idea of how the adjustment is. I find the adjusters often dont work, especially if the vehicle is not used much. Neutral should be a lot lower before you hit the spring, typically half way down.
  6. Attached is a copy of the pump details. maybe the pressure relief or flow control spool valve is stuck in the pump. foden pump.pdf
  7. I can do a lot of shunting and the air does not trip the stop light. however the guage will be just above the 5 bar red sector. Gauge 1 never goes above above 2.5 bar, although the stop light goes out. I will look at the pressure transducers, maybe one of those is faulty. The steering is very good on mine. On tickover I can turn the steering easiliy from lock to lock.
  8. Hi, I have recently purchased a leyland drops, and am starting to prepare it for registration and MOT. I see some of you have experience of these in service so would like to know how efficient the air susytem is. My old foden LMLC has a 2 cylinder compressor and seems somewhat slow to moderate in its speed in building up air from empty. The Drops has a single cylinder compressor and seems to take ages to build up to anything over 5 bar. I dont have any obvious leaks now so am suspicious that the compressor valves may need a bit of tlc. Before I strip the cylinder head can you advise on your opinions on its air performance. I know its very subjective about how quick they are to build up air but would like some other opinions. Do they hold there air very long? many thanks
  9. Hello Michael, looks good. how was the journey? Any issues with the truck or border authorities this time? Any progress on the Robur starter?
  10. Thanks Tony, I guess Matchbox etc was the catalyst for many of us to get involved in this hobby!
  11. The correct oil for the power steering is OM33, I use normal ISO 32 hydraulic oil in mine. I have most of the manuals for this vehicle so let me know if you need any more info.
  12. Hello, I have been lurking on here for a while now so thought it time to say hello. My name is Branko Dragovic, (Bran will do). I have owned an Alvis Saladin for around 25 years now, restoring it from an engineless wreck back in the 1980's. To move it around I have owned since 1995 a Foden 8x4 LMLC, beavertailed and fitted with a hydraulic winch. I also have a 2 axle stores trailer converted to accomodation so me and the missus have some luxury at steam shows etc. I have also recently purchased a Leyland Drops, so will no doubt be needing some advise soon!
