    Well said Sir.

  2. To all the A&E'ers - all those that have their A&E wristband on will have free access to the Tank Museum on Saturday & a hog roast on Saturday evening back at Broadmayne. We will have our sponsors with us -Wargaming.net and their military expert & former tanker Richard Cutland. Once we have crossed the ford & get to the end of this track (pictured) we will be going right stick and right stick again passed Lawrence of Arabia cottage. If I have done my job right - we won't need to right stick into the holding area to allow us to bunch up before we travel the shot distance down to the Tank Museum. Then we will left stick into the arena.........

  3. Glad to see its all progressing. Hope one or all of your film people have access to a drone or 3 for that ariel view down the convoys when we are in the countryside with that type of technology it would be a much too good a opportunity to miss.

    Drones all the way.

Sadly not Cubed :-( the laws have changed soooooooooooo much now - it easier to fly a light aircraft and film from that.

  4. Sunday 19th June - Convoy 2 (Convoy 1 - up to 10 vehicles will be going the Weymouth Veterans Parade) the rest of us will be going to Portland.

Sunday 19th June. We have a fantastic convoy/drive out on the Sunday. We will follow the exact route the vehicles used to embark at Portland. Thanks to my graphic designs skills you can see a yellow arrow. This basecamp - Broadmayne. The red arrow is where convoy 2 will be driving to Castletown D-Day Centre. Castletown is the exact place of embarkation for Bloody Omaha and Point du Hoc. This is something very special and historic and we get the chance, just for a small while, to recreate an amazing scene with all our WWII vehicles in the very place they left from. Castletown is a strange and eerie place as it seems to be just a row of old pubs and taverns from days gone by. You will also see the two Mulberry Phoenix Caisson that are in the harbour...

  5. So, as a round up and update this is what Saturday looks like - we have a lot of driving :D

    Saturday 18th June 2016

10 am. Leave basecamp in full convoy and travel to the Tank Museum (12 miles) via the ford, the bikes will go over the bridge, for 13:00 for the awaiting members of the public. The convoy will do a circuit of the show ring and commentary will be given by the Tank Museum. The whole tank and vehicle convoy will then park up so that members of the public can come and see the vehicles and talk with the crews. The Museum will be providing catering trailers/vans so that the crews can buy their lunch and coffee – refreshments. You will also have access to the museum so that they can have a look around.

15:00. We will then leave in full convoy and travel to the county town of Dorchester (12 miles) and plan to get there at 16:30 and to park up in Weymouth Avenue (next to Brewery Square) for the public to come and see the vehicles.

17:15. To lead the Dorchester Carnival procession in a full circuit of the town, the streets will be lined with people.

18:30. Once we have done the circuit we will say goodbye to the town and head back to basecamp (5 miles). That is the day’s convoys over.

20:00. The villagers are holding a 40’s dance in the village hall. Those that want to, can attend.

Saturday evening we have two hog roasts laid on for you - you will be given wrist bands on your arrival on Friday and this will get you your plate full of hog roast!

  6. The reason the posts were pulled is because we do not allow politics or religion on the forum - for the simply reason (as what happened here) everyone gets very hot headed and they allow their stress to over flow onto the forum - where it isn't welcomed.

So, as has been the case for the last 11 years, no religion or politics on HMVF. It makes for a far simpler life :)

    Many thanks,

    Jack.

  7. Hi jack

came along to the first one with a jeep is it poosible if room to bring a gmc instead throughly enjoyed last time. It would me and one other.

    Morning!

We are just taking armour bookings at the moment then the heavies. Once we know where we are with that, then we can see what space we have left for GMC's etc :-)

  8. Evening all! After registering an interest do we wait for an invite to attend? As its only 6 weeks until the event i would have though i might have heard something by now. Hoping to attend with a hippo, qlr & halftrack.

We took part in both the previous events with our hippo so thought would be nice to take part again.

    Evening!

We started taking entries today. We have spoken to most over the months and as we are limiting numbers this time -we are primarily taking armour bookings first. Then, once we know what space we have left, we will then open up to the heavies.

If you want to book your halftrack in, then let us know here and we will send you the details of how to book in.

    Cheers,

    Jack.

  9. Chums - sorry for delay but we have been waiting to tie up some cool lose ends.......so here we go:

Wargaming is the Official Sponsor for the Armour & Embarkation historic military vehicle road run on the roads of Dorset 18th-19th June 2016

12/04/2016 — Wargaming today announced that they are sponsoring Armour & Embarkation historic military vehicle road run. The roads of Dorset have been quiet for a number of years, but this summer sees the return of the legendary Armour & Embarkation historic military vehicle road run with 10 tanks, half-tracks, armoured vehicles, heavy trucks, tracked vehicles, Jeeps and motorbike outriders.

During months of anticipation ahead of the D-Day landings on June 6th 1944, the highways and byways of Dorset were the scene of an immense build-up of military hardware ahead of the invasion. Armour & Embarkation takes us back to those amazing times with a road run of tanks and other military vehicles on the very roads used by Allied units as they gathered for the invasion. It is an event unique to Dorset where authentic weaponry from World War II runs in convoy on public roads with full support from local communities and public services. The event is based at the

wartime camp D5, in the Village of Broadmayne to support their 1940s weekend. The village was used as a marshalling camp for many thousands of men for the D-Day invasion.

Jack Beckett goes on to say: “It seemed very fitting to have one of the biggest gaming companies in the world support and sponsor Armour & Embarkation. Wargaming have done so much to conserve and promote our WWII history. We are more than honoured to have them alongside us for the event. They will help bring our hobby and our WWII history to a massive audience.”

Richard Cutland, Head Of Military Relations Europe

“At 15 minutes past midnight on June 6 1944 began what was officially code-named Operation Overlord. But from that day on, the historic event became known simply as D-Day. Preparations for the long-awaited second front in Western Europe had depended upon intensive and meticulous military planning with more men, vessels, aircraft and equipment than had ever been seen before. This was the biggest invasion force ever assembled. This event will enable spectators to get a real taste of history. As both a retired soldier and a Wargaming employee I am extremely proud that, as a

Company; we are sponsoring this WWII tank ‘experience’ to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the build-up of D-Day in Dorset , England.”

This year’s event will see over ten World War II tanks and heavy armour, including the mighty Shermans and tank destroyers and in excess of forty other classic military vehicles thundering along the roads and lanes of Dorset with a scheduled stop to see our friends at the Tank Museum, Bovington, and a starring role in this year’s Dorchester carnival on Saturday June 18th.

On the following day there will be two convoys, with one section taking part in the parade for Weymouth Veterans Weekend and the other visiting Castletown, Portland; for the opening of a World War II museum. Castletown is where all the vehicles embarked for D-Day.

Now that we are live with this press release, we can now start taking bookings this week for vehicles. Will start to another thread on that but A&E 2016 looks like it is going to be something special.

    Thanks for your patience everyone.

    Jack, Jim & Adrian :-)

  10. Maybe it was - I haven't seen CMV so can't agree or disagree. One thing I would say though is this; around 20 pages (out of 100) of the latest Windscreen have Ian Young's byline on them. I am not criticising in any way, I had to write copy for the mag on occasion and think imaginatively in order to fill it on others. However 20 of 100 pages may well be an indication of how little he was sent by the MVT membership... Ian's trying hard and deserves support. JC

    Totally agree.

Has to be a tough job when members 'advise' on the content of the magazine but are unwilling to submit anything. That said, not everyone wants to write or has the confidence to write. However, we all like articles on restorations no matter what they are of - because we connect with the pain of the people undertaking the restoration. It's like collective pain..

CMV - sadly, commerce rules. They have to have adverts to make money. It lost its way after Pat Ware left. Now that it is owned by Key Publishing - they have turned up the commercial element of it, and that shows. Price guide, cool to have at the time but now completely outdated and totally irrelevant. Classifieds are the same - that's now all online. They should use that space for something more creative. They should be using Facebook as a driving force but still ignore its power - that's a big mistake. Print media is having big problems and haven't seen ANY traditional publishing house step up to the plate. Still have their heads in sand. I can't see any MV hobby mag making it long term.

  11. Thank you for confirming what is happening , I am sure that many exhibitors will now be rather undecided , do you go to an established show with the aviation attraction or support the local club and their new venture ?? I expect we will end up with two half shows, compared with the recent years combined opps exhibitor attendance..... Rather a pity in my opinion , but if over stretching I.M.P.S you can understand the reasoning.

i see a family meeting brewing to draw straws where we go!!

This reminds me of what the MVT tried to do with the Overlord show. It was stupid and egotistical.

  12. Here is an idea, why dont we ALL park our vehicles OUTSIDE the show ground and then we will be able to come and go as we please and the public will be able to see OUR exhibits for free, so the issue of people paying to see ant empty field goes away......:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I really cant see how anyone can stop you visiting the "dentist or doctor" if needed between 08.00 and 18.30 :angel:

Sir, you are a bad man.
