  1. Just a quick update ….. UIN ….. F6675A relates to RAF Honington.
  2. Chris, Thanks for getting back to me. Other than knowing my Wolf was with 'The RAF Force Protection Force HQ' (so many 'Forces' in the title !) from 1997 -to- 2008, I don't know which unit/section/team it served with. I was hoping that this could be discovered from the UIN. The RAF Force Protection Force (... all those 'Forces' again !) since 2015 is based at RAF Honington, prior to this I think the HQ was RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire. So if I could find out (if someone has a definitive list) what UIN F6675A relates to, it would give me a clearer idea of the vehicles service history. Here's hoping .............
  3. Clive, Thank you for the installation diagram, however my Wolf is a soft top. I believe that the blue lights (on a soft top) were on top of an extended aerial candlestick (?)
  4. Good morning everyone. I am the proud civilian owner of a soft top LR Wolf which was registered KA 74 AA. I've been trying to delve into the service history of the Wolf and have found the following information but I'm looking for a bit more. From a FOI request I've found that the Wolf served with 'The RAF Force Protection Force HQ' from 1997 (Its date in service) until January 2008. One of the FOI documents was the modification record which show it was modified by the fitting of 'Emergency Lights, Siren and wiring Harness'. From this I'm assuming it served with the RAF Police rather than the RAF Regiment (?). The RAF Force Protection Force HQ is currently at RAF Honington, but not sure where they were based 1997 - 2008. ON the vehicle history record the UIN (Unit Imprest Number) for the Vehicles RAF service is 'F6675A' So, basically, was this vehicle RAF Police or RAF Regiment ? Where was the RAF Force Protection Force HQ in 1997 - 2008 ? What location does F6675A relate to ? TIA Barrie S.E.Wales
  5. Steve, .... and you laughed at me when I said you needed a sledge !🤣
  6. Dear All, I have a 320 man pack which has obviously seen better working days and would like to get it working again. When switched on, with a fully charged battery, it emits a continuous high pitched whine.. There is no receive or transmit. I don't feel confident enough to delve into the inner workings of the 320 so was looking for recommendations for a person / company that will do repairs on the 320. Thanks in anticipation.
  7. Iain / Andy Thank you for the info. My LR Wolf is currently with 'the man with a spray gun', should be back in the next day or so and then the start of the build up. I would have expected a 2 metre quarter wave rod to have been around 19 (+) inches. However being shorter is going in the right direction, easier to take off metal than to add it ! .... and the next problem relates to a non working RT320, but I'll start a new post on that.
  8. Gordonb, Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it will have to wait a while as a friend has just offered to re-spray the Wolf in a couple of weeks time, so I’ll be slowly stripping everything off the vehicle. When It’s all back up and running and radios, antennas etc installed will try an experiment or two and post the results. Won’t be for a while though.
  9. Thanks for the reply And that was going to be my next route, however my friend has offered to respray the Wolf so everything on hold at the moment until Wolf prepped, sprayed and ancillaries bolted back on. will keep you updated
  10. Dear All, Hoping this isn't a silly question ? I want to use the Clansman mount, (Photo's A & B) with a 2 metre amateur radio set in my LR wolf. In the top part of the mount (Photo C & E) there is a transformer / balun. If I by pass the transformer / balun (Photo F) and use a quarter or five eighth wave length of Clansman aerial rod. will that suffice or am I missing something ? Thanks, Barrie 2W1GMM

  14. Now Sold .............................. I bought F207077 a couple of years ago and from what I can gather it was Mr Chris Wilkinsons own Dingo and he used to sell bits off it, when he had the yard at St. Albans, and replace the parts on F207077 from his stock of new parts. This seems to be borne out by the gearbox still having a number in yellow wax crayon on the casing. From my research F207077 was manufactured in May or June 1943. I have loads (... and I mean loads !) of information regarding the vehicle together with Workshop manual, Parts List, Drivers/Operators handbook etc. The vehicle is totally straight, starts well, drives well and looks really good. The tyres look to be unworn. Exhaust in excellent condition. Butler headlights with the blackout hinged part. As new canvas roof. Working WS19 with correct rubber 'anti vibration' mounts. Correct 'A' and 'B' set aerials/bases. Convoy light. DVLA road registered. All tinwork, fuel tank, wings, starage boxes etc are in excellent condition. Loads and loads of extras - Fire extinguisher, correct jack, dated shovel, Petrol/Oil/Water cans, first aid boxes, bags, bren gun mag rack, map board, bullet-proof glass drivers blocks, to name a few ..... etc, etc Belly armour available but not fitted. For some reason or other the KI-Gas system is not connected. Two years on, and only 50 or so miles clocked and everything is still in excellent order. . I bought the Dingo after regretting selling F48582 many years ago. Little did I realise that I have also aged and the getting up, in and out is no longer as easy as it used to be. (Give me my M151 MUTT any day for ease and comfort of driving !) To sum it up, you would be hard pressed to find find a nicer Dingo. It will require on going maintenance, being 76 years old but is an excellent example of the marque. Based S.Wales - 12 miles from Severn Bridge. e-mail enquiries to: Barrie@marcherlords.co.uk
  15. For Sale. M416 trailer in very, very good condition. The data plate indicates it was manufactured in December 1965 and issued later that month. It is complete with rubberised canvas cover and frame to raise the centre of the canvas to stop water pooling. Several years ago the tub was taken off the chassis and everything was cleaned and painted, the underside of the tub with ‘Waxoyl’ chassis paint. There is no rust other than a few spots of light surface rust where the paint has been worn inside the tub by camping equipment. There are lights fitted to the trailer which need re-wiring. Tyres are good condition 700x16 bar grips. The hand-brake and brakes work as they should. The trailer is always garaged. The only reason I’m selling is that I don’t use it anymore and need the room for another vehicle (!) Priced at a very reasonable - £700.00 (ovno) – Collected from South Wales. btrichards@hotmail.com 07889 434921
