  1. My pleasure, Jack. Friday has made me think about Saturday's events and any advice would be gratefully recieved. I've looked at the booking form, but am I right in thinking it's for the whole weekend? My '44 BSA M20 is booked-in for the Weymouth Veterans Parade on Sunday, but I was hoping to pop down to Maiden Newton @ War on the Saturday, which I believe is a meeting place for the run to Dorchester. I only live in Shaftesbury, so I'd ride down, take part in anything that needs taking part in and then kip in my own bed. If you've got room for another DR bike, please let me know, especially if I need to use the booking form that's currently online for the Saturday.
  2. Providing my winter resto goes to plan, I can offer a 1944 BSA WM20 with me dressed accordingly (well, 49 pattern under a DR leather jerkin) if that helps?
  3. Sounds like quite a few "bigger" vehicles to look after - would you like another despatch bike to help with the shepherding? It's a '44 BSA WM20 in correct colour & spec.
  4. Ps. Ray - did you add the field stand? If so, could you point me in the right direction to find one as the rear stand isn't great on grass and I don't want to start an impromptu game of dominoes
  5. Hi Ford & Ray Completely agree with the M20 being nice to ride. I spoke to Ian Wright before I bought it and he said that they're not fast, they don't stop too well and the handling is interesting but it would grow on me and guess what, it most certainly has. 55mph has never seemed so fast....... I'd spotted the A&E next June and was wondering whether 1. I need to book in/register to be a part of it, 2. Uniform? and 3. Is a trip from Maiden Newton at War planned to take in A&E before returning for the rest of Maiden Newton?
  6. Evening all, At the age of 41, and after many years of bike ownership, I've now got my hands on a military-machine in the shape of a 1944 BSA WM20 Despatch Riders bike. I've had this little beauty for a couple of months and after spending the summer getting used to the brake/gearchange being on the "other side" I'm planning a winter resto to bring it back to '44 spec along with it's original C number of C5551417. All being well, and with the help of the Army records team, I'm hoping to mark it with my late Father's div markings as he rode & instructed on one during 39-45. If anyone can recommend an outing/event for the WM20 I'm all ears. Oh, and based in Dorset.
