  1. The Original cars had wire spoke wheels, they were changed to solid disc wheels as time went by then very late on to split rims and some had a fitted door in the drivers side. They were used in the desert at the beginning of the second world war but proved to be very out dated. some great pictures and stories to be found here http://www.rrec.org.uk/Cars/Rolls-Royce_Armoured_Cars/Armoured_Cars_in_Action.php
  2. i may have just the barn very close to Fareham, should be available soon. PM me if intrested. Baz
  3. A middle east enthusiast has a very nice replica, and will soon have three more!......................
  4. oi, check out the pictures from the winter rally, a nice brace of 1.5T chevs mmmmm and a Brockway and a Autocar and a Willys MA! and lots of booze!

  5. Well a few of us braved the weather and headed over the Belgium for the winter rally, for me it was a first but certainly not the last time, it was brilliant. Friday - arrive at the huge hotel of Ol Fosse De Outh in Houffelize just north east of Bastogne, a few beers then a large buffet that even filled me up! then a few more beers and and a night cap, very frindly atmosphere and very efficient organisation. Rooms were perfect and very reasonable. Sat - up for breakfast then fire the jeep up for a 65km drive in a rather large convoy of MV's. unfortunately the weather closed in and we could only see about 100 metrers in front but still a very enjoyable drive following the Autocar through the narrow hill side tracks. stopped an Clervuex for lunch and a nose in the museum then on with a further 45 km drive back though the forests and hills to the hotel. The evening bought a sit down meal for all and a disco.................oh and some beer! Sunday - up just after going to bed! breakfast and out on a 30km drive in convoy, then sunday lunch for all before heading back to blitey. i would recomend this weekend highly as it was well organised and very well priced with all you hotel and food included in the fee, a huge selection of vehicles to see and see being put through there paces in the Ardennes forests, Great stuff!
  6. Very Nice bikes you have there mate, any pictures? I am definately up for going but will have to see what work is on nearr the time. Cheers Baz
  7. im hoping to go but it depepnds on what i am working on nearer the time. Hopefully i can get away for a few days, if so i will take you up on the offer, what Indian do you have? how long do you reckon it will take? Baz
  8. Lovely pair of bikes, thanks for sharing with us.
  9. The head is stamped on the flat face for the rocker cover and the block is stamped along the back of cylinder block above the bell housing. Cheers
  10. Its on the 6-8th Feb and by all accounts is a very worth while trip, a few of us are heading over from the hampshire area on the 6th, any body else going? Baz
  11. The engine in my Bedford OXC has a Vauxhall motors rebuild plate from 1952 and my engine number is for an OY! It also has stamped into the head and block 24-7-1947, which i am assuming was the first time it was rebuild???
  12. grit Blast and red oxide is just the job for a jeep chassis. Thanks to the open design Jeep chassis do not suffer with rust issues Land Rovers do, so dont need quite as extreme rust prevention. I can recomend a very good grit blasting service if your in hampshire?
  13. should be by then! complete with trailer to carry the Bren :-) i also mentioned this little do to a friend who has some intresting armour and he seemed pretty keen on bringing something along..............
  14. Jack put me down on the list, Bren gun carrier (will have to finish it first!) and a couple of Indian 741's as outriders, and a jeep for good measure!
  15. IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its fired up after a few kicks and sounds amazing with no muffler :-) maybe a video for the weekend. Baz
  16. The rubber mount bolts underneath the cross member so you cant see it from the top, it hads a metal sheild on top to protect it. I welded the exhaust using supercast arc welding rods and a pleny of heat by way of a oxy acetylene torch to pre heat and post heat the area. it welded very nicely. i was vey happy as a replacment was not a bargain price! Cheers Baz
  17. got some spraying done today, and the axles are stripped for blasting, Need a master cylinder if anyone has one lying around?
  18. Its on the list! after the Bedford! Its my father in laws, he bought it 70's from Harry Pounds for the grand sum of £300!!!! mind you it had sky high mileage of 300 mile on the clock!! Thanks for compliments on the bike everyone, its been a fun restoration so far, all i got to do now is finish it! ATTENTION G506 - get on with the Triumph, i want to see pictures! Cheers Baz
  19. Slowly but surely progress has been made, its seems to take a age to finish all the small bits! and Indians have some strange ways of performing the simplest of taks!! still, its nearly ready to burst into life :-)
  20. I'll supply the slat grill for the front row. i cant help but notice, i have never seen that many jeeps in one place and not a single one has 101st airbourne markings!!!:-) Baz
  21. The servo in question is purely vacuum actuator to pull the trailer brakes on, its not used for the main brakes on the traqctor unit and does not have a master or slave cylinder attached. Its operated by a valve on the master cylinder that allow vacuum to pass into this cylinder when the pedal is pressed, then the piston moves pulling on the rod operated trailer brakes! there is plenty of room to fit newer unit if that what it come down to, needs must and all that. Cheers Baz
  22. Tried that, unable to help unfortunately. Thanks anyway Baz
  23. Been down that route already, no luck as of yet. Thanks Baz
