The new Slovakian "Defender 90" made its debut this w/e at the Goodwood revival, its actually over 100" wb,...Looking at it alas its just another SUV posemobile, its more of a "Pretender", ..Its Not a Defender replacment vehicle for work use, Price wise it starts at about £40k almost Twice the Price of a 4x4 Ford Ranger/Mitsubiski pick up ! ...the body style is much like a swb Toyota RAV 4, or an overgrown new Mini Clubman, the 90 has 3 doors it can squeeze in 6 persons, be a bit cosy together for 6 adults..and that then leaves only enough room at the back for the Harrods picnic hamper too, No luggage space with back seats in use,..Lots of posh trim and plastic interior, for more room there is the 110, 5 door version, all round independent suspension, the Defender range is ONLY Available as an Automatic Transmission, there Is No Manual gearbox option ! and it is full of electronics, ..35 ECU's to go wrong, even the foldaway towbar is electrically operated, ...and you Cannot take the roof off this Alluminium monocoque bodyshell either or drill holes in it to fit a NATO hitch

No, vehicles with a Military registration number Post War did not have road tax discs

If the bike was sold in 1947 and then Civilian registered it would have been issued with a road tax disc,

your fire extinguisher is similar size to type fitted to Jeep, but the style of the Ford printed on label I'm guessing it to be Post war 1950's for a Ford car/truck?, ...see link below to G503 Jeep Extinguishers, early Slat grill MB's extinguishers were originally mounted on the right side footwell, but after the glovebox was introduced in '42 the extinguisher mount was moved across to the drivers left side footwell beside the clutch pedal, ...new repro mounting brackets are available, ...a google search shows more info/pics http://jeepdraw.com/G503_Fire_Extinguishers.html

I recently did an online DVLA check on various large, over 3.5t post 1960's MV's seen at shows, they had all recently been taxed with no recorded MOT, quite a few vehicles the V5 information showed no recorded revenue weight,... a search of 5 post 1960 Militants checked had recorded weight at 21000kg but had all been taxed recently by DVLA with No recorded MOT !

Amazing find, the Control Tower from Tarrant Rushton WW2 D Day airfield found recently in a Dorset scrapyard, it will be on display at the Great Dorset steam fair, August Bank holiday : UPDATE... Another very dubious bitza Jeep with toyota engine/gear box and strange chassis number that the MVT have verified as 1942, ...the front axle looks like it may be the only apparent ww2 part

MB/GPW Jeeps are one size fits all, as you say apart from cutting a notch into the wheelbox to move the seat back there is no other way to improve driving position, I have owned Jeeps that the driving position was different it was because the backrest of the seat was bent back a bit that gave bit more room, perhaps try some spacer washers under the two front mounts that would tilt the seat back a bit, thin backrest padding too. The later CJ Jeeps had a notch pressed into the dashboard to raise the angle of the steering column
