  1. Seen one today for sale in local Army & Navy store selling for £325. It wasn't the best condition. Is that price the norm? So what do slr bayonets sell for these days?
  2. I've just seen a couple of vids on you tube and the GAZ 69 on there both sounded like badly maintained lawnmowers with a smokers cough! To be fair, I've heard a couple of Landys just like it.
  3. Hi Pete. I love the old fashioned look of the vehicles. I suppose the old saying works, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The 469 looks good but the GAZ 69 does it for me. How much could I expect to pay for either of these vehicles in good running condition? Have you got any recent photos of yours? George
  4. Thanks Stinky. I'd get lost driving to Whitley Bay never mind Europe! I've also got adverts out there for series Landrovers but I must admit, I'd like something different. The 469 and the GAZ 69 look real nice. So I think I'll look closer to home. Good info you gave. Cheers, George
  5. Hi Robin. Did you import yours or was it already here? Have you had any problems with spares etc? George
  6. I was seriously going to get one, not now! Cheers.
  7. I would just like to ask your opinion about buying one of these Russian jeeps. I know they were built for the worst Russian winters etc but are they worth buying? How easy are they to repair and can you buy spare parts here? Are there any Brit importers? Thanks

Ive been advertising for a series 3 ex military Landrover on other sites and someone called Hans Blau has offered me "his" landrover for $3000. The photo was a stock photo from a british dealer. I guessed it was dodgy but I talked to Steve Carr and it was Steve who said he (Hans) would probably send a photo of someone elses Landy. And yes he did! This is just to fore warn you. Cheers, George
  9. Thanks Richard. I was hoping they hadn't been turned into hybrid off roaders or something worse! Roll on my retirement "Lumper" and I'll have another Lightweight. George
  10. I don't know if this has been covered lately but I'm curious if these Landrovers are still about.
  11. Hi and thanks Andy. This isn't the book either. The book I had was a paperback, dark cover with raised numbers as the title. If I remember rightly, the story started with the Top Sargeant getting out of his jeep on the tank battle ground and asking for a volunteer to help him get the body parts out of a battle damaged tank. Does that "click" with anyone?
  12. Thanks Enigma. I've checked through these links but it isn't there. The book I read was definately fiction but part based on the 761. I'm running out of ways to phrase my book search. Thanks, George
  13. I'm trying to find a book about this battalion. I read it a few years ago and it had a number as it's title which may not have been 761. It was a fictional story based on their action during WW2. At least one character was based on the real "Top" Sargeant. It was a paperback, dark gray/black cover with three numbers as the title. It's a long shot but any help would be appreciated. Thanks, George
  14. Sorry mate, I'm not up to dressing up on a first date especially to go riding with you,I'm not that sort of boy. When you get the chance, any chance of a photo of your bikes? Thanks, George
  15. .303Fan,There's nothing quiet about this PETROL scooter! You would be loved using it at the War & Peace as an alarm clock. You'd thank god the weapons are deactivated! It works great since I changed the Centrifugal clutch! Broken Arrow might bring his over to demonstrate it's quiet abilities to you.
  16. I can finally answer part of my own question. It's a Boreem Tankman scooter. With a name like "Tankman," maybe I should paint it green! Why not, others do it with Brockhouse Corgi's !
  17. By the way, it does have a proper stand! I'd ask Clive about it but too embarrassed...LOL P.S. I mean the bike and not the stand!
  18. Thanks Mike, and I'm ignoring you John! The search for info continues
  19. Don't be silly John, I need the bricks to put through your windows!
  20. It's not green and not military. I believe it's a Chinese "Gas scooter." I've seen people ride these sort of things at some events but not this type. So, what is it, how many were made and what age could it be? I don't think it was ever registered. Any help appreciated. Thanks. George
  21. I would recommend helping Steve as his wife Lynn makes great coffee and home made biscuits!
  22. Thanks for the info. The book is too good to sell anyway but nice to know the approx value. George
  23. I have a 1st edition hardback of this book and I believe it is rare. I've been told it is "priceless" by a few LR owners and it maybe priceless to them but in reality, what would you expect the real value to be. Thanks, George
  24. Thanks for that info mate. It is surplus to requirements if anyone is interested. I can take it to Elvington for the Wheels and Wings if anyone wants to buy it for a small donation. George
