  1. Cardiff City Councils waste compactors- fantastic! Ive got the key card details of the vehicle which give me the engine number and the serial number, but if you can add any more info I will be very grateful. W.D. number is 46RA69.
  2. Has anyone got any hints or tips how I can clean out my fuel tanks? They are galvanised tanks, with what appears to be a built in reserve. They arent really rusty inside just got a load of ancient farmyard dirt/dead rodent remains etc in them. Thanks
  3. I found on the internet a site which seems to identify vehicle number plates for British Military vehicles. http://www.fleetdata.co.uk Has anyone sent off for one of their booklets for their particular registration series. If you have, how useful was it, does it give any details of the original unit or regiment? Or even better has anyone got details of reg numbers for the RA series of numbers, so I dont have to put my hand in my pocket!! :-D
  4. Probably should be in the stupid questions bit, but where is the gallery?? :?
  5. I met Ken Dodd after a show once. Was going out with an ex-diddy man at the time. I would like to point out at this point tho that all diddy men were female, just in case you had doubts....and he gave me a tickle stick. Not very military I hear you cry, well its amazing what damage you can do with a feather duster! :-D
  6. You think thats bad. I thought my other half had loaded up an old Atari Asteroids game, been looking for a joystick for an hour. :-D
  7. It is quite amusing reading his emails tho! :-D
  8. Thanks John, Im not in any hurry at the moment! Will appreciate a rummage in your box of bits! :-D
  9. You should try doing a google search and try typing in various different versions of Morris. Type in Morris CS, Morris commercial etc see what you get. Have a look at Keith Brookers pages from MVT Essex Branch. By the way, does anyone know where or how I can get my dizzy sorted. Either getting it reconditioned or know what part numbers make up the rotor arm, condenser etc? Is there a modern day equivalent by Lucas or Intermotor? Also try a peek at this website http://www.afrika-korps.de/forum my German isnt that good, but there are some good pics of Morris on there in North Africa.
  10. Hello, Ive just acquired a 1944 Morris commercial (the later version of the quad), have just started taking it apart to start on the chassis, so I done some intensive research before buying. I couldnt find any books relating to them. There is a series just started in CMV magazine on the Morrises, and there was an article in Wheels and Tracks and there are numerous pics on websites. a good website for pics of the Morris is http://www.afrika-korps.de/forum :-)
  11. Can I find the pic of the vehicle? Can I heck as like! You have probably seen the photos of the Morrisses on the http://www.afrika-korps.de/forum
  12. And I thought I had some welding to do....!But you do have more floor than I have,. All th best. :-)
  13. Many thanks for that bit of info, I will dig out the photo when I get back onto the computer at work. Great website. My Morris is in a state of being stripped down at the moment but will post pics when I suss out how to get them on here!(They dont make it easy do they!) Regards Rick
  14. Thanks for that, I've only just discovered this forum and already everyone has been extremely helpful and a cracking source of info! :-D
  15. Hello, yes me again. I sent off to DVLA what I thought was all the appropriate documentation to register my MV. Included in this budle of paperwork was the Key Card from the MOD showing vehicle number, engine number and MOD disposal date etc. They sent back all the paperwork (surprise, surprise) asking for the release form from the MOD so that they can register it. Surely the key card holds the info they want or is there another document that I dont know about? Thanks in advance
  16. If his name happens to be Julian north of Oxford, and I dont suppose there is too many barns with 2 or 3 Morisses in then yes! He has the sand coloured one and a nice little jeep.
  17. Get something British m- not enough of them! Everyone and his dog have got an American MV! :-)
  18. Hello! I've been looking at a Royal Artillery website which gives details of individual RA regiments, what they comprised of (Anti-tank/A.A. cannon etc), and where they saw action in Europe. Surely some of the Morisses were sent to Europe as artillery limbers? I agree a lot went to Korea, India, Burma etc. I'm sure Ive got one very grainy picture of a GS in the European Theatre. Now showing my ignorance- what is OD16?
  19. It may sound like a daft question, but was there a standard colour used for British vehicles that went into Europe after the initial D-Day landings. Ive seen the "mickey mouse ears" type camoflage, but was wondering wether my Morris C8 would have been sporting a deep bronze green gloss, or if it would have just had an olive drab? Any ideas or suggestions? Also desperately on the lookout for 900x16 british tyres if anyone knows of anywhere. Thanks in advance Rick
  20. Hello all, the name is Rick or Richard Whyte, whatevers easier! Just plunged into the world of HMV's after looking at getting one for what seems years! My better half didnt ever think I would get one, I shall never forget the look on her face when she saw it! I have liberated a Morris C8/GS 1944 from a barn in Oxfordshire. Chassis is sound but the cab is as rotten as a pear. Luckily I own and run a garage which does mechanical repairs, so progress is fairly swift at the moment. Stripping it all down for a rebuild and hope to get it on the road by Spring. If anyone knows of a supplier for tyres 900x16 British, I would be forever grateful!
