Morning all - they should now be dialed right back!

Sorry guys - didn't see this thread - I was on the other one that was started.

Thanks guys - bear with me 🙂

Hi guys - how are the looking for everyone now?

A very sad end to a once mighty show. But then the only thing that is permanent in life is change.
-
Thanks guys - we have had a good run at this one and is going around in circles. Have locked the thread. Will see you all in the HMVF Clubhouse for beer 🙂

I think it is time to move on and assume it is dead. No one will go anyway, and in fairness, Brexit would have done damage to the show. Outrageous management (lack off) and Brexit nailed this once mighty show. I hope everyone gets their refunds.

I think it is safe to say that it is game over. Will be interesting when people start to ask for the money that is owed to them....

Andy, if you take away oral testimonies from your story, what do you actually have that is quantifiable primary source evidence? As so far within the entire context of this thread it appears to revolve around tales that are subjectively interpreted and bias.
Andy - Paul has made a very good point with this. Take away the oral history and what is left on the table? It sounds very familiar when Wargaming went after the 'buried' Spitfires in Burma, and we all know how that ended.
Originally it was thought as many as 124 Spitfires were buried by the RAF at the end of the war but they have now concluded it was a myth.Andy - Paul has made a very good point with this. I believe David Cundall is still chasing the dream.QuoteA dig at the international airport near the city of Rangoon, which used to be RAF Mingaladon, has drawn a blank. The project was financed by Wargaming Ltd, who have said they believe the story about Spitfires being delivered in crates and then buried was not true.
Tracy Spaight, Wargaming's director of special projects, said: "No-one would have been more delighted than our team had we found Spitfires.
"We knew the risks going in, as our team had spent many weeks in the archives and had not found any evidence to support the claim of buried Spitfires."

In my opinion, Steven Knight has written a drama for the BBC that does do justice to that remarkable period on the inception of the SAS. It is written of course as a drama, with dialogue and music appropriate to hold the attention of today's audiences, vehicles maybe not absolutely accurate, (pretty good really as the production team went to a lot of trouble in Morocco shooting the desert scenes - the Jeeps and LRDG's Chevy are brilliant) but it shows absolutely what a game changer in WWII these soldiers were. Why do I say this, well my uncle was one of those first soldiers recruited by David Stirling to 'L' detachment, being picked out of many, sitting in that hanger in Cairo. Wounded in the raid on Sirte airfield, went on to Sicily, (we think also Crete?) and then 'Operation Houndsworth' in France before & after D Day. I didn't know any of these stories until decades after WWII, and Ben MacIntyres's research & book, but as far as I am aware, it is 'mostly true', just as the opening credits says! I'm so pleased as he richly deserved his MM. I actually think the series should be a BAFTA nomination.
Stunning family history Andrew!

Used to go past all the time as kid - wish I could have gone in there then 😞

Think they are deluded if they think 2023 will happen. They have lost all support and respect and folks have found better shows to go to now.

Accounts DepartmentThat's an absolutely outrageous reply. How patronising and condescending. Don't take no for an answer.

Have you noticed that there is now no charge for tracked vehicles on the booking website? I am assuming it is because they are not getting many bookings?

Having entered this show, every year from when it started in 1982 as an IMPS club display at Tenterden railway station, I feel it had lost its attraction at the last one in 2019 and vowed then, not to do it again. Many fellow members of IMPS and MVT used to go there and it was a good place to catch up, but in the last few shows at Beltring many faces are now missing. We had the best days when Rex was running it, it had good atmosphere in those days.
I have my thoughts on why this year's launch is so late ...
I think if Richard has said this then it sums it up....
It has to be respected. -
