  1. No, not round my part of the world, they turn up in the dozens, as do tractor owners.... even in the rain!
  2. As some of you know I'm a Airportable fan and show them at local events kitted out, allso put on kit displays with mates as well. I for one dont mind paying a fee to folks who put on events. I can understand the blood, tears and sweat that orginisers go through usually 12months before the event so we have somewhere to have a cracking weekend with mates and hopefully chat with Joe public about our vehicles and hobby, and hopefully get younger folks intrested. I do know of events that folks have put one hell of a lot of effort into for vehicle owners not to turn up because the weatherman said it might rain!! One event this year I went to that happened, in my opinion only it was a late booking from a living history/display group that saved the event and helped turn it into a weekend to remember for all sorts of reasons. On the subject of cost of entering a show, I have friends into VW camper vans, we have a major event on our doorstep. Vans etc. as far as the eye can see, traders, food halls etc. etc. £35 EACH! (so my friend and is wife £70) for the weekend!!!!! VW's 20-23 MPG? LETS ALL SUPPORT OUR EVENTS IN 2013 WHILE WE STILL HAVE THEM.
  3. Excelent info. thanks. Goes to show, worth checking every rail and pile of clothing at Militairs.
  4. At Malvern picked up a Shirt, Jungle. I did not study the label well at the time, poor light anyway. At home the next day spotted just how old it is, 1944, excelent condition and some intresting features. Main one being like a double buttoned front fastening, printed label 'Gas Flap'??? My main question I would like to know when was this shirt replaced with what I thought it was 'Jungle Green' I have tried to heighten detail of the label as faint.
  5. Yep it was a very good day and social event. Chevpol and my self were allmost last off the car park! Some very good finds to be honest, but needed to have a good root. My finds, Chapeau de brousse (French bush hat) French boots. BATCO folder with cards, pamphlet for voice procedure and SLIDEX, very clean SIZE2, Jacket, Combat, Tropical. Shirt,Jungle, not what I thought at all, will need to photo. and ask what Ptn. it is, it's dated 44'! Unused KD boonie, dated 54'. Helmet net, one or two £1 items.
  6. Hi there, a young mate of mine has just found and bought a Matador. Quite close to me so can pop and get pic's if intrested. At the mo. He is intrested in learning any of it's WWII history and military service post war. Has a load of history and doc's after release. For now a pic. of the origional chassis plate. Thanks for any help, I will pass on.
  7. I really must update when pics. sorted. Very pleased to say I completed the rebuild ready for the MOT and tax from the 1st Sept. I took the vehicle to a local chap who has a small buisness and own's a AirPortable to set lights, emissions etc. He took the Landi for the MOT and it passed!! without a prob. Went for a spin the next day, taking small journey's, home for checks etc. Have now done 400Km with Her with just a tweek of the timing and the brake light switch which has been a pain. To be honest it runs rather well, having to watch the speed a bit. Had 65MPH with out even trying!!!!! But must mark the clock off 30-40 mph. Pic. taken on Sunday during longest trip so far.
  8. Going to have a chat with mates Sunday Paul, but hope to attend to support you.
  9. They have a excelent f/b page, well worth liking.
  10. So sorry abought things, had been following your restoration with intrest. Here's to better times and the next project.
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum. Intresting looking truck you have there.
  12. Been following with intrest, do have a few foul weather garments, but main question is, are 'Air crew' basicaly the same with just a different label. Think quite old. (Trousers)
  13. The reason being for the UN white (RAL 9016, Satin) was the chap (first owner on log book) bought the Landi. off a local Ex. Mil. vehicle dealer many years ago. It was in UN colours with a UN stenciled on the doors. Was told it was one of a batch from Greenland? As mentioned in early posts was undicided what colour to paint, but as I found traces of the white everywhere decided to return to 'as found' Saves sending the log book off as well! Tool straps now fitted.
  14. Picked up the seats last Monday, now fitted I realise the middle seat is needed as it just does not look right. Will sort later after Mot as a third seat belt will be needed as well. I'm rather pleased with them (Ex. trim) Seat belts all fitted a treat. Door 'stops' which I mentioned I fabricated the tubes. Re-torqued all axle/springs/mountings bolts/nuts. Spare wheel fittings sorted and fitted. Few more pics. Swop directional tyres drivers side. £18.20 5Lt. BS285 (Just ran short cup full!) 5Lt thinners £35 Seats. £108.26 Tail gate tool straps £36! (Yep, could have saved there, but now just want finished and made enough) Various bulbs, fuses and elec. fittings. £8.60 Know I have three other reciepts for parts need to find.
  15. As it was last weekend. I have struggled to find a few 'bits' to complete on the on line auction sites, fact, if 'lightweight' is mentioned they seem to rocket. So I have turned to having a go and fabricating my self. Really pleased with the results. Pics to follow. I dare not add up the cost, as mentioned in a early post I love my Airportables, single and work for min. wage. So dont be put off if you want a go. BUT the project as cost me in time and my spare cash!
  16. Sorry not been updating as much as I had been. The project is now nearing completion with a pos. MOT date second week of Aug. I have really been strugling against the weather etc. which as set me back at least a month. A final coat of paint was given last weekend. Most of the parts have been refitted with just seats (hope to pick up on Mon.) Seat belts, well I hope that is it then. I will let a chap have it for a day to track, set headlights and set carb. etc. Will dig out the last few reciepts in the next few weeks and add a few more pics. (posted a update couple of weeks back but failed somehow)
  17. Twin mag. pouch. On show at the Welsh Guards Museum, Park Hall Farm...Oswestry. Well worth a visit.
  18. Matching ser. No's? Few years back sat and had a lesson at a event by a armourer who had worked at MOD Donnington. Told us that when SLR's came in for refurb etc. this part went in that box, that part went in another etc. etc. When they were rebuilt a part came from that box, checked and fitted. Another part came from another...etc. etc. Told us that if the ser. no's matched, had never been issued or seen very, very little service and never been for refurb. Dont know, just what we were told by a armourer.
  19. Promised my self to visit this year when I have a holiday or free weekend. Not far from me.
