  1. Yeah I suppose. But the boring bit is that when I look closer on how the swap has been done I start to belive that it was done by someone that started to restore her earlier. Some bolts looks quite new and things lite radio-suppresion cables(?) have just been cut off and not reconnected. On the other hand it looks like the engine is from a fairly early version of the Power Wagon. Maybe I can find a PW with a Dodge engine installed;) Johan
  2. Things go wrong sometimes! I have been a little uncertain about the engine in my Dodge since it does not look the same as other WC engines I have seen. Today I think I know why: It is not a Dodge WC engine but a Fargo Power Wagon engine. I did a search on the serialnumber of my engine and it turns out that the number matches the Dodge /Fargo PW series. On a technical-historical basis this is interesting since I think the swap has been made by the swedish armed forces. They had a bunch of Fargo PW and I guess that towards the end of their service a lot of cars were canibalaised. On the restoration basis this raises a lot of questions and doubts. Maybee it is better ti use "Stjarna" as a donor car instead. After all I miss a lot of other parts for her, and it may not be worth-while to put the needed time and labour into this project. Time for some serious thinking! Johan E
  3. Hello! Some more resent examples from my own experience: When I was working as an chief officer sailing in Greenland the draft surweyor from DNV told me about the problems with trucks and equipment left by the americans after the cold war. Apparantly a lot of the trucks were dumped into the water and was now concidered an enviromental risk. thus it had landed on DNV:s table to make up plans for their recovery from the water. Wounder how it went? Johan Erlandsson
  4. Hello and "Hej" Goran! As always nice to see some Dodge pictures. Gives me some inspiration for my extremly slow-mowing project. I must say that I get a little jellous when I find out you only paid 3000NKr:) It is a very nice vehicle you got there! My own project has stalled a little and I am still on the search for cargo-bed parts. I have also some problems with the aft crossmember of the frame since it turned out to be rusted through. Since it is rivveted I am not really shure what to do, but that is part of the experience... Johan erlandsson Hok , Sweden
  5. Love at first sight! Congratulations to a fantastic project! Johan Erlandsson
  6. And not much progress! I have removed the exhaust manifolder and found out that one of the screws clamping the intake/ exhaust togetther was broken. I suppose I should have taken varning from the fact that al nuts clamping the manifolder to the engine was new but there was nothing done to the manifolder. Anyhow, I have cleaned up the manifold and decided to split it and re-thread the holes if necessary. Also I have to find a solution to the fact that the hole for the crank-house ventilation have been retreaded with a M-tread insteda of the original . Otherwise there is some work going on with seats and the winch. AND I HAVE FINALLY GOT ME AN WELDING MACHINE, JIPPIE! All the best Johan
  7. A nice trip to Gothenborg! I was able to find my missing exhaustpipes, a couple of swedish rearlights (NOS) and some other odd bits and pieces for my Dodge. And on the way home I got me an ESAB welding machine! Now I only need to find a garage ..... Johan
  8. Hello everybody! A picture of my Dodge as it was when it arrived to my place. I have to admit that there has not been much visible progress since then. I have collected some spares (mainly exhaust etc) and tried to sort out what the parts in the wodden bin are for. As you can see the rear is not original, but at least I found some round steelpressed parts for the sides. I suppose it may be quite a stupid idea to start working on this object, since there are quite afew pieces missing, but I have never been that clever:D And it is not as bad as it may look: I have the fenders, complete if rusty windshield-frame with what I think is original glas and some other bits and pieces. Also I have got a bit found of "Stjarna" (Star in swedish) as my kids have namned it. http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/3017/dsc1008z.jpg
  9. Tjenare and hello Goran! I will make a trip to Gothenborg and collect parts for the exhaust system next week. It turned out that "Terräng-Axel" have what I need. Thank you for your offer about the exhaust manifold, but that and the silencer is actually all exhaust-parts I have on my WC. I guess I might be able to hunt down a few more parts while in Gothenborg. There is always something you realise that you miss! Johan Dodge WC51/52 "Stjarna" ("Star" in swedish, namned by my children after an extra bonnet with an allied star painted on it)
  10. Tjenare! Nice to connect with other people here at the forum. My Dodge is a WC51 converted to a WC52, probably done by the army at delivery to Sweden. I understand that this was done by the workshops that made pre-delivery inspections. Judging by the faded paintwork and the gas-weld seam it has been done quite long ago. At the moment there is a lot to do with my car. I hope to find exhaust-parts and maybe also most of the parts aft of the driving-compartment.:-) I actually managed to find a swedish mechanics instruction yesterday at the Swedish military historical society:s homepage. I hope it will arrive today or tomorrow. Thank you for the tip about the plate-makers, it sure will be usefull! Regards Johan i Hok
  11. I think I missed to introduce my self! My name is Johan and I live in south-central Sweden. I have a long time project with the restoration of a Dodge WC 51 converted to 52 by the swedish army. My goal is to have it in running condition and in swedish army standard as in the mid fifties (three color cammoflage, swedish lights etc). Best regards Johan
  12. Hello! I may have an odd project going. I´m restoring my Dodge WC back to Swedish army standards c:a 1955. On these vecicles all(?) original dataplates were exchanged for swedish ones. Is there anyone out there who have pictures and / or examples of these plates? My car is lacking all of these plates and I suppose I will have to find a way to make new ones.:-) Best regards Johan Hok, Sweden
