Quality job as always Ron.. I see you use the same rear stand "security " as me when a bike is up on the bench !!

  6. Hi ..really great to see your rapid progress..it took me over a year to do this job to mine !!......Really appreciate the Facebook posts as a quick catch up ...but to my mind this forum is by far the better for a project like this with better pictures..more importantly easier to use /see/review past posts , than Facebook . Keep up the good work.

Hi Ron.... Interestingly, my Uncle Keith's BSA C15,which I acquired and sorted out for him, had exactly the same "two digits transposed" problem with frame /logbook numbers. It also was a NI bike so maybe they had some dyslexic staff? Fortunately DVLA accepted a letter ,pictures and a frame number rubbing but this was about 15 years ago and its obvious they have tightened up since then. Keep up the good work! Andy

  10. Hi Wally...thanks for the reply ...yes I was just wondering if anything Velocette showed up in any sales catalogues or key cards as they wher never a quantity supplier....... Then as a follow on.... if by some remote chance any Velocette made it into the 1950s still in service. Most Velocette MDD that I know of ,including my other restored one ,came out around 1944/5.. so I was curious as to why the one pictured was so late being registered .
  11. Slightly off topic as motorcycles related but bear with me ....I have noticed on this and other social media forums many interested parties have collected /collated Post War Key Cards and Vehicle Disposal Sale catalogues relating to many different types of ex military vehicles .This information has provided many vehicle owners with extra information relating to their vehicle/motorcyle and I also benefited with identification of the the correct C number for a BSA M20 (Thanks Lex !)..... I was wondering if anyone had any information relating to Velocette motorcycles as I do not recall seeing it mentioned before. I have a Velocette MDD that was civilian registered by Cheshire Council on 14 April 1958 as part of a batch of 3 vehicles registered by a local garage. I assume it was around this time it was demobed, purchased from ex military auction by the garage and registered for road use. So... where there any disposal sales near Chester and would anyone have any cataloges showing Velocette sales I wonder ? Also does anyone have Key Cards with Velocettes noted on them ?

  18. Hi ..just a thought. How about contacting Hindle transport company? ( I think their boss is into military vehicles). Also I seem to remember John Rippingham ( aka Rippo) a Bedford MWD enthusiast had some of this stuff from location. He is ona Facebook Bedford 15cwt enthusiasts group.Hope this helps.

  20. Congratulations on your new acquisition....I had one and reluctantly sold it because of a house move....any pictures please? My thoughts on electronic ignition are that it can improve things ...but...so would correctly refurbishing the original correct specification equipment ....your vehicle though so your choice.Good luck with it and enjoy!!
