Lets hope we can some of the local vehicle owners to come along. There seems to be a fair few owners about the town and surrounding area's that might pop over for the day.

Just got back from our meeting with a very nice lady indeed. well we have been given a blank canvas guys, we have a massive camping area, a big shed full of lovely old things and full support from there team. I will give the location very soon. During our meeting we where asked if it was posible to put a public display on for one of the days we where there. Me being me said yes, but for a very good reason. With the rising cost of fuel I think a display on the Saturday would benifit all involved. We will still have our Sunday track bash over Salisbury Plain once once the loose ends are tied up with West Down, and We will still have the fun we always have on this little get together. So what has our new partners offered us apart from a big camp site and shen full of old aircraft and vehicles? WELL, they have offered us the main hall to display around 10 to 15 vehicles in. your vehicles will be displayed along side part of the current collection spanning WW2 gliders to more resent stuff like Chipmink, Scout helicopter and a huey cobra helicopter. It's down to use to decide what we put in there. Running in the same vain as the shed we have a large outdoor area for more displays. radio Com's set ups, Medical, Armour display. If I can find some re-enactors to join us for a day then that will also be thrown into the mix. Also agreed we can display private collections of small arms, uniforms and alike indoors. Like I say, a blank canvas guys. Now the hard work, getting vehicle owners and groups to get involved with what I hope will turn into a weekend that has been missing from this neck of the woods. Been sat here for ages now trying to think what vehicles and heavy kit the British used during the falklands conflict. I'm sure we had a few CVR(T) either scorpion or Scimitarts, Land Rovers and some 105 fieldguns. Was there any trucks and heavy Mortars used??? Any help on this will be greatfully recieved. Tony.

Just a quick up-date. Going to meet up with a very nice person on Friday to sort out our camp site. A new location again this year and I think this is going to be a real treat. Not going to say to much about the location, but everyone that came last year might remember the visit we did, well it is there. We have already talked about some very interesting ideas for this event and pos the future for the event and the location. If we get this site, there is no limits to the ideas we can work on. Remember, 30th anniversery of the Falklands war next year, and we all know what they have in that big shed of theres. Thats it for now, preying for some great news on Friday....... Tony.

Hello John, it can get a bit much sometimes though. On the Dagger MRX last month we had Chinooks at 3oclock in the morning dropping troops and doing medivacs on the hill just behind the house. This went on for about an hour or so, wasn't worth going back to bed after that. Three cabs in total, two dropping of, one on medivac. Just to add insalt to injury, they also flew with Apache and Lynx top cover. All they seem to do is fly round and around for ages. The MRX ran for two weeks non-stop with halos playing a large part of it. You get to see some great stuff on these MRXs, but hell it don't half make you tired and very grumpy, just ask SWMBO hehehe........

It,s great isn't it. If like me you just sit in the garden on a summers day watching all the low level halos and picking bits of grass out your beer. I'm just on the edge of the SPTA and get everything from Middle wallop, Benson, Odiham and Boscombe Down. On some days we even get a Herc or two from Lynham dropping chutes over the back fence.... Hooray for Halos & Hercs..................

Just to let you all know, we are working on this years PIW, things are a bit slow due to campsite issues. I have contacted the Army for a site on the SPTA and I am just waiting for their response. I would be grateful to know if we still have your continued support for this years event? We will have full fire, medical and rescue cover this year and we are working on having full convoy comms with the help of Chris and his team of Air Cadets. All are welcome to this event. If the weather is fine for Saturday then we are defo going back. Had a guy look over the parts yesterday, came up with the same answers, not sure but looks very aircraft type. I will take my camera with me next week and try and give you guy an idea of the "crash" site. If the crater is what I think it is then with a bit of luck a serial plate should be down there somewhere. I do need to go and find the old farmer boy that owns the field oppist "Blenheim field" and get his take on the bits. I have found out since posting this thread that there was a massive WW2 dump very near by, could it be something from that? Anyhow, hopefully more to come, and with luck, that ID plate. Will do mate. I have a list of A/c crash site from around this grid area, from a very short list, maybe just maybe it could be one of these. Mustang 3 - 3TEN Hurrican 11b - 245,Sq Wesley - 1RAE Battle 1 - 52,Sq Blenheim IV - 2SAC Would love it to be the Mustang or Hurrican. Tony.

As a young boy, I was always told of plane crashs in my local area. What with Andover airfield no more than three miles away there was plenty of aircraft in the sky. One site I have always had a keep interest in is Blenheim field. The name came from the local farmer that told me many moons ago that a Blenheim had nose dived in there during the War. Last Saturday I got the chance to have a ferret around with my metal detector. I did not go to Blenheim field but to the one oppisit. It was not long before finds started to come to the surface. Now I'm not saying these are aircraft fragments, BUT, while digging a coin out the ground I noticed a faint crater about 100ft to the side of me. This was my target for the last hour of my detecting day. The crater is full of bits of green metal, pipe work and other bits I can't seem to identify. Two bits of metal have numbering on them, one has 68887, the other 1007 and a small round stamp with 46 in it. Anyhow, here are the pictures, have a look, what do you think? possible plane parts or just a load of old pants. I have the farmers blessing to return to this site in the very near future, hopfully I will be able to add more finds to the thread. Many thanks for looking and any help would be welcome. Tony.
