  1. For sale, open to offers, collect near Aldershot. Pyrene Fire Extinguisher. T handle marked WD 349. 15" long, 3.25" diameter approx. origin unknown. Bonnet catch? 6" long overall, 1" spring dia. Queens Silver Jubilee framed homemade tapestry, 18" x 18" approx.
  2. From scratchy memory, np208 transfer case, Dana 44 front axle, freewheeling hubs, with other beef-up mods as well - I believe similar to the Bronco of the time. Had the original blue dropside demonstrator here for a while, really looked the part.
  3. It's a definite possibility, although I think the drawbar fitted at closer to axle level. Must look for photos.
  4. Serendipity in Fleet, Hampshire. Parachute, 1953? Various gas masks Shell cases Mess tins Ship models, these are just 2 of a box of possibly 20 or so. Happy shopping!
  5. I've no idea - I'm only an amateur at this so my excuse is that I only took the photos! I see what you mean, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to be wrong. Apparently post war it was ex Belgian then French military, I think he said cast 1990 if I understood the time line. I kept looking at the Jeep thinking something didn't look right but couldn't pin it down until I compared it with Simon's previous post... then it was obvious. I don't know who any of the owners/drivers were.
  6. Two jeeps with trailers going south though West Meon.
  7. Hi, In the early 1980's a farm I worked on had a trailer of a type I'd like to acquire if I can find one. Unfortunately no photos, similar to what I think is a 'British No9' but without the cross axis pivot on the front, so here goes... Pre 1980 makers plate as Taskers of Andover, 4 wheel, turntable type. 'A' frame drawbar, ring hitch, overrun brakes. 10 x 6 deck, was probably originally dropside although it only had an 18" headboard when we had it. Bar grip type tyres, possibly 750x16 but could easily have been 20", certainly on split rims. Leaf springs, If I had to guess I'd say RAF yellow in colour. Any suggestions please?
  8. Austin Champ with trailer on the A30 east of Salisbury today.
  9. No, didn't see that. I'll have to watch again.
  10. Hi, Nice piece of film about civvy Bedfords here, at about 1:06 there's an ambulance on a trailer. Any ideas?
  11. Aircraft makes a lot more sense that air conditioned!
  12. Not having a military background myself my attempts to google the history info at the bottom I would translate as (and apologies if it's really obvious and I missed it)... Ordnance depot Antwerp - would that be Emblem? I read the A/C as air conditioned but I doubt it! 21st Signals Regiment - still in Belgium maybe? ADT - active duty training unit or auction house?
  13. Thank you, I'll pass the link on.
  14. Thanks, I'll make further enquiries.
  15. Hi, on tractor forum a lwb Land Rover has been spotted living in France. Bought from army surplus (location unknown) it's thought to be a 1984 S3, 24v, ffr, civy reg B83 XST. Is there any way of finding a bit more history on it for it's owner with only it's civy reg? Thanks.
  16. These are Camac, made in Turkey. Thanks for the advice.
  17. Hi, Just pulled my caravan out of the bushes for another season, and started with the running gear. There's always been something odd about the tyres, not that there's anything wrong with them, but I'll explain... It's a french built Gruau 37 built 1994. The tyres are 175-70/14T as per the manual. The spare supplied when new is 165/13C also as per the manual! A full size spare won't fit in the spare wheel space. The running tyres look absolutely pristine with 8mm of tread no cracks or wear of any type but as I've had it 5 years I'll treat it to some new ones. So where do I find the date code? Google suggests a four digit no. week/year, but all I can find on these is a six digit no. ddmmyy perhaps? If this is the case then these are 010290. Scary. What's worse is that as it's a 1994 model that suggests the tyres were 4 years old before they were fitted. If I was buying new I don't think I'd even consider checking something like that. So moving on, do I fit 175-70/14T as per the manual, or do I deviate from the manual and fit C rated tyres as apparently required by law and risk a ticket for not using the correct OEM specification? I would ask on a dedicated caravan forum but all they seem to do is argue amongst each other as to who's more qualified to give answers and if your 'van is more than 2 years old they're not interested anyway! Any thoughts appreciated.
