It depends on what you mean by history, if you mean the unit it served with your only hope is to find original markings on the front or rear bumpers. I would suggest you join the G503 forum, that's where most of the jeep experts hang out.

I think Richard may be correct with multifuel in which case I'd be looking at vehicles with a K60 engine such as 432 or Abbott but I'm only guessing, there are members on here who have these vehicles so they should be able to help.

The seller is being a bit ambitious with his price in my opinion. For a Hotchkiss to be worth that I would expect it to be immaculate and be fitted with a lot of extras eg 50 cal etc etc

Price will depend on condition and originality and also on the presence of the rare parts which are often missing. If the Weasel is still running on original tracks unless they have been rebuilt I would be very wary about driving it as if a track breaks you will be out of control with neither brakes or steering.New rubber tracks are available from Europe or new excellent original type tracks are available from the US but are prohibitively expensive. A good condition weasel without any of the rare parts would probably start at around £16k running up to about £22k for a well equipped vehicle, these vehicles would all likely be fitted with non standard rubber tracks. No, they warp for a pastime and are not worth bothering with unless you can find a British made one. They are easily recognisable as they have strengtheners cast into them but they are very rare. The other alternative is Rex Ward who has had new ones cast.

You are correct Steve, it is a threshing machine driven by an old Fordson Major. Pity they weren't actually demonstrating threshing, always guaranteed to draw a crowd.

The perceived wisdom on here has always been to use a good quality 30 grade such as Morris's, that's what these engines were designed to use also modern manufacture is far superior to the wartime product. In your vehicles you can use what you want but who's going to pay if it all goes pear shaped?

Blind Veterans UK are hosting a D-Day 75th commemeration at their Llandudno site on 5th and 6th June and invite WW2 and Post War Allied and Axis vehicles, displays and reenactors to attend, (no SS). Camping (military tents only), hard standing for caravans and motor homes available from 4th June. Some expenses will be available as will complementary food and drink all day. WW2 includimg some D-Day veterans will be present on both days and schoolchildren will be guests on 5th June. On 6th June we will be conveying the veterans to the War Memorial on the promenade for a short ceremony where we will be meeting the public, following this we will convoy to Conwy to visit the area where parts of the Mulberry Harbours were built. They were 6x6 and you are correct in that they did split behind the cab. The front part was supported by a jockey wheel to assist loading into aircraft, fishplates were used to connect the two halves.

The type of body fitted is totally irrelevant, until the vehicle is plated , tested and registered as a goods vehicle it is illegal to carry a load unless that load is a fixed part of the vehicle, End of story.

Looks like the type of cab fitted for civi use in Europe post war.
