  1. Seat covers have arrived, shame I have no seats for them yet. lol
  2. I know this thread is very picture heavy, so, I thought I would let all the followers know where I am at and how things are going. The plan is very military in that I plan to finish it by Christmas so there is a lot happening at the moment. I have had new seat covers made and they should be hear next week. I also posted the remains of the steering wheel off for rebuilding so should see the results of that in a few weeks too. I need drawings/dimensions of the canvas roof section. If anyone has any that would be fantastic. The body work is coming on nicely as you can see from the mass of pictures I have posted, but it has not bean easy. I have had a lot of help from other Quad owners on facebook with drawings etc. In spite of this it still took me several attempts to get the rear side right. The result was very bitty but once the welds were cleaned up it was fine. The left side should be easier (I hope). I do have a video of the vehicle driving around for the first time but I cant seem to get it off my phone, sorry. Next on the agenda will be having a new stainless fuel tank made. I only have one tank for the Quad so a second one was going to have to be found anyway. The plan is to only use the new tank and use the second for show only. I cant fit the tanks until I make up the left side. I have to pick up the rolled angle iron arches from the fabricators tomorrow so should be posting up pictures of the left side in the coming weeks. The dash is also coming together nicely although I an still short an oil pressure gauge, So if anyone has a spare knocking about that would be great. People who have bean following me from the start will know the drama I have had finding the right colour. First the vehicle was painted WW2 Portland stone (back when I thought it was ex British Army). Once I realized it was ex Irish Army I tried to match the colour and came up with a very sick green called Olive Branch. Once painted on I wasn't happy with it. I guessed the colour may have faded over time and resided to go for a darker green and came up with BS French Gray. However any info I found about painting Irish Military vehicles of this time period only mention Olive Green. So I have finally settled on this colour for the Quad. There is lots I haven't mentioned but I will in the future. I Hope you are enjoying the thread and a big thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way.

  4. Does anyone have a good oil pressure gauge, and the knob in the top left of the picture? It is held onto the gearbox by two bolts. (My housing has shattered and I am missing the wheel too)
  5. Hi Guys, I see this is an old thread, but, if you still have it I would love a copy of your drivers manual. Ross
  6. Some great reference pictures on hear, thanks for posting them.:
  7. Has anyone got anything for a Commer Q2?
  8. Does anyone have a picture of where the end of the choke cable should attach to the body/chassis?
  9. Epic day!! The Quad moved under it's own power for the first time in about 40 years.
  10. Almost finished with the frame work. Sent some body panels off to get sand blasted. and done some work on the dash.
  11. Length 14ft 8 3/4in Width 7ft 5in Height 7ft 9in At nearly 8ft tall I don't think it would fit in a car garage. Weight of the C8 FAT without crew and spare wheel, but with oil.petrol, water and manufactures' tools; 3t 8c 1q 5lb I dont know what that is in new money. Depending on the country you live will depend on if you can drive it on a car licence. Do a search for this on other threads, I am sure it has bean covered.
  12. I thought so too, and I also thought it was very reasonably priced. I am putting the pump in the post on Monday.
  13. I got this email back from a company called EP Services. I thought some readers might be interested in this. "Hi Ross, It is a unit that we know quite well. The original seal used in this pump is a type that is driven by a small peg that goes through the spindle and locates inside a slot in the seal unit. This drive peg always seemed to cause premature seal failure in this seal design, because the slot for the drive peg wears away and loses its drive. We replace this seal design with a unitised carbon faced seal that is a tight drive fit on the spindle. This not only seals water in the main housing but also seals water from leaking though the spindle and is has a much more efficient drive. We have used this type of seal for many years with outstanding success. It does need to have the boss on the impellor machined down though to ensure that the correct seal tension is maintained. The cost to fully service your unit is £65.00 including new gasket and full guarantee. 2 to 3 days turnaround. From past experience with pumps sent to the Republic, the UPS Parcel charge is usually around £30/35 for a two day tracked delivery service. Superb job you've done on that engine by the way, looks amazing!! Hope we can help with your pump."

  15. Looking forward to that day myself. Landed on my feet as regards shipping, I have a friend who lives there and is moving to Ireland for a few years. She has kept me some space in her container for the parts. Sweet!!
  16. Email sent, thanks for the reply mate.
  17. This place was recommended on FB a few times by other Morris owners. I will fire them off an email. thanks.
  18. Does anyone know where I might locate NOS parts to overhaul the water pump on my C8, or even a replacement pump? I need the carbon seal(X.25507), the felt washer(QA.11020) and the main shaft( V.1795). Or the complete water pump (V.16700)
