  1. Dear Sir Administrator ! For what reason I can not see Private Messages, sent by me, in my "Sent items" folder ? I can see all messages, addressed to me, in my "Inbox" folder (now it contains 11 PMs) - but "Sent items" folder is empty; even message counter shows "0 messages" there. Simply sometimes I should like to read my messages, which I have sent to other Members. Regards, Ed.
  2. One Russian enthusiast has made almost full "copy" of PzKpfw IVF2 tank (excluding the running gear). The materials - usual steel (not armor) and parts of different tractors and trucks. Overall weight of this mock-up is 10 metric tons. This "tank" itself, it's turret and gun are movable. Look this link: http://carnagefoto.ru/razvlechenie/yumor/9569-samodelnyy-tank-12-foto.html Wheels and tracks of this "tank" are from agricultural DT-75 tracked tractors:
  3. Dear Tony ! A "Belarus" badge on "Kirovets" - it is made by seller for joke, only for sweet little joke ! :-D:-D:-D
  4. OK, guys ! I have seen all your messages - yes, You are right: this tractor is "go-anywhere !" (well - almost anywhere). But You all make one big mistake: this big yellow tractor have the name "KIROVETS" - and NOT "Belarus" ! (When You read or say this name, You must accent on "I" letter - Kirovets). Now see here: "Belarus" is usual "not big" agricultural and universal purpose tractor: See more links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belarus_(tractor) http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=belarus+tractor&oq=belarus+tractor&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_l=youtube.3..0l10.2238l6878l0l7294l15l15l0l6l6l0l106l939l0j9l9l0. And so on. Your tractor is "Kolossal" and much heavier. It is "Kirovets" heavy tractor. First "Kirovets" tractor was produced in 1962; mass production of this tractor was established from 1969. It has several main models: - K-700 with 220 h. p. engine (produced from 1962 until 1975); - K-700A with 235 h. p. engine (produced from 1975 until 2002); - K-701 with 300 h. p. engine (produced from 1975 until 2002); - K-702; - K-703; - K-704; - K-744 (modern version, from 2002). These models had many versions for many purposes. See the links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7lAdDOhjxA - different versions from first to latest are shown; - History of manufacture of "Kirovets" tractor - video from 1977 - 150 000 of these tractors were produced to this date ! - Finnish "Kirovets". See also other videos on this page ! And - Yes, this tractor has double main mission: first mission - agricultural and industrial purposes; second mission - military purposes (as artillery tractors). But these tractors were never used on military roles. They were used as artillery tractors during pre-production trials only. Hello from Russia ! Regards, Modello.
  5. Thank You very much, dear friends, for Your good help ! Nick Johns - I have sent PM to You.
  6. Dear colleagues ! Who knows the following information: 1) Is the chassis of Guy "Quad Ant" artillery tractor the same, like Guy "Quad Ant" truck ? Or it has some reinforced elements ? 2) Had these two vehicles similar chassis main frames or not ? 3) Is the chassis (and main frame) of Guy "Quad Ant" vehicles similar to Guy "Ant" 4x2 truck chassis and frame ? Wait for the answers from You. Regards, modello.
  7. Dear colleagues ! I am look for the information about British WW2 tyres for military trucks and cars - about their types, designations, sizes/dimensions, protector patterns, etc. Maybe, any Internet links, scans from reference books, or another information ? I shall wait for Your answers with hope. Regards, modello.
  8. Good evening, friends ! Where it is possible to buy the paper copies or CD archives of manuals (instruction manuals, maintenance manuals, repair manuals, illustrated parts catalogues, driver's/user's handbooks) on typical WW2 British 6x4 forward control trucks ? The list of vehicles is below: - AEC 644 Marshal - Albion BY1/BY3/BY5 - Crossley IGL7/IGL8 - Guy FBAX - Karrier CK6 - Leyland Retriever - Morris D/CD/CDF/CDFW - Thornyroft Tartar The purpose of this purchase - scale modelling of objects.
  9. I consider, the life in Russia is quite normal - especially at present days, when many people can be engaged in what they want (instead of in what the authorities earlier - during old regime - forced to be engaged). And with the Internet we can search and find friends and adherents worldwide, exchange with the information, and so on. My area of life is Ural Federal District. Eduard.
  10. OK,Ray ! About Harley - Davidson - try the following links: - Russian wartime Harleys - a mortar crews: - US Harley: http://www.o5m6.de/WorkInProgress.html - Russian Lend-Lease museum: http://www.manhunter.ru/offline/291_lomakovskiy_avtomotomuzey.html - Some museum Harleys - two in Moscow, one in Sankt - Peterburg, one in Czech (click images to enlarge): http://www.technic-memorial.narod.ru/Harley-Davidson-WLA-42/Harley-Davidson-WLA-42.htm I think, some from those Harleys were obtained somewhere in Europe and/or in US at present days; but other examples (especially the Harley with sidecar) are survived the War, being in Russia. Enjoy ! Eduard.
  11. This GMC is good job, Ray. You are the Master ! I see British style tyres on this truck - it is very interesting view...:-) Eduard.
  12. OK, Eddy ! Most part of Russian T-34s and SU-100s was: 1) Supplied in different countries of the World. 2) Used as targets on army firing ranges and polygons. 3) Scrapped in the Sixties - the Eighties. And those scrap-yards were situated far away from our town - for example, in Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and other towns, where the metallurgical plants were situated. 4) Used as basic chassis for some special vehicles for military and civilian purposes. 5) Used as monuments - over 400 examples in different towns in Russia and some other coutries. 6) Used for filming purposes and parades - I think, there are up to one hundred such "parade" tanks. Some types of Russian tanks - like IS-4 and T-10 heavy tanks - were scrapped in the Nineties. Now more modern types - T-54, T-55 - are begin to cut. Regards, Eduard.
  13. Dear friends ! I have decided to join this Forum, because I consider, this Forum does great deal saving history, historical technics and inventory, and memory itself about honourable past times. I believe Your site unites true fans of beautiful old vehicles. I support Your with all my heart. My name is Eduard, I am 39 y. o. and I work an electric engineer. My interests are: - military vehicles of WW2 period (tanks, armoured cars, and - especially - trucks and cars). Any materials and information about those "wheeled soldiers" are interesting for me - technical descriptions, images, plans, design history, versions and variants, their using, etc.; - world aviation (both - military and civil, from the period from the Twenties until Today); - scale modelling (1/72 scale military vehicles and aviation). I shall pleased to have exchange by opinions, some information, materials and data, and have contacts with Forum members, MV owners and restorers, and all admirers and fans of those WW2 "iron chariots". Best wishes to all, Eduard.:-)
