  1. Doh! Thanks Ron, that's probably why I couldn't find anything! I think my handle bars are from the late contracts ie 7/8ths but need to check. Does he do the smaller size?
  2. Hello everyone, I'm sure I've seen something on the cord throttle grips but can't find it....doh! Where can I get them from for my 3HW? many thanks andy
  3. Thanks for the help everyone. Looks like mine dates back to the early fifties from the serial number but what do the markings mean on the photo attached
  4. Hello everyone, Is there any well to tell the rough age of a Webley .38? By the serial number for example. many thanks Andy

    Very nice bikes Ron
  7. Welcome to the club! Like you I've recently bought a 3HW and found this site extremely useful to help put it back in Military shape. Although I have to say mine had a bit of a head start when compared to yours. all the best Andy
  8. Hello Everyone, what sort of price would you expect to pay for a 3HW gearbox? I,m looking for a spare that Could be done up and put into my bike whilst I sort out the "original" gearbox that's in it? Have seen a few on eBay but never quite sure if they are any good and some look like basket cases! any help much appreciated Andy
  9. Hello Everyone, being a bit new to the business of re-enactment, I was wondering if anyone can recommend the best place to order repro British battle dress tunic and trousers from. Somebody told me that the best place is the USA but can anyone confirm or suggest elsewhere? I would like decent kit but don't want to spend a fortune if I don't have to. any suggestions would be welcome Andy
  10. Hello Everyone, can an anyone recommend a good forum for REME? This is what my dad was in for his national service during the fifties and he is trying to track down some ex mates. We tried the REME association but they didn't even bother to respond :-( Andy
  11. Cheers Tony, I will try that. Andy
  12. Hi folks, just picked up a couple of old army campbeds, the type with four sprung legs. Unfortunately one is heavily stained with something that smells suspiciously like diesel! Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning them? Ie can you stick em in a washing machine or is it best just to soak em in a tub? cheers andy
  13. Hello everyone, thanks for all the advice! Some brill photos as well, keep em coming please andy
  14. Thanks for number 2 Rodbargee! To everyone else its still here as a source of info if needed, just ask away. I'm sure that's what was intended by Rodbargee anyway.
  15. Hi folks, can anyone say if WWII despatch riders would have been armed? If so what with, apart from a dangerous motorcycle:-D Andy
  16. Hi, yes I second that! I would love to see more photos of the 3HW in action andy
  17. Fascinating stuff! Id love to see the photo that No Signals mentioned. I know my uncle rode bikes in WWII but I don't think he was a proper "DR" his diaries mentioned convoy duties and he also acted as a mechanic on all sorts of vehicles. I still have his battle dress jacket which has combined ops patches amongst other things and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to have the combined ops badge on the tank of the 3HW andy
  18. One thing I forgot to say was that when I took the main union out of the tank, the filter had obviously been broken off at some point. Hopefully it's not still in the tank :-( Andy
  19. Thanks for the help guys, it looks like Stefano is right in that the pipes on the bottom of the tank have been modified to accept unions. Can't really tell if they are recent mods or if they were done many years ago. If you zoom in on the attached photo you will see what I mean. many thanks Andy
  20. Help! I'm trying to work out what the union sizes are on the 3HW oil tank? I need to know what it should be for the breather on the top of the tank and also the sizes of the pipe unions that join the pipes to the bottom of the tank. I suspect that at some point mine has had different unions fitted because the new filter union outlet union does fit the existing pipe union. Andy
  21. Thanks Ron, will give them a try! Ordered up a set of cable from JJ cables last week. I mentioned that you had put me onto them and they charged me double:-D not really! It was quite funny though coz they mentioned that had done some stuff for you recently. Really helpful people, so thanks for the tip! Andy
  22. Hi Ron, do you know where I can get a set of the rubber hoses that go between the oil tank and the timing cover? cheers andy
