  5. I'm going on tuesday with the following. Me=110 landy dad=champ alan=jeep bing=110 landy fred=lightwieght landy alex=seris 3 landy We stop for brekkie on the way near the A20. See you all there!
  6. For those that have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.
  7. I normally find them very easy to talk to, what amaze's me is how they talk about the stuff they got up to as if it's an everyday occurance. I alway's feel humbled.
  8. Another good tip; I have always put a heavy duty on/off switch on the coil side of the circuit and hidden the switch under the dash so that if someone try's to nick it, it will turn over but never start. On a diesel wire it to the fuel pump, it will start, but only run for about 2 minute's before it conk's out. My mate had a mini cooper and someone cut the stearing lock off, forced the ignition barrel but could not get it started because of the secret switch.
  9. Iv'e had a few of these on different landy's, bloody good they are to, mine were in the positve side, the good thing about them is if the wiring starts burning you can stop it by pulling out the switch/key, very useful on an old landy were the wiring has been played about with.
  10. Iv'e seen car cover's with pocket's on the outside to put the tax disc in, didn't look very secure though.
  11. Thanks andy, I thought about american ww2 because I think it looks smart, it's only for wearing of an evening at a show when we go out to eat or for a drink, during the day I normally have my short's on(even if it's raining!). I suppose i'm looking for a uniform that won't offened anyone. I tried stocking's and suspender's but all the bloke's kept comming on to me!!

    Beltring

Hi guy's(and girl's), i'm a new boy on here and I saw a suggestion about some sort of sticker for our vehciles to show we are menbers of HMVF. Well I have a cunning plan!. I'm going to put a sign in the window of my landy with the letter's HMVF so you can tell that i'm a member, and if your walking around in the america's field you should be able to spot me. Feel free to come up and say hello, cup's of tea, can's of beer and a nice comfy chair will be avaliable to you all. You know what it's like walking around beltring, scorching hot, the leg's get tired and you need a sit down but your mile's from where you are camped. well, if you see me, come and sit down for a brew. Good idea? let me know.
  13. Iv'e been thinking about getting a uniform from warhorse, spoke to them a couple of times at different shows and found them very friendly, i'm thinking about a ww2 master sgt 101/82nd airbourne, i drive a land rover and dress as a para but am getting a little bit fed up with ex para's passing snide comment's. I have never been in the army and don't tell people I have, but some people take offence at me dressing as a para, so if I go ww2 hopefully I won't upset anybody. The reason I went para is because my mates ex 2 para sgt and he does'nt mind and say's it's an honour that I chose para but some people see it differently.
  14. DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE! They are there to be enjoyed. I'm not worried about fuel, but I do drive a 110, if I had anything bigger I would still drive it, sod the fuel, it's my hobby and I don't drink much and a good night out on the booze can come to £100 with cab's food etc. I might spend £80 on something for my landy and my mate's think i'm mad, well, I think thier mad spending £80 on a pair of trainer's!! I can do most show's(fri night-mon morn) with about £200 which include's fuel, food and drink which I think is brilliant. From the moment I arrive at a show to the time I go home I don't stop laughing and that's what it's all about
  15. I think the most important thing is that someone has put time and effort into keeping another MV out of the scrapyard. I was at bletchley park a few year's ago and there was a ww2 lorry camped next to me(a morris I think) and the owner had done a really nice job of restoring it. A guy came up to it with his mate and starting telling his mate, this is wrong, that should be on the other side, they didn't have that etc etc(rivet counter of the highest order!), when he finished slating the lorry, he say's to the owner "is this yours", the owner says "yes" and the rivet counter starts saying"I hope you don't mind me pointing out all the stuff that's wrong". The owner then get's a photo album of his dad during ww2 driving the same lorry and the photo's where exactly the same as the lorry at bletchley. He then told the rivet counter "to p*ss off and mind his own business". I could'nt stop laughing!
  16. Not sure if this one is true, at gosfield lake in essex the yanks pushed a load off jeeps into the lake after the war. I also heard a rumor that if it's worth less that 10.000dollars the yanks leave it behind.
  17. MY stepfather used to buy military surplus in the early 50's and ship it abroad, he told me that he was sorting through one lot he bought "50 crates/assorted surplus" when he opened up a wooden crate and there was brand new sten gun's in it!!. He got on the phone to the MOD, or war department as it was known then and they came down at 200mph!!!.
  18. My dad's a retired mechanic(although his champ, my landrover and all our friend's MV's keep him busy). He swear's by brittool and won't use anything else. Watching him work is like watching a surgeon performing an operation!. He wipe's down every tool when he's finished with it and alway's put's it back in the same place in his toolbox. Sometime's when i'm feeling naughty, I mix his AF's up with his metric's, he goes mad!!
  19. This subject really get's me going!! Since gun's were banned, gun crime has gone through the roof!! And we all know why, because the goverment do not punish criminal's!! I am sick criminal's getting away with murder, rape and robbery. We all go to work, pay our taxe's and try to be decent people and what do they do, take away free road tax!!. I am fed up with criminal's getting treated better than decent people  Rant over
  20. Well done jack, a brilliant job! I thought i'd add to the roller/brush/spraying debate. After years of brush painting my landy's(dad's influence, "you can't beat a good hamilton boy!", I decieded to try spray painting. Although I got good result's it was a pain in the ar*e with all the preperation, you have to make sure everything is really well rubbed down otherwise you see every imperfection, the masking up takes age's and spraying on my drive upset's the nieghbour's  . I decieded to try the roller method, my dad was not impressed, but when do we ever listen to our parent's . I bought my gloss roller from B&Q with 5 spare head's, had the paint mixed at the local paint shop, synthetic satin finish and away I went. The result-brilliant!, I only needed one coat(sand on blue)and it dried in about 2 hour's. Even my dad said it looked good!. I am never going to brush paint a landrover again
  21. Hi guy's, my name's richard and my passion is landrover's, i currentley own a 110 2.5 N/A diesel(slow I know, but it allow's me to look around whilst driving!). I have owned various landie's in the past such as, 2a, 2a lightwieght(wished i'd kept that!) seris 3 lightwieght, seris 3lwb etc. MY 110 is desert/black camo at the moment but will be going over to green/black for the summer. I go to show's with my dad who's got an austin champ. I hope I can add to the great post's already on here.
