  1. The Red door handles were like that when I got the Tilly. I spoke to various people and was told that sometimes the door handles on forward opening doors were painted Red as a warning not to open whilst on the move. I expect people played with the handles and the doors flew open. So have left it as was. Does make sense. Hopefully catch up at a show...will be at War and Peace if it happens or another in the Kent area. Have a Great Christmas. Rgds Simon
  2. Hi. No I do not reenact. I have had MV's for 40 or so years and do may shows. I of course know all the guys in Malta who do with their Tilly and Bedfords. My Tilly was built and sent to Malta in 1940. I brought it back in 2020. So it had the original plates etc. It served with the Royal Malta Artillery and is shown in their colours. If you are a member of the MVT you will have seen a write up about it and its history in the last issue of Windscreen.
  3. I suggest you contact the Tilly Register. Michael Shackleton at tilly.register@gmail.com. They have records and produce a great magazine. Tenner a year.....worth every penny. Photo of my Tilly, ex Malta.
  4. I am sorry but I agree with others. This new foremat is not very user friendly. What was wrong with the old friendly foremat?
  5. Thanks for that. Much appreciated. I see "Big Tyres" have some with British type pattern in stock so will investigate. Best Wishes.
  6. Has any one had experience with the Malhotra Military MTT-905T 900x16 Tyre ? Will they fit British Split Rims? Any advice will be of great help. Thanks

  10. Greetings from the Isle of Wight....
  11. The up front cost of putting on a show the size of War and Peace must eye watering. Cost of renting the site from the Hop Farm, Security, Fences, Insurances, Council and H&S permits and reports, Putting the site back to as was condition and clearing away the rubbish, Plus any other organisations with their hand out for cash. As the new owner has put his cash on the line it is right that he should get it back. As a businessman Vehicle Owners can not expect him to make a loss so we can have a show. However if Vehicle owners want to put on a show the size of War and Peace are they happy to spend their cash in large lumps before getting any back from exhibitors and the public? Putting on an Public event, Air Show, Vehicle Show etc is a risk that any businessmen have to weigh up. No one goes into a venture like this to make a loss...if they can help it. I think as vehicle owners we should applaud the new owner for taking over from Rex and taking a financial risk. How many other vehicle owners would have a go on this scale.
  12. Peters and May have just shipped a Matilda to the UK...ant ideas where it is going?
  13. I have seen them in WW2 to 50's MTB's that have been restored. Also very similar to Air Ministry units of the WW2 to mid 50's
  14. First Class restoration. Welcome to the "Military Bedford Drivers Club". Rgds Simon (MWR)
  15. Hi Nicky, Rog and I will be coming with the MWR. Ian Young , Windscreen Editor, is coming with us.
  16. My MWR has a kind of Hardboard on the inside of the doors. Having owned it for over forty years and never replaced it I assume it is original. I presume you can still buy hardboard which would look like the original.
  17. We have used Castrol Valvemaster and Frost's Ethromix together for a couple of years now with no side effects. Recently looked in the bottom of a fuel tank and no sign of any gunge or sticky stuff. Carb bowl clean etc.
  18. We have used the Frost Ethomix product in all our vehicles on our offshore Island with no problems. Seems to do the job.
  19. Thank Richard I will drop him an email Best Wishes Simon
  20. Does any one know of a supplier of new made cork gaskets OR a modern vehicle rocker gasket that will fit the Bedford 28hp engine found in QL/OY/MW vehicles ?
  21. Hi Richard. We have had problems with the Bio in modern petrol down here. For example we had to rebuild a petrol pump on an MW and found the Bio Petrol had "Eaten" some of the metal away at the point the petrol enters the glass cover. It looked like a sculpture of a set of sharks teeth. Another pump showed the same sort of damage. We were put on to the FROST ETHOMIX by the Commercial boys and Motor Bike boys who had experienced damage from the Bio Petrol. Since using we have not recorded any damage. The Ethomix also stabilises the petrol so remains fresh after the winter lay up. We did wonder if Petrol Companies vary in the amount or strength of the Bio they add. For instance we use Super Market petrol as opposed to named brands as the cost difference on the Island can be up to 5p a litre. Just a thought. Any comments from HMVF members who work in the Petrol business?
  22. We use Frost Ethomix, 01706 658619 http://www.frost.co.uk , and have had no problems with Ethanol damage etc etc. We were put on to it by the vintage commercial boys a couple of years back. All the MV's on the Island use it and quite a few of the Bike and Car boys down here also add it to their petrol.
  23. Yes but no luck. Will keep a look out at the shows.
  24. On our off shore Island we all add Castrol Valve Master and Frost's bio protection additive to all petrol. The Frost product as we have had fuel pumps and carbs showing the effect of bio in petrol attacking the metal. All run well on it and a recent "Head off" showed no problems with valves etc.
