  11. I think a like button is a brilliant idea, I often read threads but don't comment, I would click a 'like' on various posts, I think it would be a great way to offer encouragement to restorations but could also be good to let people know that their friendly banter was enjoyed. just my 5eggs worth.
  12. Hi all, I have seen a few weasels that have been converted to rubber tracks? are these manufactured especially for the weasel, or are there tracks that fit from another vehicle? I would be interested to hear prices or links to sites or suppliers
  13. bought another NT sankey Veh no - 57 AW 14 Chassis no - 11 cont. no - WV7458 any idea on age? cheers
  14. I often think that!!! and why is it that a select few survived the test of time? Are they guns that were 'brought back' by servicemen and subsequently found by a family member some years later and deactivated? Was that allowed at the time? I think my sten was deactivated in 2002 I can't remember the exact time without looking at the cert. - but what often makes me wonder, is the fact that it is a nearly 70year old gun, well and truly obsolete - but it has only been deactivated 10years.... where was it previous to that, and what was it doing? I am seeing a lot of 'new spec' deactivation's on 'antique' guns like this one - it seems bizarre to me that they weren't found and deactivated yeeeeears ago? :???
  15. fascinating stuff Chris, thank you very much! One thing I have noticed with my MK3 is that when you hold the gun up and look down the sights, there is a noticeable bend in the body off it, it seems to begin when the actual barrel of the gun would begin, or thereabouts. It curves slightly towards the mag on the left hand side. Would I be right in believing that this is when the gun has warped from getting too hot while being fired? How would this affect the action of the weapon? unfortunately it is a new spec so it doesn't do anything now, I would have thought that due to the bend in it, there is a higher probability of it jamming due to binding? Was warping/cooling an issue with these guns? to me it looks like there is little or no airflow around the barrel. How reliable where they? Even today there is a lot of carbon in the gun.
  16. I guess that after almost 70 years it would be almost impossible to discover were, or to whom it was issued? It has certainly seen some action in its life. When was it likely to have been taken out of active military service, shortly after the war?
  17. Wow, just seen this reply, a big thank you for all your help!
  18. Hi David, Yes it is, its up and running and proving to be a reliable and useful tool
  19. Hi all, Just taken my MUTT for a pre-mot and the biggest thing flagged up was the lack of seat belts in the front. Can anyone point me in the right direction for the requirements/have any advice? I am hoping to get away with a lap style instead of a 3point. All input is welcomed...
  20. Does anyone remember/have pictures of ferret MK 2/3 06-CC-27? it spent most of it's life out in cyprus.
