2. ABRO its where most of the 'projects' have come from.
3. Just as soon as I start it and hopefully Paul gets his Sabre registered and oh it would be nice to get them side by side.... I don't wish for much do I lol
4. Hi Peter, Chuffed to bits that you have taken the time to decipher the report it certainly makes for a good read for me anyway all I need to find now is some in service pics Must admit when I was a lad I never in my life thought that I would ever own a Scorpion / Sabre. We certainly live in good times even though sometimes it doesn't feel like it.
5. The Merlin report has appeared this morning during a tidy up I suspect the missus knew where it was all along hey ho!
6. That would be interesting too see I wonder if it would pass one of those emission tests
7. All those parts take up a heck of a lot of space
8. Top notch thats looking a heck of a lot better than when you started
9. Drums gearbox all cleaned and reassembled, gasket surface cleaned no gasket required you just use blue holymar Bands and carrier cleaned Don't loose these two per band where the springs fit There is a right and wrong way to fit the springs one way you struggle and curse the other you look at the bottom of the bands and you realise that the spring pushes against the longer side of the web / casting. Fit the bands in order and move the band around to push the spring into place and do the same for the other side. All together the fun comes tomorrow when I assemble it all The bearing is missing from the gearbox that I am using but its in the other one. Slide hammer time
10. Its this one at the very front, look at the thickness of the band at the bottom of the curve and the depth of the rivets.
11. I bought this gearbox last year the Ferret that it had come out off had been left in gear with the handbrake on. It pratically welded two off the drums in the box together, the hammer and a drift couldn't separate them. Where the heat had been could be seen through the drums and the shaft. Can you guess which band is worn out? Sorry Richard this question doesn't apply to you same goes to any facebook users on the Daimler Ferret page. Thought I would throw a few pictures up off the gearbox that I bought five or so years back from Swansea which I started stripping down at the weekend. 12. Simple answer No the gear ratios do not match the output of the engine, fine for on the level but hills oh my. I won't mention the speed we dropped down too on the Woodhead pass safe to say reliant robins were accelerating past us and laughing
13. I'll be doing it in the next few days I just need to get my spare gearbox from my parents house. I'll post up some pics of what a worn band looks like from a gearbox that had been left in gear with the engine running. Not a pretty sight, I've binned two of the drums as they wouldn't come apart even with the magic hammer.
14. Hadn't seen that one for ages
15. Al needs to reset the bands or at least undo the cover over the bands to have a look see if the threaded part is anywhere near the top of the slotted nuts (wrong terminology). Al will still need to reset the bands in the gearbox. Richard should be able to help a bit more. Brads Canadian Ferret gearbox small amount of adjustment available as the screws r near the top of the slots and from memory first gear and second were non existent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N732ENGhIsU&feature=share&list=UUP2ElpvMyq IEwLgWg3VNWDQ
