In  my observation the ability to drive has nothing to do with age and a lot to do with common sense and a perception of danger, which in my experience is declining.

I do sometimes wonder if riding a bike should be made part of passing a driving test...it would help people understand how vulnerable other road users are. Driving an old vehicle not only makes you plan ahead in traffic and for road conditions, but makes you so much more aware of what is going on. The safer you make vehicles, the more stupid people seem to become!

Have you spotted the "condensed" button - it makes it easier to scroll through and pick out the interesting posts.

Nice catch Lauren, condensed button makes scrolling through much easier

I agree, did not like it at first, I also hate change, but it's growing on me. When you open a post it is easier to read now...a sign of my eyes going? Now I sit back and actually look at it creating or replying to a post appears much clearer.

would be shame to lose any older members, it's tough with IT at the best of times, but I implore them to stick with it for all our sakes! Change can be good, keeps our minds active, and something to moan about 9_9

  3. Regarding Robins truck for sale, would it not be a better option to consider it? I'm sure it would be easier to import and UK register, as vehicles are imported frequently from Ireland into Northern Ireland and re-registered with the DVA.

Although the radio body is nice, I want to look at GS types first. I would also like to get one that is as complete as possible....doors etc.

  4. They have a high fuel consumption. I can help you find one, I life near Arnhem

I have a ferret, fuel consumption does not scare me 😁

I am hopefully viewing one at tanks and trucks, so may have a better idea of what I am looking for after that, thanks for the offer, may take you up on it.

  5. That depends on what you can arrange with the seller. The best option would be to trailer it back to the UK, since the seller has to turn the registration plates in as proof the vehicle has been exported. You can get Dutch export plates, but I don't know if those are valid in the UK (and Belgium or France if you choose that route). You can insure export plates though.

If the seller cooperates you could drive it back on the Dutch registration and under the seller's insurance and then send the registration plates back to the seller once you reached home, but that implies a great deal of trust.

I would look around in the UK first.

Thanks for that, I was hoping it would have been easier :(

maybe I could get seller to delver this side and the sort out transport at this end....again, need a VERY friendly seller :)

  6. Next question.

has anyone here imported one from Holland to uk? How easy and ballpark how much cost is involved. Can I just drive one back and then register it once in uk? What would I need to set in place to get it across the channel? Any advice on getting it registered?

    cheers

  7. Hopefully see you at war and peace and if you have an idea of what you want I can speak to my friend in The Netherlands to see what is about,as there is a better choice over there,if you could get them with power steering I would of gone for one,I especially like the radio body ones.I can think of a good home for the Ferret 😀😀😀😀😀.

    See you soon Simon

    Hi Simon,

unfortunately will not be at W&P, we are away. Will be at tanks and trucks though.
