question FV432 Driver entry to vehicle / driver steps
harleybaird replied to robin craig's topic in Tracked vehicles
Hi, We have been using a set of aluminium ladders on the 434 that we believe were for the demountable workshops/boxes. It just fits on the two handles of the front engine/steering hatch at the front, and rests on the bolts for that hatch, it even has a hand rail that folds down too, i've seen them for sale at Withams too. Hope that helps Harley -
Hi, Its been a while since i have given you all an update on the 434, well it is now road registered and am just gathering up the pennies for the fuel to bring it home. Now the question if i may, i have been thinking about the intercom set up for the 434, i have looked at a few threads and quite a few have said that an RT351 is a good set but im sure i need a few more components to achieve the intercom set up, could you help me gather a list of equipment i need please, i have a few headsets already. Many thanks Harley

question OMD 80 equivalent oil?
harleybaird replied to harleybaird's topic in Lubrication, Batteries & Electrics
Hi Andy, i havnt yet tested the voltage on the batteries when the engine is running because the place where it is is complaining about the noise it makes. I am aware that mine doesnt charge too well as the alternator light only goes out at 1500 RPM, i think i may have cured that though, the connections were quite bad, only time will tell i suppose. Many thanks Harley -
Hello everyone, Sorry i've been a bit quiet recently, been out doing a lot of shopping, just bought a lubrication trailer from Withams and some brand new tracks to top. After running the 434 now and again i decided to check the oil in it, oh dear the oil was just over the pip at the end of the dipstick, so we aborted the start and came home feeling a bit silly for not checking it in the first place. Also a bit of an update on the battery situation, we took off the original batteries and put some van batteries in their place for now, but back to the originals, we took a reading and one was 16 millivolts and the other was .5 volt, no wander it wouldnt start, we have an amazing charger on them now and its up to 11.9V now. Anyway my question is, what do you lot use as an equivalent of OMD 80? Many thanks Harley

question FV434 generator warning light problem?
harleybaird replied to harleybaird's topic in Lubrication, Batteries & Electrics
Hi, yeah i do mean the light on that panel, sounding like an expensive fix, um as far as i can remember it was showing a few amps on it but not much. Many thanks Harley -
Hi, when i got it delivered, we had to jumpstart it, we got it going and removed the cable, we then lowered the revs just until the warning light went on, then it cut out, suspecting the batteries were well dead we changed them over to a couple of car batteries. We then jumpstarted it again as these batteries were off our van, after that we removed the cable again and proceeded to lower the revs again just until the light came on, this was about 1500 rpm, very high if you want to remove it off the low loader backwards. after running it for a bit we noticed that the relays were clicking in coincidence with the light, revs still at 1500 rpm. Is it normal to keep having the light come on, what does the light exactly mean, that the revs are too low to maintain a charge? Many thanks Harley
