  1. Have just been down to find a plot and set up my tent. This is my fourth year at The Hop Farm and there is a noticeable increase in the large number of civvy tents, motorhomes and white caravans that would be better suited to a Camping & Caravaning Club site. Not an issue if they were located in the general camping area, not sure it is appropriate in the military areas when they are so obvious and detract from the military vehicles.. On a positive side the precipitaion has subdued the dust and there is still plenty of space in the field next to Lower Monktons.
  2. Andy, Excellent news, not sure all your kit was going to fit into the 110. See you Sunday.
  3. Ground anchor. I have the mast that is shown in this link http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?8090-radio-mast&highlight=larkspur+mast. I gather it is Made by Racal Part No. 638-999, please forgive me as I am not a radio man. I am trying to obtain a new/used ground anchor (A large tent peg with a hole in the top for the mast to sit in). If anyone has a spare that they would be willing to part with, could they please drop me a pm. Regards SEGREQ
  4. Just a fyi for anyone that finds themself wondering what charger they should get. I left my Land Rover in the barn over winter wired up to an Accumate motorcycle trickle charger. I can confirm that this did the job and the Landrover started first time everytime. Allbeit i only took it out a couple of times. SEGREQ.
  5. Tony & Antarmike, Seems like a solar charger it is then, thank you for your help. Regards SEGREQ
  6. Not wishing to be awkward, BUT if the vehicle was outside I guess that it would be ideal especially at shows. My vehicle is in a barn while there is limited light inside, it is not a glazed barn and not bright inside and the charger would not be in direct sunlight. I guess that it would be fair to say that it would receive as much light as it would if in an average shed. Would this keep the solar charger & my battery happy?:undecided: Regards SEGREQ
  7. My Land Rover is a 2.5 N/A diesel. It is 12v and resides in a barn when not being used. My knowledge of mechanical/ elecrical things is limited. I have quite happily left an Accumate motorcycle charger trickle charging the battery, as you would, well it works for the bike battery so should for my Land Rover. The last time I used the Landy about two months ago I noticed that the battery sounded a little tired but did get the Landy started. Just the cold I thought. When I mentioned this to some of the chaps at work various bits of advice flew, after the sighs and guffaws had ended. They pointed me in the direction of: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/ring/rcb320-20-amp-workshop-charger-engine-starter-12v.aspx or http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_270511_langId_-1_categoryId_165629#dtab As none of them own a Land Rover or would use it in the same circumstances as I do I thought I will seek some advice from likeminded but more knowledgeable people. My only real need is: 1. Keep the battery of the Land Rover (in situ) topped up permanently when not being used. I do not remember if there are any markings on the battery (I have seen AHs mentioned on other posts) I will be going over this week to have a look, but I do know I have only the one battery. Regards SEGREQ
  8. FV1609, Indeed it was. Spent a year with the 2nd Bn Royal Anglians in Cyprus July 1998 to June 1999 before being sold off in Cyprus in 2001.
  9. Greetings, I am the proud owner of a Land Rover 90 soft top, in its not too distant past it went my the id of 66 KF 15. I have owned this since May 2008. I also have a 3/4 ton Wide Track Sankey Trailer that was EF 87 AA. I have an idea of the history for the 90 from the Royal Logistic Corps Museum, I have yet to find out about the trailer. I have taken the 90 to War & Peace for the last two years and thoroughly enjoyed myself, already sent off this years application. I have joined HMVF to be in touch with like minded people who have an interest in military vehicles, and hopefully be able to find a picture of two of my 90 when it worked for a living. The danger side is that where do you go from a Landy, so many toys so little space. Having never been in any of HM's armed services I am on a steep learning curve.:wow:
