  1. You may find a complete RAF charging set, here is one on a Trolley accumulater. The angle iron frame at the base of the set has a handle at each end and can be seen in this photo.
  2. Just found some info on the Charger, Battery, it is given as being part no. AN.386.MA There is also a note showing that the charger is an Air Ministry item No. 42U/500 modified by increasing the petrol tank capacity from 2 to 3 pints and reversing the instrument panel.
  3. A friend in Australia had a Bristol Bofors once and we came to the conclusion that the charging set was very similar or identical to the one used by the RAF on the Trolley Acc. The engine was a JAP 2A. Somewhere I have a manual on a CD for this piece of artillery.
  4. Hi Howard, Welcome to the forum. I recall a friend from Cranleigh mentioning your name in conversation a few times, all good! regards, Richard
  5. Looks like a Moto Guzzi, so Italian.
  6. Bicycle tyres as measured by the overall diameter of the tyre (not the wheel), so I suggest you need 26 inch tyres......
  7. The photo is of a Armadillo Mk2 on an OY. It had a 37mm anti aircraft gun mounted on it firing HE shells, Picture here is from Military Trucks Archive - Bedford book
  8. A GMC 6x6 according to the second number on your post, this info is from the Chilwell list of census numbers
  9. Just found a box with two NOS switches in it. British WD item and VAOS code of V6 which is Fire Control. Part number is OS.395A, Switch on/off R.A. Anyone in to artillery and interested in them?
  10. A blast from the past here, I was involved in the preparation of these 5 Lightweights, the arrived at the REME Workshops as really scruffy vehicles from a Royal Green Jackets unit as I recall. A lot of work went in to bringing them up to Ceremonial standard.
  11. These markings on the tyre show that the trailer was in long term storage and the wheels were turned 90 degs and specific intervals
  12. Just remembered that the diff on a QL front axle is on the driver's side, (ie. right), so appears if it is a QL front, then it has been turned over.
  13. John, Those axles sound like QL one, probably a QL transfer box as well!.
  14. Bill, as you have noted, this is an Air Ministry item and the prefix of 5C on the stock number indicates that it is an "aircraft electrical component".
  15. Never had that problem with army recondioned engines for Land Rovers and they were test run before packing and might not have been fitted in a vehicle for a few years.
  16. Hi Mike, Unlikely, the QL axles are a different design to those on the RL and the RL ones are of a heavier design. You also need to consider the transfer box you wish to use and its output flanges direction of rotation, for example if a RL transfer box is used with QL axles, then the axles will rotate in two opposing directions!
  17. It looks to be a 15Kva Lister powered generator, on its correct trailer, WW2 era and I have worked on a few in the 1970's, still in service with the army.
  18. I have a parts list for a Morris Commercial C8/FWD Mark III gun tractor and this rear shackle pin number is listed
  19. Hi Ron, I'm would probably class myself as a Ludite too Ron ! Someone on the forum said how to do it, I use Firefox and someone said that there was an icon at the top right hand of the screen, I found it, clicked on to it and bingo, all the trash adverts were gone. Try searching for Adblocker on Google search engine.
  20. Hi Ron, Try Adblocker, it worked for me, back to normal now. regards Richard
  21. Hi Tim, Good to see you on here! regards, Richard
  22. Hi Kevin, Many years ago, during Gulf War 1, I recall seeing a photo of a Centurion ARV with the name Lucozade. The slogan in the adverts was 'Lucozade aids recovery' or something similar.
  23. Just looked at my iPhone and HMVF is still full of unwanted adverts and nearly impossible to scroll without opening one. No problem with PC now I use Adblocker. Not sure of a solution with phone.
  24. Paul, Check this link out, it was formerly known as TFSU (G) according to Merlin list you showed. https://www.facebook.com/SEFGermany/
  25. Hi Philip, Correction ....It was the Rolls Royce factory manual for B Range engines that I got the information from regarding the CAV starter motor.
