  2. http://www.national-army-museum.ac.uk/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Army http://www.raf.mod.uk/falklands/linepre1982.htmlhttp://www.army.mod.uk/para/history/the_falklands_islands.htm Bill the above should help on pictures on kit.
  3. It's the pills Dave, there still in the post :shake: Deep Bronze Green, good old LR1 does look good. There were some very nice Parade Light weights used by the Honourable Artillery Company to tow Parade 25 pounder's. That would be a hell of a combination at a show. Keep you up all hours with the Auto glym and Brasso.
  4. Look for the 85 pattern smocks with knitted sleve cuffs. 58 pattern green canvas webbing. Correct small arms are L1A1 rile, Browning 9mm HP pistol sterling Mk 4 sub machine gun, L4A1 Support weapon and FN GPMG machine gun. (Showing off ;-) SLR, Sterling and 9mm pistol. You can also mock up a de-ac No 4 as a sniper rifle. Radio gear is Clansman. L4A1is the straight mag Bren 7.62 Gloves are the black leather Northern Island Type, with or without padded knucles. have a look at Northern island and Falkland pictures. Barbour Coats were also used private purchase. http://www.defenceimagedatabase.mod.uk/fotoweb/Grid.fwx
  5. At least Bronze Green looks more 'acceptable' in the Tesco car park. your an evil baby killing 4x4 fiend, not a militeristic 4x4 baby killing fiend. Sod it I'm off to smoke my pipe in public! :-o
  6. Perhaps it shows who the discerning members of the forum are?
  7. Ahh Calvados, try marinating a pork joint in it. Certain RAMC ambulances were officially named after VC holders from the Corp. There is also the classic 'SNAFU' Land Rover from the first gulf. As far as I know all naming of vehicles was unofficial although some of the Tank regiment had names on theirs. Owner of Dodge 51 Ruby Baby (named after my Mother) and 101 Ambulance Elusive Lady (And I know who she is) :-D
  8. One easy way is to copy markings from a book via scan, and take to local vinyl print shop.
  9. First choice brushes, second choice muck. Both curable at same time.
  10. Could well be. Did the engine swing freely on the starter handle? Worth taking it out and cleaning The Bendex gear. May not do it again for a long time.
  11. AH-HA point taken!! Its a shame Boy Scouts stopped doing Bob a Job week.
  12. Sounds like a very bad case of the Dodge Cough. what Carburetor have you and what timing have you got her on. Also post the problem on http://forum.ww2dodge.com/ Might well be the accelerator pump.
  13. Joris, I could write you a book on it. For me it started with a phone call from Steve Mcguire. 'Can you get time off in about three weeks to support a remembrance march to commemerate the First Day of the Battle of the Somme? A group organised by Andrew Robertshaw, now director of the RLC museum, were marching along the front line. They wanted period vehicles for support. First World War vehicles are rare and not necessarily reliable. So after discussions Dodges got the job. Well you got to try. I went to my Boss, promised I would be good for the rest of the year, and bring him back a bottle of Brandy, that plus the fact I threatened to burst into tears if he said no, persuaded him. So mass panic and the Dodge was packed ready to go. We spent a week out there my Dodge covered about 800 miles on and off road. I am keen photographer as well, so a lot of pictures. I did do an article published in the US Power Wagon Forum. I know you would like articles, I'm willing to do one, but as you know it takes a while to do a proper piece. How do a I submint a piece?
  14. We Islanders get everywhere. People ask 'Why did you leave?' Well it's 11 miles long and 5 miles wide. Try to get to Richard's show, if nothing else thanks to sensible rules, the shooting will be fun.
  15. A privatley owned HGV still has, up to now, normal road tax PLG. Ask Paul with the TM (MMVG), he should fill you in. Land Rover and Bedford did a Light weight Artic unit. Anyone know waht the sit rep is American type Swan neck hitches. they can take a hell of a weight.
  16. Well I had dealings with Force 10 from Navarone, Neither the sea nor the sky, Brideshead re-vistited, Lady Jane and some of the late Monty Pythons. Never the star but some good ;laughs. Best quote from a mate of mine, bearing in mind we were on a film set 'You know when the director said 'Follow the Queen' I got totally confused' Mostly second unit stuff but that's where the fun is. If you do get an offer go for it, but if it includes a vehicle or a horse read the small print and don't be afraid to tell the Director to piss off, if they get to ambitious.
  17. Buy a :dunno:J??????? can't bring myself to say the word. Buy her a Dodge, ideal for the kids, you put a cage in the back. Wonderful for the weekly shop, if no space you park it top of a Nissan Micra, and if you do upset her you can sleep in the back.
  18. I'm not sure what the situation is now. With the build up of road levels etc, I think it just became untenable. I remember it when I was a kid.The display is now at St Ouen. Did you know the Mirus guns, biggest in the channel islands were 30.5 ex Russian Battleship St Petersburg. When they were cut up BOC had to come up with a special gas mix because the steel was so hard.
  19. Hi Nigel, Yes Katy was the one!! She is the only one in jersey. Before the East Park Pavillion , who changed its name? Was vandilised. that was some time ago. Carol Le Marquand, who owns Katy, ia nurse and very proud of the display. It's taken a lomg time to get the stuff together. If you know of anything that would go with it I'm always interested. :-) :-)
  20. I like it... I like it.. re-paint and profit   Did have a barn demolishing party once. £100 worth of beer, bring your own sledge hammer, worked but got leathal.
